Re: Weekly check-in, Week 4+ (10/22-10/31) - 4/20

  • Estimated due date (EDD): 10/23

    Week of pregnancy: 13w 3d

    Upcoming Appointments: May 5th

Rant/Rave: Rave: I couldn’t believe it initially, but I’ve been feeling baby flutters for the past few days. I’m very excited about this because I didn’t feel anything until much later on during my last pregnancy. Rant: DS, who is 13 months old, has been having the hardest time falling asleep at night. I feel so bad when he is crying, but when I go in the room to comfort him it often makes it worse because he calms down and then once I leave again he starts the screaming all over again. I’ve thought about putting him to bed later, but no matter what time he falls asleep he’s always awake around 5:30 so I can’t put him to bed too late. He’s still sleeping through the night, but bedtime has been terrible! I know it’s just a stage, but I wish I could figure out how to make it easier for him.

GTKY: Have you ever met a celebrity? If so, who and how?  If not, who would you most like to meet and why? I’m not sure if this counts as a celebrity, but I did meet the ultra runner Kilian Jornet when he gave a presentation in Boulder,CO.

    Week of pregnancy: 13+4

    Upcoming Appointments: 4/24 OB (regular)

Rant/Rave: I have gained SO. MUCH. WEIGHT.  Seriously, as of this morning I am 19.5 pounds over my starting weight.

GTKY: Have you ever met a celebrity? If so, who and how?  If not, who would you most like to meet and why? Wilson Cruz, when I organized a queer conference in Buffalo, NY back in 1999 or 2000.  A couple others, but that's the first one I remembered.

  • Estimated due date (EDD): Oct. 31 🎃

    Week of pregnancy: 12 + 2

    Upcoming Appointments: Ultrasound 4/24

Rant/Rave: My husband is amazing... thank god, because the emotion thing is insane. I cry for no reason. For extended periods of time. I also keep waking up in the middle of the night for no reason and not being able to fall back asleep... its irritating as shit.

GTKY: Have you ever met a celebrity? If so, who and how?  If not, who would you most like to meet and why? Several, at various times. I worked at a resort during high school and undergrad and met a bunch, Jessica Simpson, Ryan Renolds, Raven Simone, the band Phish... was in a small dive bar with Zac Effron and Dwayne Johnson.

    Week of pregnancy: 12 + 2

Upcoming Appointments: Nuchal Translucency (4/21- tomorrow!)

Rant/Rave: When I was pg with my first I had a fairly uneventful 1st trimester- a bit of nausea and exhaustion but nothing crazy. This time around I was diagnosed with HG and can’t keep any food or liquids down, even with anti-nausea meds. I’ve reverted to childhood snacks like pop tarts because I’m desperate. It’s truly truly awful. Some days I can’t get out of bed. My husband, on the other hand, has been truly amazing, balancing WFH, housework, and our rowdy toddler.

GTKY: Have you ever met a celebrity? If so, who and how?  If not, who would you most like to meet and why? A few...I interned at a modeling agency when I was in college and got to go to the premiere and after party of the last die hard movie. I met Bruce Willis, Demi, all their kids + Ashton (they were still married) as well as Len Weisman (director?) and Kate Beckinsale (who were also still married). I ran into Paula Abdul once in an elevator because a later job was located in the same building as her talent agency (this was a little while after she broke her nose because of her chihuahua so she told that story). I also ran into Taylor Swift at a Cosi located in aforementioned office building. She was grabbing lunch w her mom and friends. I think she had a concert at MSG that night- she was already famous but not crazy so. There’ve been other random encounters, I guess a consequence of right place/right time.
  • Estimated due date: 10/30

    Week of pregnancy: 12w4d

Upcoming appointments:  4/23 NT scan, NIPT, meeting with perinatal doctor to formulate a plan for this pregnancy.

Rant/rave:  I too am gaining a lot of weight already.  Up about 15lbs so far.  Struggling with body image.  I was the same way with my DD though.  I gained close to 60lbs sign her.  I’m also really struggling with my emotions this go round.   I’m crying a lot and super ragey.   Being cooped up now for 6 weeks with a 3 year old isn’t helping any either.

GTKY:   Celebs... hmm.  Met Nancy Reagan many years ago.   George Bush Sr.  Those 2 were Navy related though.  That’s about it.   I’ve seen lots of other celebs come to our ships but not actually spoken to them.

