Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
Upcoming appointments? Anatomy scan 6/8. Finally only a week away!
Rant/rave? Not really sure which this is, but I go back to work in person today! Drinking my coffee before heading in now. I'm nervous but also ready to not be sitting on my phone/the internet all day while struggling through zoom meetings anymore. I'm not looking forward to wearing a mask all day but obviously will.
Questions? I'm still taking unisom but my insomnia has gotten worse. Mostly just can't fall asleep and then get a max 5-6 hours before my bladder wakes me up and then don't have much time left to sleep. It's not awful, but not ideal either, that's for sure. Anyone have tips?
GTKY: Sell us on your favorite movie. I don't know if I have a real favorite, but A League of their Own holds a special place in my heart. Great acting, iconic scenes, baseball, female empowerment in at least some sense, etc. It was partially filmed in my home town and numerous people I know were extras in it, which is also cool.
Upcoming appointments? June 10th (routine OB checkup)
Rant/rave? Rant - I have had to unfriend/unfollow so many people on Facebook this week, it's ridiculous. And I'm frustrated, because much of what I want to say can't be posted to social media since I'm in the military. I hate what is happening around our country right now, and the things people are saying have really tarnished my image of them. It's really making me wonder why I'm even friends with some of the people on my friends list. I would delete my Facebook altogether if it weren't for the fact that my family lives so far away and we're expecting our first child soon. Rave - I got advanced (promoted) at work today! I know I mentioned it previously, but it feels so incredibly good. It's been 8 years since the last time I advanced, and although we had to hold my advancement ceremony virtually since I can't return to work yet, it was still magical and such an honor.
Questions?
GTKY: Sell us on your favorite movie. Oh goodness, I'm such a cinephile that it's hard to choose just one! I'd have to say "Stand By Me". It was my first favorite movie, Wil Wheaton was my first crush, and I could literally watch it every day (I'd have to watch it alone though since I know & can recite every line, which drives my husband a little crazy). It's the most accurate film adaptation of a Stephen King novel, and the casting choices for each of the characters was perfection. Not only that, but the soundtrack is friggin' awesome, too.
Upcoming appointments? Wednesday for a/s finally!!
Rant/rave? So I found out that my husband is able to come to the anatomy scan as starting this week they are allowing it again! But unfortunately he can only be in the room for 10 minutes... radiology’s rule, not my clinic’s rule. 😒
Questions? Did anyone have an a/s that couldn’t tell them the gender? I keep thinking this baby is going to be stubborn and we won’t be able to find out gender! And I’m so impatient... but I’m keeping positive we’ll get a clear image!
GTKY: Sell us on your favorite movie.
Well I’m a total Disneyphile so my absolute favorite movie ever is Tangled. I’m not even sure what makes it my favorite movie out of all the Disney movies! My husband knew how much I loved the movie that he even proposed to me with the Rapunzel ring from the Disney collection! (It was supposed to happen at Disney World but not sure why it didn’t!) Our wedding colors were even based off the movie and I walked down the aisle to the instrumental version of “I See the Light”.
@mamahosch My US tech couldn't determine baby's sex at our AS because her cord was between her legs and her rump was pointed away, but we had already found out her sex from our NIPT results when I was 12 weeks along, so it wasn't a big deal for me.
Upcoming appointments? Virtual visit this afternoon
Rant/rave? Rave: My nephew was born this weekend! I’m so in love! I’m leaving shortly to “babysit” so my sister can get some sleep. Rant: they forgot to draw one of my important labs so now I have to go back.
Questions? Is everyone’s movement still super low? I feel a TON but it all feels really low like above the pubic bone.
GTKY: Sell us on your favorite movie. My favorite random movie is The Butterfly Effect with Ashton Kutcher. I really love movies that play out different scenarios and this is one. It’s very interesting as well to think of how small things effect change.
@babyodo I’ve really changed my opinions of some people this week as well.
@mamahosch we already knew the gender but her cord was between her legs during the AS and it would’ve been hard if we didn’t already know.
@carrotsandpeas3 My insomnia plus heartburn has really ramped up so I’m right there with you.
@mamahosch I was that baby. I refused to let them see down there. At first glance my doctor told me baby #2 was a boy because the cord was there but she waited for a bit and the baby moved. The tech called me with instructions before the a/s and told me to come with a full bladder and to eat on the way so the baby was active. By the end of the a/s the baby had moved away from the cord and we had a clear view. Also I love tangled too.
@carrotsandpeas3 I’m right there with you on insomnia. I’m feeling exhausted again but this time it’s from just not sleeping long.
c@coldbrew yeah baby movement is super low still. Every once in awhile I feel like a movement to the side of my belly button but most of it is down low.
@babyodo I had to just stop talking to my mom last night. She’s conservative and doesn’t get certain things and there’s no changing her mind. So I just told her let’s just agree to disagree and move on or end the conversation here.
How far along are you? 20 + 3 (made it halfway!)
Due date? 10/16
Upcoming appointments? Mid June for OB check up
Rant/rave? Made it halfway and that makes me so excited. Honestly not much else going on here.
Questions? Not pregnancy related but we’re going camping for the first. Well my first time anything I need to pack or any tips or tricks?
GTKY: Sell us on your favorite movie.
Walk the Line is one of my favorite movies. I love Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix are amazing in it. Country music and romance all in one. Plus it’s based on the real life story.
@babycakesday tip: don't go lol. Camping is uncomfortable anyway and you wanna add pregnancy into that? Nooooooo.
