I don't like dogs. They are so needy. They crawl up your butthole every time you walk through the door. They constantly need to be fed or given treats or taken out to poo or groomed. They stink 99% of the time.
@dumbledoredies@bserena i don’t love “pets” at all. Maybe it’s because I feel like 3 kids (almost 4) is enough to keep alive but we’re not a pet friendly family. And SO and the kids hate me for it but I am not signing up to be president of another life.
My UO is I hate food scented candles. Ew. I do not want my house smelling like candle wax apple pie or bacon or sugar cookies 🤢 and that’s pregnant or not.
@Ecat504 YESSSS!!!! I feel that way about stuff you put on your body too. I want nothing to do with vanilla, coconut, strawberry, apple, almond, cinnamon, etc. scented lotion, hand soap, body soap, bath bombs, body sprays, candles, etc. YUCK.
I hate the “Great Question Thread”😑😑😑 I like the old way when the boards were full of action and questions. Now every time I come here it’s the same threads over and over. It’s so dead to me.

I agree with all of these unpopular opinions so far! I love my dog, but I agree that they need so much more than my cat does.
Food scented candles have always weirded me out. I prefer the floral scents.
I get confused when all of the smaller posts are directed to the "Great Questions Thread." I have soooooo much trouble following along with all the responses because I can't remember which person asked which question... when there's a singular topic on a thread, it's easier to follow the conversation.
Newman O's are superior in taste than Oreo's. There, I said it.
@Ecat504 I hate all the conventional candle smells (pretty much anything you could buy at B&BW or Yankee Candle). However, I LOVE a quality scented candle. I like smokey woodsy smells like Sandalwood and Palo Santo, especially.
@dumbledoredies Agree to disagree on cats v. dogs. I'm an animal person - I love them all - but dogs are the most loving and wonderful pets!
@laurenmicheley I had 2 dogs growing up and they were amazing and so loving! As an adult though I just cant get into the idea of having one lol.
I prefer the way the board is organized now. To me, it's way easier to have a conversation and keep a conversation flowing in a single thread versus 60 different threads on the same topic. It's less cluttered and easier to get to know people.
Also, if you dont like the way the board is organized there are plenty of other communities where you can post all your one off questions in a cluttered fashion.
@dumbledoredies I am definitely with you on this. Every other board/site I have gone to is cluttered and filled with a million random posts. There is no organization or real sense of community. I much prefer it organized the way we have it.
@dumbledoredies I like teakwood smells, mahogany, sandalwood, fresh linen. I have a set of Disney candles that smell like different things around Disney (Polynesian hotel lobby, haunted mansion, etc).
I also agree about preferring this board organization. It’s much easier to have conversations and everything is in one place. I wish people would read the pinned posts before coming @ us.
I’m somewhere in the middle on the board organization. I like the organization and I do get irritated when there is clearly already a thread on that topic (looking at you spotting/bleeding/threatened loss) where a poster could find the support that they are looking for but they choose to make their own thread. But I do understand to some extent when people create their own thread when it is a topic that is separate from any existing threads.
@dumbledoredies I'm with you on dogs. I like them, I just don't like that they are often dirty/stinky/drooly, I don't like it when they jump on me, and I can be really intimidated by barking dogs. Often they are just too needy for me. Nothing against them in general, and a well behaved, well groomed dog is very cool, but so many aren't. Cats ftw here. @Ecat504 I'm with you on scents. Generally I hate strongly scented anything, but all the food scents are extra bad. @laurenmicheley 100% on Newmans Os.
Oh boy, we must be a real BMB now, as the board organization debate has arrived! Obviously I am in favor of board organization. This board could easily become completely overwhelmed by one off threads such that the regs would have a hard time finding the weekly threads that we use to build community. I don't mind more specific threads on topics, but what drives me up the wall is the repetition. These random threads are almost always started by drivebys who haven't introed or bothered to read around at all, otherwise they'd see that a) there is a designated place to post, and b) their question has probably already been answered. So instead we'd wind up with many threads that are variations on the same question. I hate that we are working hard to get to know each other and form a supportive community, then a bunch of randos want to show up and use us as google.
To be fair, we only really need to be vigilant about this during these early stages - later when we have a core group of regs and are in a good routine, things will relax a lot. I don't think anyone minds when a reg posts a separate post, especially if it was something that was designed to be helpful for the group - i.e. framed as a question that applies to many people rather than just the OP.

@hedgepig I absolutely agree with everything you wrote on board organization. And I am totally cool with a regular member creating a thread on a new topic that can be helpful for others as well. What bothers me is the people who, like you said, use this as a personal google and don't take the time to get to know the group or participate or read the pinned posts.
@hedgepig Thank you for explaining more about the organization. This is an UO thread so I don't see anything wrong in voicing my point of view earlier. Didn't mean to complain. Your feedback definitely helped me understand a little more. I like this board because I like the weekly threads and I agree that it's a way to get to know each other better. Hadn't thought about how a bunch of random posts would fill up the board and make the weeklies harder to find.
I still find the Great Question Thread hard to follow, so I hope that I don't ask a question that's already been answered at some point. Could the GQT lead to separate topic threads if there are common topics being brought up? This is my first time on a board like this, so thank you for the perspective. We are still a fairly new board also and starting off with a solid organization will definitely help us keep more cohesive conversations in the long run.
@warmwinter No offense taken! An open conversation is much welcome (as are UOs - that's what it's there for!) 😁
I'd love to hear what others think, but for me, I think we'll probably start having separate topics for things that get lots of questions (like how to announce, symptoms, NIPT and testing, Baby Names, and other threads we already have) - in the same way that we have product spotlights (which, btw, is a mostly new innovation since I was last in a BMB and which I love). It's nice to have GQT as a catchall (although we could do it monthly if that would make it more manageable), but having themed threads like "What My Pregnant Self Is Eating" or "Baby Movement/Quickening" or "High Risk Check In" or ....? I'd love to hear from others on what they think. I like it when a reg sees the need for a thread and starts it, especially when they frame it as something that will be useful for many. If it's a question that is very specific to the poster, it should go in GQT or similar.

@hedgepig yes! I'm all for new topics on questions that pertain to more then 1 person and I have no issues if a member who is taking the time to get to know us starts a thread asking something that we can have a conversation on.
@warmwinter I didn't think you were complaining at all! It's important to have these discussions and bring up your feelings because I'm sure there are others who feel the same way as you. Would a monthly question thread help like @hedgepig suggested? Or even a weekly thread? I personally dont care if the same question gets asked a million times in the question thread because that's what it's there for!
My UO is...I HATE muted colors. I mean yes they look good. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE BRIGHT TEALS and fun fun prints on babies! No. I don’t want quiet sedated colors.
Mahogany Teakwood from BBW and Leather scented candles are my go to.
I love my dogs... cats are ok, but I really don’t trust them.. I always think they are plotting something.🤣
I think the board organization is working pretty well. I primarily use my iPhone to get to the Bump and searching for posts is a hit or miss. In previous boards I would always see people(myself included )getting lectured on posting in the wrong area. It’s probably one of the reasons I wasn’t as active in the past.
UO that should not be an UO because it’s just true IPhone >Android 📱😁 ... and Carole Baskins killed her husband.
