The weekly check-in GTKY question is wrecking all my meal planning. Getting to the point where many things sound good and the power of suggestion is strong! Lots of pasta and pizza answers!
Craving salmon like crazy, so some salmon with some veggies (broccoli or corn probably).
Also hoping to get some more protein this week. We have chicken and hamburger in the freezer, so thinking about what to do with that. Any thoughts?
Have to work T, Th, Sat and I often don't feel good on those days for dinner. So cereal it is! It is fortified with lots of vitamins and milk has good calcium. At least that is what I am telling myself.
Old Stand-bys that are easy on my stomach and I have all the ingredients for: Homemade Mac and cheese Grilled cheese Hot roast beef sandwiches
@dobiemom11 Ooo I’d love to Make salmon sushi bowls, but my H isn’t a fan of salmon. Maybe if I find some Ahi.
BBQ steak last night.
Tonight making fried rice with leftover bbq chicken and steak. Maybe some ahi sushi bowls if I can find some. Wednesday I have Dinner at my moms after they watch DD. Maybe I’ll bring them takeout from somewhere. Burgers one night.
And probably pizza Friday.

Both of us are suffering from colds this weekend, so we didn’t plan too much.
tonight was supposed to be Mississippi roast, but I was feeling like total ass and didn’t get it in the crockpot this morning. Maybe tmrw? Think we’ll grill hot dogs instead
Tuesday- Mississippi roast, mashed potatoes, broccoli wednesday- grilled honey mustard chicken sandwiches (we were inspired by something on Pioneer Woman while making our list) and sweet potato fries Thursday- Cajun sausage pasta that we never made last week
I have the following on deck - the days will probably change, except for today.
Monday - Chicken wraps with peanut sauce Tuesday - Pulled pork leftovers (we did nachos last night and will probably do one more meal from it) Wednesday - Seafood salad Thursday - Greek chicken wraps Friday - Takeout
@BmcD2016 cajun sausage pasta sounds good - I might add something like that for next week.
@karmba chicken wraps with peanut sauce sounds so good to me! How do you make yours? I might have to steal that idea this week because I have a jar of peanut sauce in my pantry.
Last night we had grilled cheese and tomato soup.
Some other ideas for this week are: porkchops and asparagus homemade chicken tenders with potatoes and broccoli.
If the vegetables are still good than I might make veggie stir fry.
We will probably have pizza once this week because that always sounds good to me. Other than that I don’t have any more ideas. It’s still tough to eat dinners because I feel so sick around that time of day and I don’t want to make or eat anything.
@karmba currently looking up ideas for thai chicken wraps. I have a whole bbq'd chicken breast and everything else I'll need to make them..YUM thanks for the inspo!

So I am normally a crazy detailed meal planner because it’s my hobby and I love cooking. The process of making a menu, shopping list, and shopping for everything is normally fun. This has totally been thrown out of whack by nausea/exhaustion & a complete inability to look at recipes / shop for ingredients. So This week I broke down & ordered a Sun Basket with 3 dinners. I think it’s going to help me get back into the swing of things and also eat healthier/balanced meals. I’m trying to make extra stuff to go with each meal because in the past when we tried it out, the portion sizes haven’t been enough for both of us.
I also know it’s bad for the environment, but I had to do something and it’s only a temp fix. We are also recycle/compost crazy, so hoping that makes up for our excess. Here’s what we got this week:
1. Shanghai chicken wings with bok choy slaw. I’m probably also going to heat us some dumplings or something to have with.
2. Mediterranean turkey kebabs with carrot and squash ribbons (and I’m making homemade labneh to have with pitas with it & this spicy garlic sauce called Toum that my husband loves)
3. Soba noodles with crispy chicken/veggies & a spicy cashew sauce. We had this tonight and it was very good. We had to make extra chicken so my husband did that on the grill. Otherwise super yum.
@shelmcclel. I am also that way and finding it difficult right now. I miss just walking around a grocery store and picking out ingredients. I am getting a little more adventurous and trusting my gut more on what flavors go together. But right now, I am not even really sure what we are eating day to day. My nausea tends to get really bad right around time to make dinner! Let us know how you like Sun Basket.
The nausea hit right at dinner, so no salmon for us! Maybe tonight or tomorrow for lunch!
@dobiemom11 I’m the exact same! I feel the worst in the late afternoon/evening. I cannot shop for or cook fish right now, but have been okay with some shellfish. It’s not as bad as it was, though so I’m trying to just power through and hoping my determination to act normal will help me get to the other side hah... we’ll see.
@dobiemom11 and @shelmcclel I am the exact same way. I’m fine for most of the day, and then right around 5:00 it hits! I still can’t deal with any meat then, so I have been having my husband grill a lot or making things like lasagna that I can prepare earlier in the day then just stick in with the oven. If it were up to me, I would be eating nothing but cheese pizza, Kraft macaroni and cheese and soft pretzels, but I think my kids would revolt if they saw me eating that all the time while I was feeding them real meals with vegetables!
@karmba@antera23 I made chicken lettuce wraps tonight and made a copycat Cheesecake Factory peanut sauce recipe and it was SO GOOD!
