R/R: We made it to Wednesday! Even though it’s chilly, it’s a beautiful sunny day today and I already feel more energized than I did yesterday! Even though it’s April 15, we are still working extended hours. I’m trying to get them all in during the week so I can have the weekend totally free. It’s stressful but I know it will be worth it. Happy hump day everyone! 🐪

WAYDTGKU: prenatals, temping, currently NTNP

R/R: not much going on today. Still working to put together some example homemade instruments for my students. It works well with Earth Day next week - they can use recycled materials from around their houses to make instruments!
I started shopping around for a ukulele yesterday. I have one that I've owned since I was 12 but it's quarantined in school and I have no idea when I'll be able to get it again. I've also been wanting to upgrade to a higher quality one and a different size. I've got my eye on a beautiful tenor ukulele. Just gotta get DH on board.

@gingermama29 aww fun! I do marketing/PR for my local library and we just started a virtual ukulele class for kids, it's so cute.

R/R: My H is home from work and needed a project to work on, so he's redoing our spare room (which will eventually be a nursery). We have a gallon each of Whisper White, Polar Bear, and Swiss Coffee (all Behr-brand paints) and I have to decide which one to go with today (I'm sure he'll be no help on that particular piece, haha). Anyone else doing any home improvement/renovation projects right now?

R/R: now that im almost caught up with the mountain of laundry i neglected and i feel like a human again and not sequestered to the couch with allergies, im going to get back on the organization train today and clean out a storage closet. ill take (embarassing) before pics and (hopefully amazing) after pics

CS/Q: should i be using opk's 2x a day? premom nudged me yesterday to but i usually just do in the morning. also, i have to coax DH into HIO today for sure, wish me luck!

@bows22 it was cold enough yesterday that we got snow! I think it's still chilly today for us (in the 30s I think?) but the sun is shining here too! GL getting everything done so you have a free weekend!

@gingermama29 Hope you don't require too much effort to get a new ukulele. I'd love to see a picture when you get it!

@the_most_happy you have a gallon of each?? Why not buy some sample containers first? Those little sample containers actually cover a decent area to give you a good idea of how it looks on the wall. We've mostly been doing very minor projects like I replaced a few dead bulbs and tossed all the old lights we forever reason decided to hold on to... and we upgraded the lights in our home office room.

R/R: our virtual robotics team meeting was a lot of fun last night! We've been doing jeopardy games and also have had a few guest speakers to talk about their careers and how they got there. Last night was a guy who previously worked at SpaceX and now works at Boeing so that was really fun to listen to. Both DH and I agree that he could probably be BFFs with the guy haha.

@gingermama29 I’m not exactly sure. I only help with taxes if I have no other work and haven’t been in the office so I have no idea if we are ahead or behind or what. They treat everyone the same though regardless if you do taxes or not. They decreased our hours some when everything with covid started so I guess they think keeping them raised now evens that out? But I have my own agreement/schedule so I continued to do my thing and didn’t reduce. But now I’m just doing what everyone else is because I don’t feel like it’s the right time to be like “but how does this affect me???” So I’m rolling with it for now. Long winded answer to your question haha. I hope you can get YH on board for the ukelele! I feel like everyone deserves a little treat right now. Also, i don’t want to jinx anything but it looks like O might be coming for you on a reasonable day!

@the_most_happy no real plans I have just been working Saturdays for the past 3 months and I’m ready for the streak to end! And to your point we want to use this time to get some stuff done around the house and it’s been hard when I still have to work so much. Good luck with the painting project! The last time we painted, we painted a strip of each kind and let it dry overnight and our decision was easy when we saw how they looked when dry.

@kpearse99 it looks so amazing!! I love the curtains!

@as@asf0613 I usually do twice a day OPKs just to make sure I see the darkest one. Well for the first couple of days I just do 1 but around CD 13-14 I switch to twice.

@inthewoods23 I’m glad your meeting was fun! That’s funny about YH and the speaker. Maybe they can connect IRL when this is all over

@gingermama29 That's so cool that you play ukulele! It's such a fun instrument. How much do they cost? I used to play cello and those can get very expensive. Hope you can find one you can get!

