My husband got a job offer!!! Not his first choice, but it's a job, it pays, and has benefits. A huge relief, as the unemployment benefits (which we were very lucky to receive on time, so many are still waiting) will be expiring sometime soon and our expenses will be increasing in the near future with the kiddo. We've now got some time to build our savings back up and prepare.
I am in Florida but I work for a very large Canadian bank and they are so supportive of their employees generally, but right now are just going the extra mile for everyone. They announced there will be no layoffs in 2020, and are offering complimentary emotional support/help if people want it or need it. they are encouraging people to be flexible about their colleagues need to take care of their kids/families during the workday, and also they are actively getting involved in the most current events both in Canada and the US. I’ve previously worked for law firms that have been much less understanding/involved/caring in times of personal need/crisis, and I’m just feeling very happy/blessed to be working for this company right now.
DH got the call, his furlough is over! They're putting him into a different position for now and they're all still on a pay cut (85%) BUT at least he's back! We only had a few more weeks before the extra unemployment would have run out so better to go back now. He'll actually still be working from home but his schedule has changed, whatever, as long as he's working!
