2nd Trimester

Dog jumping on/near pelvis and abdomen area

Anyone out there experience their dog jumping on their laps and almost on their stomach/pelvis or completely on their stomachs? Was sitting on the couch leaned back a little bit and my dog (jack Russell terrier, about 20 pounds give or take) jumped right up on my lap, before he was able to get on my belly or my pelvis area I shot right up and was just like... oh my god. it happened so fast and pretty sure he didn't get on my pelvis, (I'm 14 weeks. I'm not exactly certain on the fundal height of my baby right about now. Is it still behind my pelvis or is it above my pelvis now? When I went to my obgyn she said the baby was behind my pelvic bone, this was at 13 weeks) ugggh I'm just paranoid. I hope my baby is fine and tucked safely in there and my pup didn't get anywhere near it when he jumped on my lap.

Unless you actually have bruises or it caused you serious pain or bleeding, no, it didn't do anything. Anything external like this that would injure the baby will significantly injure you before it harms the baby. My two young children jump on me and push on my belly all the time. It's uncomfortable for me but doesn't hurt the baby at all.

  • Baby is protected. A 20lb dog jumping onto your lap is not going to harm baby.  Baby is very well protected.
