Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
Upcoming Appointments: labwork on 4/27, 5/20 regular OB, anatomy scan about a week after that per OB
Rant/Rave: Was pretty bummed that my appointment for 4/24 got changed to a phone appointment at the last minute. Currently not getting along well with the boy person (he is not my boyfriend but we live together and he is the father of the baby - it's a very complicated situation) and am seriously contemplating telling him to go to hell and move out. I probably won't, but it's becoming increasingly tempting.
GTKY: What are your talents? I do really good impressions of Forrest Gump, the Wicked Witch of the West, any variety of Southern accent you might want, and Janis Joplin's singing voice.
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
Upcoming appointments: regular OB visit on 5/4 and then ultrasounds every 2 weeks from here on out to monitor baby and my cervix. I also start weekly progesterone shots in May as well.
Rant/rave: like everyone else this quarantine is really taking a toll on my mental/ physical well being. I also desperately want to do a major purge in my house but nowhere is open to accept donations so it’s kind of pointless at this point.
GTKY: I don’t really have any special talents. I’m a good baker though. Not really a talent but I do have a green thumb. I love gardening. It’s relaxing and gives me a sense of accomplishment to see all of flowers and plants thriving.
Upcoming Appointments: OB 5/5 I also have to go in this week for more bloodwork.
Rant/Rave: I almost punched the ultrasound doctor in the face. He's not my OB, had never met me before, and decided to lecture me on my weight and pontificate on how many carbs are needed in a day without ever asking me about my diet or hx. When I tried to interject and explain my rather unique body composition he said "your BMI is your BMI and that is all that matters". I was livid. It ruined what should've been a great day of seeing my little Borg roll around and play. I spent all last year with a personal trainer and in the gym 4-5 times a week. I was a size 6-7 before I got pregnant and he wants to talk to me about not 'indulging'.
GTKY: What are your talents? I'm an artist, my undergraduate degree was in studio arts before I went into the psychology field. I also play the cello, though admittedly not very well anymore lol. I'm a great cook and Baker, I am frequently the one to provide cakes and goodies for parties.
Week of pregnancy: 13+5, will be starting HDBD this Wednesday when I officially hit trimester #2!
Upcoming Appointments: May 21 for my monthly checkup
Rant/Rave: the spring river breakup in my town has resulted in a massive ice jam, and half my town is flooded/evacuated. Luckily my house isn't in any danger from that, but our water treatment plant is affected. We're under a boil water advisory until further notice, and here's what is coming out of the taps right now. My office and work truck are in a few feet of water currently, so I'm hoping they deal with that properly and we don't have mold issues.....
GTKY: What are your talents? I have a very good memory for numbers, and I can touch my nose with my tongue? Uncoordinated as can be though.
Upcoming Appointments: 1st appointment at the birthing center on 5/5.
Rant/Rave: The rehab clinic where I work is re-opening next week. I’m happy to still have a job, but nervous about working and interacting with so many people. It’s not like you can practice social distancing with a 2 year old and most of the kiddos I see will refuse to wear a mask.
GTKY: What are your talents? I wouldn’t necessarily call these true talents... but I have amazing endurance. I can run/hike forever, not always fast, but I can keep going without stopping. Another “talent” is being able to understand “toddler talk”. As a speech therapist I’m used to hearing young kids talk and I can usually understand them even when no one else can.
Seems like a lot of ladies are dealing with difficult situations or difficult/inconsiderate people! Hoping things improve for you all quickly!
Upcoming Appointments: Next appointment is a phone appointment in May. I don’t see a doctor till early June.
Rant/Rave: I was able to talk to the laidback doctor at the office today, and he didn’t seem worried about my very slightly high glucose test. My numbers would have been in range at other doctor’s offices because their scale is higher. I was worried about fasting with morning sickness. If I don’t eat every few hours I feel, and many times do get sick. He is letting me watch my glucose at home for two days before deciding if I should do the fasting 3 hour test. I am so relieved!
GTKY: What are your talents? Um, I guess mine would be gardening as well. As you can see from my username, I like to save plants from the 50% off rack at the garden center. I like seeing if I can save them, and make them look good again.
@aefsparrow I would have been livid. I was actually just asking my doctor about getting enough protein because all I’ve wanted are carbs. His response was, well it’s not good to eat mainly carbs, but it’s not terrible. He didn’t lecture me at all, and that was what I needed. I’m now much more gung-ho about trying because I wasn’t shamed. So sorry to you, and know you’re not alone.
@anitamargarita_82 I don’t know if it’s regional, but the Goodwill near me is still taking donations. I know each stare might have different regulations, and I believe Goodwill rules are decided regionally, but it might be worth seeing.
Rant: Living with my in laws is taking a toll on my mental health. There is no place to relax by myself. No matter what I do my MIL feels like she needs to help me and mostly in the most passive aggressive ways. I don't really have anyone to talk to about the situation. My husband and I have a lot of talks but he doesn't truly get how I feel.
Rave: I honestly don't know how to feel with states reopening but hopefully all goes better than expected.
GTKY...talents: I have no true talents. I have a really good memory & sense of smell (even before pregnancy) so that's something.
@animalandplantrescuer I started doing a morning protein shake everyday because I was concerned about getting enough protein as well. Frankly I’m getting better nutrition now. I bought some vanilla protein powder and I use orange juice as the liquid. I’ve been making them every morning with tons of fruit. This morning was strawberries, pineapple, raspberry and banana and some ice. It’s very filling and a bit decadent.
Upcoming Appointments: 5/20 next ob, 6/3 anatomy scan
Rant/Rave: Rave: team pink! I was having boy feelings, but secretly hoping for a girl. ♀️️ Rant: Now I'm ready to pick a name and DH won't give any opinions/doesn't seem to want to talk about it.
GTKY: What are your talents? I'm really good at games (board, card, etc.). I'm the designated family game-ologist, which mostly means I'm the one stuck trying to explain rules to the drinks 😂
@aefsparrow so sorry you had that experience! I have been overweight my whole life and have had more than a few doctors over the years give unsolicited and completely inappropriate (and more often than not inaccurate) advice. It never feels good and just makes you less comfortable to be in their care. 💗
@anitamargarita_82 It sounds like you’re doing great nutrition wise. I might have to consider that as well.
My other problem is I have been pretty close to vegetarian for most of my life, so it’s hard to all of a sudden want meat, especially when it doesn’t sound appetizing. We can only do the best we can, and that is good enough.
@animalandplantrescuer I've been using Dr. Praeger's veggie burgers and chik*n strips to fill those needs... I'm also using chia seeds to increase daily protein and fiber needs, they have been a life saver.
@aefsparrow Thanks so much for the suggestions. My doctor also suggested grains that have protein like quinoa and brown rice. I’ll definitely need to start incorporating chia seeds back in my diet. I completely forgot about those. I love them on my bagel and cream cheese.
I should start using the chia seeds again too. My latest blood draws showed me my protein is just a touch low.
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
