Re: May Appointments

My next appointment isn't till May 11th.  It's a teleconsult for my VBAC clearance.  I basically have to be on standby to answer my phone from 9AM-5PM. 🤦 So I may call to ask that they call the landline jic...

I'm headed in this afternoon for an EKG and possible ultrasound of my heart. I've been struggling this entire pregnancy with different complications and it just sucks. I've been having high blood pressure since the beginning so they put me on a beta blocker at my last appointment. Since then, I've been just feeling awful; having heart palpitations, irregular heartbeat, chest pain, shortness of breath and racing heart after even the simplest task(i.e. rolling over in bed), hands and arms going numb, and swelling in my hands when I wake up. I'm honestly really scared at this point that I'm not going to make it to full term. We are only 25w3d, so I'm terrified we are going to end up spending 3 months in the NICU. So yeah... that's my fun for the day.

@KansasFarmMomma Hugs. I've had a few EKGs while pregnant. It's not fun, but hopefully they can get you straightened out and baby can bake a bit longer. I know it's scary, but you are strong, and this is a great way to figure out what's happening and go from there. Deep breaths, mama, you got this.

Big hugs, @KansasFarmMomma. I hope they can find a way to calm your symptoms and that you get a positive result from your EKG that keeps you pregnant for a looooong time.

@BusinessWife that is a huge range. And some times are super crappy to have a phone conversation. I bet that’s when they’ll call 😐

Thank you ladies. I had the EKG done and it didn’t show anything abnormal other than my heart rate was elevated(this and my blood pressure have been an ongoing problem since the beginning). He’s not sure if the symptoms are related to my body not handling the beta blocker(Labetalol) well or if there is something else going on. He decided to switch me from the beta blocker to a calcium channel blocker(NIFEdipine) and see if I can handle that better. They also pulled a whole slew of blood for bloodwork but I won’t hear any of those results until probably Monday. He said he’s on call this weekend so if I have ANY problems to call in and he would be there for me. I love my doctor. This is my third pregnancy and I had ZERO problems with the first two. This one, I’ve been feeling perpetually worse and worse as time goes on. I go back next Friday for a re-check. He said he may move me up to weekly appointments so they can keep a better eye on me. So yeah, it’s been a long day.

@KansasFarmMomma hope the new meds help significantly. Sounds like you have found a good doc to care for you 💙
