Week of pregnancy: 14w+2d - baby is the size of a peach
Upcoming appointments: 5/27
Rant/Rave: Today is my first day back in the office for almost two months, feels good to be out of the house and back in my normal routine! Thankfully we are super spread out so I'm not super worried about being here. Also, feeling so glad to be in second tri and am trying to relax and enjoy pregnancy now. We got our NIPT results back over the weekend and are over the moon to find out baby is low risk for everything and is a boy. I would've been happy no matter what sex but was secretly hoping for a boy, lol!
Questions?: None right now
GTKY: What are you most worried about with this pregnancy or having a new baby? What are you most excited about? I think I have a lot of FTM fears that are probably silly, like worrying that I am not eating/exercising/sleeping perfectly, etc. I also have a lot of stress/worry around the fact that we still are in our crappy apartment with not much space and we really need to get into a house, but really I know that it'll work out and an apartment will be just fine with a newborn if we can't move by the time he is born. I am just so excited to get to experience the newborn/baby stages and to see my little one I have two amazing step daughters but I met them when they were 11 so I missed all of the fun younger years. I am just so excited for all of those firsts.
Upcoming appointments: Routine appointment on Wednesday, 5/13
Rant/Rave: This whole WFH thing has been challenging, but I am doing the best that I can in the midst of everything. Well today I got my performance review back and I got the highest rating possible, which is technically very hard to come by with the system we use in the federal government. I was so humbled by the words that my boss used to describe me, that I cried. Thank pregnancy hormones, but at least I am at home and no one saw hahaha.
Questions?: None at the moment.
GTKY: What are you most worried about with this pregnancy or having a new baby? What are you most excited about? I know it will happen naturally, but I worry about loving 2 girls as much as I love my DD. Like I know my heart is going to explode, but it seems difficult right now. I am the most excited about the fact that I have a job a love and one with almost zero stress. My last pregnancy I started a new job while pregnant and didn't tell my employer until I was 16 weeks so I felt like I needed to hide it. I told my boss at 6 weeks this time and I honestly could not have done a better thing for my mental health. I am also in full blown nursery planning mode and that makes me SOO excited!
Rant/Rave: Still waiting for NIPT results!!! Found out today that they are now analyzing the 2nd sample they took, either because of insufficient fetal DNA or it didn't meet their quality standards. So, maybe Friday end of day... It's also taking much longer because of COVID-19 security measures. I really hope it all comes back low risk this week as I've basically been a mess for 2 weeks now...

GTKY: What are you most worried about with this pregnancy or having a new baby? What are you most excited about? I'm most worried about baby's health, in my womb and in the outside world with this COVID-19.
I'm most excited about starting to buy all the cute stuff and taking care of that little one 💙
Upcoming appointments: Nutrition assessment (phone) on Thursday and Midwife on Friday
Rant/Rave: I had been feeling a little stressed about the hypertension diagnosis from my last appt, but did some research and feel more informed and better about it. I found some podcasts with good information aimed at OBs, so it felt good to get properly informed. I also checked out the Evidence Based Birth podcast and website, and read her book "Babies are Not Pizzas: They Are Born, Not Delivered" which I really enjoyed.
GTKY: What are you most worried about with this pregnancy or having a new baby? What are you most excited about? I'm most worried about things (blood pressure, Covid) that could interfere with another low intervention birth, as well as what will be going on with my work next school year. I am honestly just so excited to hold my baby girl and see her little face. Having experienced that feeling once, I am so looking forward to experiencing it again!

@bserena I totally feel you on the housing issue - I am here to tell you that you can definitely manage it, but it is harder. Our house is pretty tiny, and now we're faced with the question of where to put this new baby! Luckily we will probably be able to move late this summer (also so stressful!), but we won't know for sure for a while. And if we have to stay here for longer then this baby will just have to live in the living room 🤷♀️ @jaclyn0405 What a great feeling you must have gotten from that performance review! @mimser Oh no, how frustrating! I hope the time goes by fast for you and that you get results asap. ❤

GTKY: What are you most worried about with this pregnancy or having a new baby? What are you most excited about?
Oooof. I’m worried that the damage from the varicose veins are permanent. I’m worried I will have baby in the car (#2 was 15 minutes from 6 cm to 10cm). I’m worried that since we just moved here..And do not know many people....who is going to watch three very active girls for two days. I was really hoping to use this time to get to know people. I’m trying. It’s a bit harder with the quarantine.
I’m most excited to meet this little girl. I can’t wait to do all the last baby things I never did with the other three. I’m suuuper excited to have three months of maternity leave.
@jaclyn0405 wooohooo top ratings! I hate the now. It feels like I’m soooo inefficient! Way to ace it!
@bserena we’ve done small houses. Our current house for 3 kids and two dogs is small. For baby 1 and probably this babe....the baby slept in our room for the first year. Not ideal but it was what it was. Baby #1 slept in a pack and play😳 until she was two.
@bserena We'll end up moving in time, but I did some serious research last year about having a baby in a small space, minimalist approach to having a baby... and it was really encouraging, and actually fun.
@mimser@hedgepig@name1109 thank you all for your encouragement! I will definitely start looking into things I can do to make it work in a smaller space in case we can't move in time.
Rant/Rave: Feeling sick the last feel days (stomach stuff and slight fever) so been taking it easy. Yesterday, I woke up to find my husband researching pregnancy books for men - it was adorable.

