I haven't taken my prenatal in a few days because every time I did it would make me nauseous for hours after...well this morning I was feeling good and I just LOOKED at the bottle of prenatals and thought I will take these today...but didn't take them...and I STILL got nauseous...WTF

My wtf is to my willpower. I can resist goldfish crackers any day of the week, but DH bought cheez-its the other day and the box is almost empty. We had forgot that we both love them more than goldfish and will scarf them down.

@notvincent I've been saying that for years. But yes... extra WTF this week. Also - this is why I love being Episcopalian. The Bishop's response was on point.

@bearmomma1 Mine have ginger in them, that seems to be working. There have definitely been a few days I did not take them though.

@karmba Opposite for me! Goldfish dipped in ranch is amaaaaazing. My son likes cheezits better though.

My WTF - Someone sent an (opinionated) email to the whole company about the events this week - cue the "reply all" disaster blowing up my inbox. And all the "reply all" emails demanding everyone stop hitting "Reply all" -- Staaaaahhhhhp.

Oooohhhh the Reply All button can be such a disaster. It crashed our network several years ago

i have no advice the prenatals, just take what you can handle if you can and try to eat and drink water. That’s like all you can do, right? *hugs*

I take prenatal right before bed. I am not taking the gummy ones, but I just don't understand why they have to make the pills so big. You know my gag reflex is on overdrive right now? I got a bunch of them on sale, so just going to tough it out. Hopefully the next ones will be smaller!!

@bearmomma1 I have those days too. You’re not alone! My husband is a pharmacist and told me if I can’t take the full vitamin that folic acid is really the most important thing, so to take that if I can’t do anything else - so I have a bottle of those separate just in case, they’re small and not hard on your stomach (although some days even taking that’s been hard).

Obvi don’t take that as anything but what I’ve been doing, but might be a good option to consider

More reply all nightmares here today! We had a professional development day for NYC schools, you all might not realize it but it's the largest school district in the country. Our union has over 200,000 members! So imagine us all using the SAME digital platform for professional development

it crashed to all hell and the reply-alls for just MY school got well into the 30's. DH and even DS were just laughing each time they heard my email ping. Freaking torture.

Ok- I just received a notice from my OBGYN that by week 28, I have to pay in full their estimated cost (what will not be covered by my insurance) for the birth! Is this normal?!?

I’m a bit in shock. I knew that the costs would not be the same as my DDs birth- we were in Europe and basically after 12 weeks ALL of my healthcare, through birth, including non prego issues was 100 charged and covered by insurance. But I NEVER would have expected to make full payment WAY before birth!?

Ok rant over.

@jchpg this is how mine is as well. Have to pay the OB for all my prenatal care by 28 weeks, prepay the hospital for delivery in Sept, and then will get additional bills after delivery for physician fees and any excess charges. (All with BCBS insurance and I work at the same hospital 😑)

YIKES. All I'll pay is a $100 hospital stay co-pay. The US insurance "system" is an abomination.

@jchpg mine was the same and they were going to break it up into 4 payments between week 8-28. But they were telling me a number that was way higher than I expected so I challenged it. They ended up agreeing with me, and corrected it and I only had to pay the difference between my deductible (which I’d already used up because my fertility treatments were covered by insurance) & out-of-pocket max. I just paid it all out of my FSA the first day. They told me I’d pay the hospital stuff separately.

You can prob talk to the office’s finance team about a different arrangement if you need to though. I’m sure they make some exceptions if you need to spread it out a bit more.

@willashbaby same. My first OB visit is $20 and everything is covered from that point forward. I think my hospital copay is $150 or so but considering I’m literally paying nothing else, that’s great.

This is crazy. DH and my first thought was “that’s got to be illegal” like at least deliver my baby then charge me....

“Jokes” on them- I’ve nearly reached my out of pocket. I’ll definitely hit that by my anatomy scan, if I’m not there already. It was “good timing” that my ER stay and eventual D&C fell in 2020 and so will this birth.

@jchpg have they reviewed your insurance coverage yet? My OB has you pre-pay $50 per appointment that will go towards what you pay out of pocket. But they check to see if you have an HSA or if you’re already hit your out of pocket max. If for some reason you don’t deliver with them you are refunded.

It’s annoying but also kind of nice because it’s a small amount per visit and the final cost due at the end is less than it would otherwise be.

I’m pretty sure in the end I will not have to pay, due to hitting my out of pocket. I’m just annoyed- hence posting in WTF Wednesday

It just urks me because they said in the letter that they checked with my insurance, which clearly they didn’t- bc I know I have significantly less then their estimated amount left in my total out of pocket costs.

I have to adjust my expectations- these are the problems with having given birth before in a country with a “better” system.

Dont get me started on US “maternity leave!” I’ll save that for another WTF Wednesday

Something we didn’t know about before DD was born was that the new babe becomes their own insurance cost after birth. She ended up needing a night in the NICU after 4 nights in the regular recovery (due to c section) so she charged up her own out of pocket max in the first 5 days she was alive..which was a lot of money due to shitty insurance plans. We had that cost plus my own hospital costs. It was about $10k total 😳

@bearmomma1 ugh yes. I’m glad I picked my company’s “best” plan this year. We’ll still have a $4k out of pocket max for myself and a baby, but it’s better than it could be.