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
@babyodo@coldbrew@babycakesday oh great... lol. I really am hoping we can see because a friend is taking photos for us afterwards since we are still social distancing from family and want to send them a photo of us holding either the “girl” or “boy” balloons and confetti! Just a simple gender reveal, not the ridiculously extravagant ones.
@kboydbowman 😂 I wish I could back out but DD has been dying to go and that’s all she asked for her birthday. So we compromised and settled for an early June trip instead of late July.
Upcoming appointments? Thursday for regular checkup
Rant/rave? Rave: After last week starting to worry because my belly was still so flat, it started exploding the next day! My husband commented this morning that it must have grown 3x bigger in the past few days. Coincided nicely with my maternity pants (I ordered from ThredUp) arriving so I got to try them out yesterday. I actually looking pregnant.
Questions? Is anyone doing online childbirth classes, any tips or recommendations? I don't want to start anything in-person right now anyway because I'm moving next month, but I also still don't want to be around people if I don't have to. Wondering if it's about time to start taking classes.
GTKY: Sell us on your favorite movie. My all-time favorite is Spirited Away. I like movies that are an escape from reality but still meaningful in some way, so it's kind of perfect - very fantastical, and beautiful, but still with strong themes like love and friendship, being true to yourself, and I love that the main character learns to see the good in everyone, even the villain.
@coldbrew I just started feeling movement a few days ago, and it's all been just above my pubic bone. I think her little footsies are just resting there, occasionally testing the walls of her prison trying to bust out like the alien out of John Hurt.
@babycakesday that's so exciting! I would say just relax and enjoy chilling around the campsite, don't try to do too much extra stuff so that you just end up tired. And if you can, test out whatever sleeping pad you're using to make sure it's comfortable and holds air - I always seem to end up at least halfway to the ground when I'm using an inflatable pad. And make smores! Bring metal pokey sticks, don't try to skewer them on wood, it never turns out well.
@amapa20 I started one of my childbirth classes through our birth center since it transferred to online - they cancelled all in-person classes that were scheduled in June. DH and I need to finish it, we have two sections left.
@babycakesday I’m also going camping this weekend. I agree to make sure you have a comfortable sleeping pad and extra pillows to help with comfort while sleeping. Bring easy meals and prep as much food/snacks as you can before you leave so you don’t have as much to do at camp. Don’t forget bug repellent and try and find a camp spot with some shade! Also make sure you have layers and shoes that are easy to put on/take off if you have to get up to use the bathroom at night!
@amapa20 I am planning on taking a hypnobabies class. I’d love to go in person, but I’m not sure when I would be comfortable doing that so I’ll probably look into online options. I think you should plan on starting to take classes by 25 weeks depending on how many sessions are offered. With my last pregnancy, I went into labor 3 weeks early and ended up missing the last couple classes. I definitely should have started classes sooner last time.
@amapa20 when I did Bradley classes they started us at 25 weeks and did 10 sessions. I did my last session at 36 weeks. So it would depend on how the online classes are set up, but definitely keep in mind that you may go into labor early and you’d like to be done by then.
@carrotsandpeas3 re insomnia, magnesium and protein, tons of protein. If you aren't a fan of drinkable magnesium, I take capsules from Natural Calm, but there's also an incredible lotion from 8 sheep organics that's formulated specifically for pregnancy, hope you find something that helps!
@amapa20 I'm probably going to do virtual classes if I do any besides infant CPR, I'm not a classroom type of person anyways so that works. My birth center doesn't require any and especially since I've had an unmedicated birth previously. If we do choose to do classes though they recommend you start after 30 weeks but they're really open minded about it.
@coldbrew I can't remember if you're in the anterior placenta camp or not, but I am and my biggest movement is literally all around my placenta so I know I'm getting higher movement but I just can't feel it yet, so down low and on either side but those giant middle kicks are still in the works.
How far along are you? 20 weeks yesterday yaaaaaay!
Due date? 10/18
Upcoming appointments? Hopefully soon for my anatomy scan before I lose my mind.
Rant/rave? Just stressed and antsy to finalize my transfer and get my anatomy scan. Considering going to an independent imaging place to get it done if I'm still in limbo past this week. Bleh. Rave is that I've felt strong kicks every day this past week, it's been amazing
Questions?
GTKY: Sell us on your favorite movie. I'm not much for favorites, there's so many good movies out there but Kimi no na wa (Your Name) is incredible, absolutely stunning animation and so much heart while doing what Japanese tv does so well, the quiet slice of life mixed with the supernatural, rooting deep in tradition and bringing different cultures together. Close second would be Black Panther, maybe not the greatest Marvel movie but one of the best movies regardless. Celebrating Africa in all its beauty without whitewashing the cultures that they took inspiration from to build the country for the movie, I just think it's such a wonderful message.
Rant/rave? Rant: People are acting crazy. If I actually used Facebook, I would probably unfriend a lot of people at this point. People need to contain their crazy, and bad behavior shouldn't be excused. Rave: Baby is moving so much! She actually woke me up this morning, and I was surprised how far up on my belly I was feeling movement. DH has been able to feel her move too over the past week. I'm really looking forward to my anatomy scan tomorrow. I hope that she is healthy.
Questions? nope
GTKY: Sell us on your favorite movie. I like "Love Actually" because it makes me happy.
@kalesix3 Thank you for asking! My anatomy scan went well! Everything was completely normal. It was such a relief. I was also surprised to find out that I have an anterior placenta because I have been feeling this baby move so much more than my last one.

I love The Princess Bride. It’s super cheesy and totally low budget, but it is cute and romantic too ☺️ ♥️
