Ok, I've been holding on to this one since last week, so as promised, although maybe not scandalous enough?!

I am seriously considering having MH do a quarantine haircut on me, even though my hair stylist would kill me.

I am, as you all know, really stubborn. I got a haircut right as I started TTC, and I told myself I wasn't going to get it cut until I was KU, mostly because my hair stylist also does my SiL and her mom and I didn't want to get asked about TTC and have any answers I gave go back to them. :# Then once I started IF testing, I didn't want to get asked because I was too fragile about it. The IVF meds made my hair grow like crazy, and I was finally fed up with all my hair, and now hair salons aren't open anymore!

    Me right now:

  • @mvt2003 I'm probably going to trim my bangs this weekend. They are a hot mess and haven't been cut since February. However, Wednesday our supreme court decided our governor didn't have the authority to extend our stay at home order so basically everything is opening back up at their own discretion so I think the salon is opening back up soon.

I wonder how long my hair would be if I had made the same promise to myself considering I'm nearing 3 years. Maybe I could finally have hair long enough to cover my boobs so I can take those sexy topless photos with my hair covering my boobs.

@inthewoods23 From personal experience, I would say yes. Eeep! I'm rounding the corner on 2 years, and my hair definitely hits that region, maybe not full coverage, but close :# MH hates it, he likes me with short hair! Also, my hair is SUPER thick, so it's a huge PITA. I shed everywhere, I literally had to cut hair out of our vacuum roller this weekend!

We're probably starting early phases of opening soon, but I'm not going to be comfortable going anywhere for a while, and I'm basically going into lockdown mode once my FET cycle begins. Not risking that!!!

  • @mvt2003 that is a brave (but understandable!) decision. I've been tempted to box dye my hair because my roots look absolutely insane, but I know I'll regret it whenever I get back into the salon. Is your hair easy to cut at least?

I thought of my FFC earlier this week when we were talking in some thread about chores we hate doing and several people said laundry... my confession is I've lived in my house for three years and literally don't know how to use our washer/dryer because I've never done laundry here. It's something that H doesn't really mind doing that much so we got in the habit of him doing it most of the time at our last place, and somehow that turned into him always doing it once we moved. Love not having that particular task on my plate, but I realize I should probably at least familiarize myself with how our machines work!
  • @the_most_happy on that topic, I have never done a load of laundry with bleach. I'm too terrified of ruining my clothes. I don't think I have color safe bleach and I don't even trust using it on a white shirt that has an little bit of color on it.

@mvt2003 Kate Bryan from The Small Things Blog (K8_smallthings on IG) did an IGTV about how to cut your own hair at home. She did it with the understanding that you may not have someone at home to help you but if you do you could have YH do some of the trimming in the back and then do the rest yourself. She's a hairstylist so she did it with the understanding that you should go to a professional but we don't really have that option right now. And that it is more of a trim up the ends, help your hair look healthy again, not any dramatic changes.

@the_most_happy how did you train YH this way!?! I'm gonna need you to write a book or something! I swear MH just pretends he doesn't know how to do it so he doesn't have to and I don't want him to mess us my clothes or more importantly shrink all of his because he is 6'5".

My FFFC is that I had two donuts for breakfast this morning. #noregrets

I was lurking this week and saw the GTKY on skin care
    😳😳😳😳😳

My FFFC is that twice a day, I wash my face with clean & clear face wash and then apply oil of Olay serum, the same as I have done every day since approx 1996. Every so often if I have a “special occasion” I throw in a mask or a nose pore strip

I was so mortified seeing everyone’s posts that I didn’t even fully read them 😂. I may this weekend to get some ideas to branch out a little

I'll throw in with @bows22 that I used to use Oil of Olay every single night because it was inexpensive, and both my mom and grandma used it every single day and my grandma had the most amazing skin ever.

Unfortunately, I inherited my dad's skin, not my grandma's :D so I had been thinking it was time for an upgrade in 2020. I took MH's absolute hatred for the smell of Oil of Olay, and piggybacked off of starting IVF (so I wanted to take my skin seriously since I was going to be pumping myself full of hormones) and moved on to some more serious moisturizer and serum. No regrets!!!

  • @asf0613 Ugh that has actually happened to me too, my skin has been terrible for the last year-ish, but I have been too lazy/inert to look at routines and it seems like a lot of the "good" stuff is not safe for pregnancy. I guess quarantine would maybe be a good time to investigate further lol.

  • @bows22 hey I used to use that one back in my college days!

@legallykate that's basically my nighttime routine except I use micellar water on a  cotton pad and call it a night.

Makeup remover towelettes are so bad for the environment! Same with the cotton rounds to be honest. I bought a pack of reusable cotton "pads" that can remove makeup with just water.

  • Count me in the lazy about skincare club! I have so many products that I've purchased when I periodically get in a "I'm going to develop a great skincare routine" mood but it's just... so much work, ugh! I also don't know what source to trust for skincare info because my dermatologist recommended one particular brand (Cetaphil) that is frequently slammed by people who seem to know what they are talking about, so idk what to think now lol.
  • Well in keeping with the skin care theme, I'm terrible and don't have any sort of skin care routine. I use a Ponds cold cream makeup remover, and that's only if I bother putting on makeup (so maybe once a week?). 😬😬
  • LOL I'm definitely ALSO in the lazy skincare club. I have super complicated skin. It's dry as fuck because I have psoriasis but it's also ridiculously acne prone even though it's not oily. I hate it, so I just moisturize and hope.

  • Also in the lazy skincare club here.🙋‍♀️ CeraVe foaming face wash at night, sometime followed by their PM moisturizer.  Maybe repeat the next morning....  People say I look way youner than my age, so I guess less is more?🤷‍♀️
  • @the_most_happy I had that recommendation too in my teens when I saw a dermatologist and got put on an antibiotic for like 2 years. From what I've heard with Cetaphil, the products are fine, but they are super basic in terms of the ingredients they use and I think there's an ingredient or 2 in their gentle skin cleanser that can be too stripping to the skin (one of those sulfates!). So that seems to be why a lot of people don't like it.

It's funny because I stopped using Cetaphil because a skincare FB group I'm in is like "omg parabens!" and "CeraVe is so much better". Well CeraVe also has parabens in their products. Can't win, oh well.

*disclaimer* I'm by no means a skincare guru but I've definitely been watching a ridiculous amount of videos on skincare and products for the last month or so.

Omg my skincare routine is so all over the place.  I love skin care products, but I hate the price tags.  So I have a Dr. Lancer Method set that I bust out every so often because I want it to last, I got myself a cleansing brush (cheaper version of Clarisonic) recently and some Neutrogena cleanser (to upgrade from Noxzema that I had been using prior LOL), I FINALLY got this bottle of cleanser open that had been stuck (poor manufacturing) that is a nice one from a local spa so I transferred it into an empty pump bottle I had (YAY), and I use Aldi moisturizer. Thank you good night.