GTKY: What are you most worried about with this pregnancy or having a new baby? What are you most excited about? All the FTM worries plus seriously thinking about a post-Covid NYC and the feasibility for us staying here. Seem like people are going to be moving out of the city in droves, once lockdown is over, and I'm not sure what we will end up doing. We were in contract to buy the apartment next door to do an extension, but with the market collapsing and me getting laid off - we had to reneg. @bserena I definitely feel your stress. I know things will work out in a 1-bed, but it wasn't my plan and I'm a little sad about not being able to nest. I'm most excited about meeting my little guy and seeing DH as a dad for the first time.
@bserena I hope this is allowed. I definitely am not trying to promote anything. But when I had our first kiddo I wrote about what products we bought to make it work. I state 1200 sqft because that’s what the real estate document stated but it was really 900 sqft. We still loved it. We lived downtown DC. Date night post kid was amazing!!!!! Anyhow, I wrote about what I thought I needed stuff wise. I didn’t have a nursery. Maybe you’ll find it helpful? https://mamathyme.com/being-mama/urban-baby/
Rant/Rave: we're trying to prep DS as much as you can a 15 month old for a new baby. He's really into identifying body parts right now and this morning when he pointed to my stomach I told him again "mama has a baby in her belly" and he kissed it! 😍😍
I've been getting headaches which are not normal for me and it's driving me nuts. I'm not dehydrated and my blood pressure is normal if not a little low for my normal. I'm going to mention it at my next appointment but ugh
Questions: none I can think of right now
GTKY: What are you most worried about with this pregnancy or having a new baby? What are you most excited about? Logistics of managing a toddler, newborn and dog with DH working longer days to make up for lost time and accommodate to new requirements at work. I think I'm going to try to hire a neighborhood teen to walk the dog a couple evenings a week when the weather gets cold again. I'm also going to try to actually do some freezer meals this time around
I'm excited for newborn snuggles and seeing DS become a big brother, hopefully he transitions well
Rant/Rave: Mother-in-law has started "handing down" baby stuff from when her own son (my husband) was a baby. So far, we have received 3 weird clown items and it really confuses me. She has BOXES of 30+yo baby clothes (as well as other boxes of toys and other baby gear) in the attic that she wants us to go through... (She even saved a baby crib, which was already offered, but we quickly turned it down for safety reasons of course.) I understand that she has good intentions, but I'm a little bit weirded out by everything she's been saving for future grandchildren? Hoping I can find a way to say no to what we really don't want or need...
Questions?: none right now
GTKY: What are you most worried about with this pregnancy or having a new baby? What are you most excited about? Right now, I'm worried that we're going to be so focused on the pregnancy that we're not going to be prepared to be parents when the baby is born. I'm afraid that we aren't going to have time to make parenting decisions together and then we are going to crash and burn. DH and I grew up in households with very different parenting styles... I'm also most excited about meeting my baby. I wonder what he will look like and what his personality will be like.
Upcoming appointments: just had one 5/12, next one 6/9
Rant/Rave: it’s a boy and we ditched the last name idea and settled on a name finally! Hudson Davis - we do all family names, so I was happy to be able to stick with that.
also - our lockdown is being lifted tomorrow and we start opening VA back up and I am sooooo excited!!!! We’ve only had 11 confirmed cases in the county I’m in and no deaths or hospitalizations from this specific area so I feel pretty good about starting to find our new normal. Mostly, I just want to go to TJ Maxx.

GTKY: What are you most worried about with this pregnancy or having a new baby? What are you most excited about? Not really worried but interested to see how the whole toddler/newborn thing plays out. My DD is 10 (will be turning 11 when DS is born) and she is a rockstar superhero sister/daughter and helps us out SO much. I’m just worried about my DS turning into the green headed monster. Oh well. I’m excited to keep growing our family! We will be a party of 7 once DS is here (includes 2 fur baby dogs) and I love it!

@magdaaaa no, no results yet, the nurse I spoke to on Monday said Friday(tomorrow), but I'm not holding my breath... But then it's a Holiday here next Monday, so I'd have to wait to Tuesday.
