Third Child

Hi!
This will be my third child! We are about to outnumbered!  Does anyone have an advice for having a #3 in the house?
Also, I am 8 weeks 4 days, and my jeans do not button anymore! Haven't gained weight, but I feel like my belly wants to pop out way sooner on this one! Happen to anyone else??

Re: Third Child

  • This will be my third, too, so I don't have any advice. My other two are from my first marriage so are a bit older (will be 7 and 9), which I think is a bit of a different situation. As for the pants, I think the only reason I haven't been struggling with my pants is because I've been in yoga pants full-time since I'm working from home. :-) I don't feel like I'm popping out but definitely feel like my waist is getting wider.

  • We do have a thread for "ask a BTDT Mom", several have 3 or more. You might want to ask there.
  • This is my 3rd child too. I didn’t even realize that meant we were outnumbered until my husband brought it up, then the panic set in haha.

  • This is baby #4 for me. My first two are older and from a previous relationship (16 and 13) so that is slightly different. From what I’ve heard from friends who have multiple young kids, the biggest adjustment is from 1 to 2. After that, it’s all the same.
  • @girlmama83 yes, my husband is starting to panic as well!
  • Expecting our 3rd as well! We'll have a little less than 5 years from oldest to youngest.

  • Same here - our oldest will be just a few months shy of 4 when baby number 3 arrives! But as a previous poster said, I have several friends with 3 who have assured me that if you can adjust from 0-1 then 1-2, any more than that seems to be a little easier. Hoping that's true!
  • I am currently a mom of three, with number 4 on the way.  My oldest was 4 years and 4 days old when baby # 3 arrived and DD had just turned 2.  It was definitely a busy time, but the hardest transition for us was going from 0 to 1.  My kids are now 8, 6, and 4 and are the best of friends and it has really been wonderful having 3 close in age.

This will be my 3rd as well. Older two will be 4.5 and 3 when baby arrives. Can’t speak to advice for having 3 but as far as your question about popping earlier, I definitely am. I haven’t been wearing many jeans lately bc quarantine life but when I did put some on a few days ago they were already snug in the waist. But same as you I haven’t actually gained much weight yet. Its looking like I will be much quicker to show this time around!
  • I’m lurking from January 2021 group, but this will hopefully be number 4 for us. My first 2 are 22months apart and are currently 9 and 7 the third one will be 3 in October. I think for me having the third one, I was so much more chill and knew what was “normal” and freaked out a lot less. I have even flown with all three by myself several times and it’s been no big deal. I’m wondering what 4 will bring...but I’m a bit more relaxed and at least my older 2 can help a bit more.

  • This will be #3 for us as well! I’m just over 10 weeks and pants are tight for me as well, my weight is pretty steady and I haven’t gained but I’m definitely feeling the bloat earlier this time.

We're having baby #3 as well (5th pregnancy) I am in the same boat with the non weight gain but having issues with jeans/pants that button! I did have to have surgery at the beginning of this pregnancy so I think that's also making my stomach even more uncomfortable with pants.

I'm hoping the transition from 2 - 3 goes smoothly!
  • If you can handle 2, you can handle 3, you'll just be a little more relaxed about things,  and while busier, some things you thought were uber important with #1, won't even be important anymore because you have more experience.