  • @kboydbowman I’m with you on the weight gain.  With my DD I tried to continue my calorie counting and logging all my food.   Then one month I gained 10lbs and got lectured by my mid wife.  After that I told them I refused to discuss my weight.   And wouldn’t look at the scale when they weighed me.   I only made it to 31weeks with my DD so who knows how much I would have actually gained.   It was hard.  A daily struggle with body image for me.  I did lose it all though within the first year after she was born but I had to work hard to get it off.
  • @Rena21 I'm right there with you. I'm on 2 different medications for the nausea and vomiting and still can't handle food or for a long time even water. My husband has been doing everything for me. This is my first pregnancy so I'm having some sort a life crisis because I've always wanted a big family.
  • @orangev23 girl I hear you. I told my husband that if this is how my first pregnancy went I’d seriously reconsider getting pregnant again. I’ve been seeing these random Instagram posts from mom influencers saying “I’m at week 30 and I’m now only throwing up once a day as opposed to 5! It’s all worth it” and I’m like what? STFU.
    Hang in there!!
  • EDD: 10/24

    Week of pregnancy: 13w3d

    Upcoming appointment: 5/15

Rant: I'm afraid to eat anything I love because I'm having so many aversions. Cheese, Bagels, Chicken, Eggs, Dr. Pepper, Tea, Potatoes and more. I can't open the fridge without possibly getting sick.

ALSO I feel like my body can't deal with anything beside growing this tiny human. I keep getting almost like chaffing around my groin bikini line area. I've never had that issue before & randomly sore down there as well like as if it was bruised but nothing.

GTKY: celebs... I've talked to Herschel Walker and his whole family multiple times. I've ran into L.L Cool J literally my face hit his shoulder. The Jonas Brothers used to live a town over so I saw them around. Drew Lynch, a youtuber/comedian came into work with his dog Stella because she was injured. && lastly before he was famous my sister was good friends with Cody Linley. Nothing fancy.
  • Estimated due date (EDD):  Oct 28

    Week of pregnancy:  13+1

Upcoming Appointments:  routine check-up in an hour

Rant/Rave:  my boyfriend wasn't allowed to come to my ultrasound on Tuesday, which sucked.  What sucks more is how massively bummed out he is about it.  I get it, he wants to he there as much as possible, and I love that, but there are inevitably going to be moments in this little one's life that we miss.  Maybe I'm out getting groceries for their first steps.  Maybe he's at work the first time baby says 'daddy'.  Shit is gonna happen, can't let it ruin your whole week every time.  Be thankful everything is going well and focus on the positives.

GTKY: Have you ever met a celebrity? If so, who and how?  If not, who would you most like to meet and why?  Not real celebrities.  I cant think of anyone I'd really care to meet truthfully.  Maybe Chris Hadfield, I think he'd be interesting.
  • Estimated due date (EDD): Oct 23

Week of pregnancy: Almost 14 (tomorrow)

Upcoming Appointments: Had one yesterday to get results from NIPT and NT scan. Everything seems to be going great! Next appointment is in mid May.

Rant/Rave: we started thinking names yesterday and it's going to me more difficult than expected! We are a bilingual family and need something that works well in both languages.

GTKY: Have you ever met a celebrity? If so, who and how?  If not, who would you most like to meet and why?      I saw Antonio Banderas last Christmas doing a performance at a small theatre but never really met a celebrity before.
  • Estimated due date (EDD): Oct 26

Week of pregnancy: 13 weeks 5 days

Upcoming Appointments: Had my NIPT blood draw, and my glucose test today. Next appointment is the beginning of May, and it’s a telephone appointment.

Rant/Rave: I got the results from my glucose test, and I was 3 points over their top range. Now I have to do the 3 hour glucose test. I’m stressing about it because if I don’t eat the second I get up, I usually feel nauseous, and sometimes throw up. I don’t know how I’m going to fast for 10 hours followed by 3 hours for the test. I’m just hoping the morning sickness subsides with the transition into the second trimester this next week.

GTKY: Have you ever met a celebrity? If so, who and how?  If not, who would you most like to meet and why? I worked at Trader Joe’s around Southern California for over 10 years, and each store had celebrities come into shop. Some of them were the mom from Boy Meets World (my favorite show growing up), Danny Pudi from Community, Jason Lee, and Horace Grant. I have to say Horace Grant is the tallest person I have ever met. I just looked it up, and he is 6 ft 10 in!!!

But my favorite person I’ve met, not at Trader Joe’s, would be Jason Mraz. He is my favorite artist.

New rant:  due to the spring melt/river breakup (now giant ice jam) half my town is flooded and we're under a boil water advisory until further notice.  And now my tap water is running a funky yellowish colour.  So that's super exciting.  Luckily my house is in no danger of flooding, but my office and work truck are in a few feet of water.  Hopefully they properly dry everything out, don't  need mold issues.....
