Re: Weekly Workouts and Mindfulness 5/15-5/21

  • What physical workouts are you doing? I joined Peloton for the free 30 day trial- did two yoga workouts. Also got on our recumbent bike for the first time in forever.

What are you doing for your mental health? I’m trying to be kind to myself. It’s been hard being at home for 2 months and I have been really negative to myself lately. So I’m putting more effort into things I can do to positively impact myself.

What mindfulness practices are you doing? None

  • What physical workouts are you doing?
I managed 2 Peleton rides last week. Saturday and Monday. Then the nausea kicked back in and I haven't been back on. I think I might hop on right now actually!

What are you doing for your mental health?
Giving myself a break for not being able to work out as much as I used to.

What mindfulness practices are you doing?
Just trying to repeat mantras "this too shall pass".

Do you have any questions for the board?
    nope

  • Finally back to working out after 6 weeks off! I had been told not to work out after spotting early on. First couple runs back were nervewracking (and painfully slow / hard) but so far everything seems fine.

What physical workouts are you doing?
Short runs, core workouts, yoga. Going to add back in some upper body stuff with body weight and bands tomorrow.

What are you doing for your mental health?
Journaling, trying to get outside when I can

What mindfulness practices are you doing?
Breathing exercises, taking a few minutes to feel my stomach and connect with the little one before bed

Do you have any questions for the board?
    Nope

  • What physical workouts are you doing? I tried a PHIT workout from the Lune mother co app (feee 7 day trial) and it was phenomenal! They have barre, yoga, hit, core etc all specific to pregnancy and I really broke a sweat this morning without feeling like I over did it

What are you doing for your mental health? Getting a full 8 hours of sleep by going to bed early! Fuelling my body with healthy foods, getting outside once a day for some fresh air, making time for family

What mindfulness practices are you doing? I still do my Expectful meditations daily and I love them

Do you have any questions for the board? Nope!
  • What physical workouts are you doing? Managed a 45 minute Peloton Power Zone Endurance class followed by a stretch today. Other than that all I've done since last week is walk, been so tired! DH took Ben and the dog out for a long walk so the house would be quiet.

What are you doing for your mental health? Just trying to keep a balance. If I stay on top of things I don't get overwhelmed.

What mindfulness practices are you doing? Mostly trying to be patient with my 4YO, remind myself that he's just 4. A lot.

Do you have any questions for the board? Not today.
  • I’m super jealous of everyone with Peletons! Curious - Did y’all have them before the lockdown or get them when you had to stay inside? And are they all purchased or is there a monthly rental option?
  • @laurenspdx we actually bought it for each other for Valentine's Day, aka that was our excuse the buy it! There's no rental option but you can buy it outright or do installments through affirm. We did 3 years. The monthly subscription plus the bike payments are much less than we were spending with Orange Theory so we're very happy. We also both use it much more, it's just so convenient to have it in your own house around your own schedule. For accessories we just got the mat to go under the bike and the shoes. We each use our Garmin watches for the heart rate monitor. We also bought free weights for the strength classes. 4lbs for the bike itself, then 10,15,20, and 25. Those I just waited for a sale and got them from Target. We did get the extended warranty for the bike so it's covered for 3 years instead of the standard one year.
