  • How far along are you? 16+4

    Due date? 10/22

Upcoming appointments? Regular OB, 5/22, and anatomy scan a week or two afterward

Rant/rave? I'm debating on whether or not to go to the beach with my mother.  We have a "standing date" for a vacation together every year at Myrtle Beach (she has a timeshare). She has two weeks; normally I go with her for Labor Day week and my brother goes with her in June, but obviously Labor Day week is out for me this year because that will be too late in the pregnancy to fly that far.  MB is marginally open (pools are still closed, as are sitdown restaurants, but the beach is accessible, with social distancing in place) for her June week (1st week of June), but I am torn about going.  On the one hand, I really, really could use the vacation and mommy time (I live in Cali and she lives in North Carolina).  Also, last year we only got 2 days at the beach before it shut down because of a hurricane.  On the other hand, however, there are both the COVID concerns as well as taking a week off work that could go toward maternity leave.  I just don't know...

    Questions? Just what's noted above.

GTKY: What's one place you want to go to, but have never been? I would love to go somewhere South Pacific-y, like Tahiti or Bali.

Upcoming appointments? Phone appointment later today. In person beginning of June

Rant/rave? This is my first pregnancy, and I felt so honored to be included in many Mother’s Day wishes from friends and family. My boyfriend’s mom even sent me a card that read “future best mom ever”. Really warmed my heart.

Questions? Don’t have any right now.

GTKY: What's one place you want to go to, but have never been? The place I really want to go is Sweden. I’ve been, but I went when I was 7, so I don’t think that counts. My grandfather’s parents were both from there, they met in the US, so I would love to see the towns where my family lived.

@kboydbowman I personally wouldn’t go because travel scares me right now. The thought of being around others at the airport, and then on the flight is just too much for me.  I understand your desire to go though, so that is a tough decision. I would maybe ask your doctor to see what their opinion on it is.
  • @kboydbowman lurking from week 3, but do you really think labor day is too late to go? I wouldn't feel comfortable making the trip in June personally. Side note--I'm flying to Seattle for a wedding over labor day from Indiana. I figure I shouldn't be more than 32 or 33 weeks? (Haven't actually calculated it.) I went past due last time though so I am pretty comfortable that I won't deliver that early.
  • @carrotsandpeas3 the airlines don't like you to travel after 28 weeks, and I would be more like 31 weeks at that point

@kboydbowman I don't think that's true. Pretty sure it's 36 weeks. Some more stringent for international travel, but definitely not 28 weeks for domestic. Totally up to you and your doctor's discretion though.

ETA: I read "won't let you" when you said "don't like you to" so maybe that's true, but they can't stop you until 36 I believe.

    Due date? Oct. 31

Upcoming appointments? Ob June 5, AS June 12

Rant/rave? I have been sleeping sooo much and I still feel like I could take a nap during the day sometimes. I go to bed at 930 and I'm barely able to get out of bed by 8. I'm also crying a LOT. My poor husband.

    Questions? Not really this week.

GTKY: What's one place you want to go to, but have never been? Husband and I were just talking about this! I really want to visit Alaska, but my real hope is that for our 5 year wedding anniversary we can take 2 weeks during the summer to drive all of hwy 101 up the west coast. I've never been to most of the west coast and would love to drive it leisurely stopping whenever we feel like it and spending a few days exploring each place.
@kboydbowman I'm scheduled to fly to see my mom in TN on June 30 till July 9. I talked to my doctor about it last week. He isnt thrilled, but was happy I splurged on first class. He did say he wasnt as concerned about my actual time on the plane, but rather the time in the airport. He suggested washing both my hands and face when I land, eat anything, and right before I get on the next plane, also obviously wear a mask at all times, have a spare, gloves in the airport were also suggested. I also plan to have a separate outfit in my outer bag pocket with a trash bag so before I get in a car with my mom I can change into 'safe' clothing. I just cant imagine not seeing my mom until the baby is born, it's my first and I want to share it with her. I think whatever decision you make it has to be yours. Just so you know a lot of airlines are running specials so you can move a flight for free for up to a year if you have to cancel. Check the individual airline websites for deals like that so even if you do book it and then change your mind you can turn it into a post baby trip.

    Due date? 10/23

Upcoming appointments? Telemedicine appointment on 6/1 and bloodwork to check TSH. AS will be scheduled for early June.

