Re: Weekly Check-in, Week 1 (10/1-10/7) - 5/18

  • How far along are you? 19+5!

    Due date? 10/7

Upcoming appointments? Anatomy US on 6/3. We opted to cancel my monthly OB check since I had the US scheduled so close and reduce possible exposure to coronavirus

Rant/rave? Rant: We are redoing the bedroom our two boys will share and it’s a two-steps-forward, one-step-back process. Everything in that room (our whole house really) was done SO sloppily. Shelves were cut improperly and wedged into the closet when they didn’t quite fit. Dents from hammer holes were left unrepaired... we’re mostly laughing about it but it is a little frustrating.
Rave: I work for an amazing org that is working on an amazing maternity leave policy AND giving me opportunities for advancement even while knowing that soon I will be out for a few months. I feel very grateful.

Questions? When you have a craving for some particular food or drink, and you give in to it, do you find yourself craving it more afterwards, or has your craving been satisfied?

GTKY: The genie gives you three wishes.  No wishing for more wishes.  What are your wishes? Off the top of my head... 1) Pandemic over, 2) house paid off, 3) a monstrous blueberry harvest this summer. 😁

    Rant/rave?
Rant: I honestly don’t think I’ll be back in the office before I deliver. I love the people i work with. I miss getting together with friends, and going to restaurants.
Rave: I’m so excited to start putting the nursery together! We’ve been working so hard at putting all the ideas together, and we finally started ordering things

    Questions?
I’m exhausted all day but when bedtime happens, I can’t fall asleep. What do you recommend? I don’t have any caffeine after 9 am.

GTKY: The genie gives you three wishes.  No wishing for more wishes.  What are your wishes?

    Me: 29, DH: 29
    TTC since: 2/13

    HSG: waiting to schedule

  • @mamaheatherl I read in bed. I have a kindle, turn off all the lights, and set the kindle to the dimmest setting. It doesn’t have the blue light of a traditional screen and I don’t need to have any lights on that might otherwise keep me awake. I usually fall asleep within a page or two—the bad thing is this means it takes me FOREVER to get through anything. But the nice thing is I can literally read myself to sleep and not have to worry about losing my place!

How far along are you? 20+5ish

    Due date? 10/05/20

Upcoming appointments? 3 hour GD test on Tuesday since I failed the 1 hour. I took it early and at the regular time my first pregnancy since I have a family history of diabetes and early this time because I did develop GD my 3rd trimes with DS. If I pass this one then I'll still have to take it at 28 weeks.

    Rant/rave?
Rant - I'm basically completely overwhelmed finding out I'm pregnant and that I'm so far along. There's a lot of general personal stuff happening aside from that (that I'll probably get into once I know you all better lol) and I'm working from home all summer in a legal internship. I'm also sending DS back to daycare next week since DH is back at work and I need to be able to do work hours without just letting DS live on his tablet. We've kept him home since March b/c of Covid. So much stress.

Rave: I'm having another baby! As much as I'm still in shock and the timing is less than ideal (was planning on another 2-3 years) I'm sooo in love with him already and I can't wait to see DS as a big brother.
Plus I made I through the 1st trimester with no morning sickness/symptoms at all which is kind of amazing.

    Questions?
None right now. I am pretty sure I've forgotten everything about pregnancy though. 😆

GTKY: The genie gives you three wishes.  No wishing for more wishes.  What are your wishes?
1.) To pass the bar exam easily after graduation and get a job that understands work/life balance
2.) A house with land and an area to build a giant playfort for my boys and the money to pay for it all.
3.) My best friend has MS. I would wish for that to just to away.

How far along are you? 20 + 4

    Due date? 10/7

Upcoming appointments? June 3rd with high risk specialist, June 4 with ob

Rant/rave? Rant: every morning for the past 2 weeks I’ve been waking up with dried up blood in my nose.
Rave: love feeling the kicks and movement. Gives me a sense of peace

Questions? Anyone have recurring yeast infections? And how do you deal with them?

GTKY: The genie gives you three wishes.  No wishing for more wishes.  What are your wishes?
     1. Would love to own a ranch/farm one day.
    2. Travel and see all the beauty the world has to officer
    3. Help fund educational opportunities for remote villages in my home country
  • @lilbubb My OB said monistat 7 is safe for treatment of years infections during pregnancy. I also try to make sure I’m staying hydrated. I’ll throw in some cranberry juice, though that’s more for preventing UTIs, so it might just be a placebo effect for me.
  • @lilbubb I'm on daily prophylactic antibiotics for the duration due to an essentially permanent UTI, and antibiotics always give me yeast infections, so this is practically an every other week problem for me.  My OB also says that the topicals are fine, no matter how often you have to use them.  She also says the 3-day version is fine, which I prefer, because that's fewer days of mess.

And @baseballismyfavoriteseason, I hate to tell you, but yes, that's a placebo, since what it's affecting is your urinary pH, which would not impact your vaginal flora.  Yogurt, on the other hand, can be helpful as a yeast prophylactic.
    Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  • @kboydbowman I am totally okay with that fact—gives me something else to drink besides water, which admittedly I tire of after awhile. 😂
  • @baseballismyfavoriteseason, I make a preggo herbal tea blend which is tasty both hot and iced and is supposedly really good for uterine tone and such.