Rant/rave? Rave: DH finally set up the swing set/play structure in our backyard so it will be nice for my son to have somewhere to play while the parks are closed. Another rave: I enrolled in the telemedicine program at the birthing center and they sent me home with a Doppler. I am listening to baby 1x/week so my husband can be more involved since he is not attending our in person appointments.

    Questions? None right now

GTKY: What's one place you want to go to, but have never been? Montana: I’ve been there as a child and teen, but never as an adult. DH and I would love to do a road trip up there for camping, hiking, trail running and road biking. We are actually going to purchase a Toyota Sienna van and a Roofnest car top tent so we can go adventuring with our 2 kiddos.
  • How far along are you? - 16+4

    Due date? -  Oct 23

Upcoming appointments? - Today! It was a quick appointment fetal heart rate was 150bpm and they said everything seems correct. Next appointment is Anatomy Scan on May 29 and to review results on June 2.

Rant/rave? - I would love my boyfriend to be able to go with me to the next ultrasound, he is missing so much! We got NIPT results back a couple of weeks ago and we are having a baby boy! There are only boys on my boyfriend's family so he knew it was going to be a boy (I was hoping for a girl) and everyone in both families wanted a girl too but overall we are all happy that he is healthy for now and growing like a champion

    Questions? - Nop

GTKY: What's one place you want to go to, but have never been? - I really want to have 2 weeks off to drive from Alberta through the west coast all the way to California. After 6 years in Canada I have only visited Seattle and surrounding areas and took a long weekend in Vegas (thanks low cost airlines!). I think I'm going to love the food and environment along the coast.
  • @glupglup My brother has 4 boys (all adopted), my boyfriend’s brother has 4 girl’s. Whatever our results were would break the streak of one family. So I definitely understand the hopes of family who have only one sex wanting the other sex. I’ll just say while both families are very excited, mine is even more excited. 😉😉

    Due date?  Oct 28

Upcoming appointments?  May 21 for a checkup, early June for anatomy scan

Rant/rave?  This stupid flood has been such a pain in the ass, in so many ways.  Getting used to the boil water advisory (fingers crossed it’s lifted before September, their current timeline!) but we lost our post office distribution centre for the time being.  My mom shipped something to me, that I assume is fairly sentimental and can’t be replaced. It was scheduled to be delivered the day it flooded....  Canada Post can’t/won’t tell me where the package is or when it will be delivered, if ever.  My mom is super stressing out about it which makes me stressed, and she won’t tell me what it is.  I also want to order a pregnancy pillow and some maternity pants as my usual ones are getting hard to button up, and it’s looking like a month to get anything delivered at least.  Ughhhhh.  On the plus side, completely unrelated, a good girlfriend of my had a son about a year ago so just gave me her car seat to use, plus a rocker that he outgrew, so that will save me a few hundred dollars! Meets all the safety criteria for my province, with proof of purchase etc so all good there too.

    Questions?  Nah

GTKY: What's one place you want to go to, but have never been?  I’d like to see the rest of Canada - never been to the east coast or Nunavut.  I’d also like to do a west coast tour through the US, take a month or so and camp a long the way - did that going north through AB, NWT, Yukon, AK and BC, it was fantastic.  I love road rips lol.

    Due date? Oct. 31

    Upcoming appointments? 5/19 check up

Rant/rave? I‘m still not feeling as well as I’d hoped I’d be feeling at this point. Vomited yesterday morning from brushing my teeth 🤢 I felt like I was getting some energy back earlier in the week but last few days I just crashed

    Questions? Nope

GTKY: What's one place you want to go to, but have never been? So many places I’d love to go. My H and I had a trip to Iceland planned mid-April (first 1 without toddler!) and obviously had to cancel/postpone. I’d love to visit some African countries and the Gold Coast of Australia
  • @Rena21 I still feel nauseous if I don’t eat or drink enough. I’m always worried it will turn into vomiting again, and I’m prepared incase it does. After I started feeling better I still had morning (all day) sickness rear it’s ugly head to remind me I was definitely still pregnant.

I hope it subsides for you soon. It is definitely an energy snapper to feel so sick, and I don’t have a child that I also have to keep entertained.
  • Rena21Rena21 member
Yesss I’m scarred from all the vomiting and I’m paranoid that it’ll happen whenever I eat or drink something (or don’t). Can’t win.