@the_most_happy We are constantly doing reno projects it seems. We bought our house 11 1/2 years ago and have done the entire inside down to studs during that time. We just have one room left that we decided to redo...again. Now that the snow is gone, we've been working on the outside. We're going to extend our driveway a little and put in a sitting area where an ugly rock garden was. Good luck with your color choices! Paint some swatches in different areas in the room and look at them during different parts of the day to get a true idea of what the colors will look like. I didn't do that with my bathroom and now I regret the color choice!

@kpearse99 Your living room looks amazing!! Good job on all of that!

@asf0613 Yay for getting laundry done. Hope your allergies have calmed down. Do you know how long your surge usually lasts or is this your first month doing OPKs? My surge lasts a couple days so I can test once a day and catch it. I would test 2x a day if you're worried about possibly missing it.

R/R: Despite yesterday being CD1, it ended up being a pretty good day. I spent the morning in bed with a heating pad and then I spent the afternoon sitting outside crocheting while H did some yard work. He took tonight off of work, so we're planning on doing the same exact thing today. Cramps and back pain are still pretty bad today, so I'm headed back to bed with a heating pad until H wakes up.

@linzrunz i have no idea! this is my 2nd cycle using them correctly i think (the first month i didnt really do it for long enough) and last month it just had one big peak and dropped right back down, though i only test it once a day so who knows if it was 12hrs or up to 36hrs based on my timing. ill take your advice and test again shortly since im on CD13 and aim to do 2x/day for the next few days. thanks!!!

Month/Cycle: NTNP

CD: 16

WAYDTGKU: using less protection, tracking CM, CP, & BBT

R/R: DH and I went on a really nice walk in a different field near us. We sat on top of this little hill and talked about what we want to do as far as our TTC journey.

We had a really solid plan to start trying at the end of this year after getting lots of things off of our “to-do” list before TTC but COVID really through all of that off. Lots of the things on our list can most likely still be done this year except for one thing which is Glastonbury Festival (basically Coachella of the UK). We managed to get tickets this year and now that it’s been cancelled, our tickets automatically get rolled over to next year which is nice but it’s not until end of June 2021. That’s a long time to wait to start full-on TTC. After a long talk, we both decided it’s what’s best for our lives right now to wait until after that. We’ll still NTNP until then though. I’m just unsure about how I feel continuing to participate on this board. I really enjoy talking with you ladies but I feel like a bit of a fraud. Can you ladies let me know what you think of me staying? Don’t be afraid to hold back if you think it’s inappropriate if I stay.

CS/Q: I changed yesterday’s temp using the BBT temp adjuster because I knew it was a false rise anyway

@kpearse99 your living room is so cute! Are you just getting new carpet for the floors or changing to a different material?

@inthewoods23 we got a gallon of each because 1) the person at the store said they are all such similar/subtle whites (like pure white with very small doses of other colors) that their mixing machine couldn't really do sample sizes with good accuracy, and 2) we got them right at the beginning of this whole pandemic thing and didn't want to have to go back to the store for more... kind of annoying, but I'm sure I know someone else doing home renovation projects during this time that would be happy for me to drop off the rejects on their porch!

@linzrunz ooh what are you crocheting? And ukulele price depends. You can get a cheap-y one for $20-$30 or some can be over $1000. Depends on the size, quality, and materials. I'm looking at about $120-$150 range. I'm in love with the cello! I played it for a half semester in college as one of my secondary instruments. I dream of having one someday but like you said, they are crazy expensive!

@jackie_dunny I am a music teacher! I teach elementary aged kids and absolutely love it. There are some great tutorials and play along videos online if you ever get back into playing! To answer your question, I think there are quite a few of us NTNP right now. I've been in that status since the end of November because of financial issues that came up when my basement wall started bowing (and eventually collapsed in February). I was encouraged to stay when my status changed to NTNP so I personally have no issue with you staying here and posting and encourage you to stay. I'm probably still NTNP for another month or so.

alright i got rid of about 20 appliance boxes and combines some smaller things into boxes/drawers and labelled. the organizing racks were in there before we moved in and i dont love them but i would need to install something in its place if i took out. so it will do for now!! i know its not perfect but at least now its all contained in the closet and we can attach a door!

@jackie_dunny That view is STUNNING!!! What a perfect place to go and talk about your hopes and dreams and goals! Personally, and maybe this is because we've been trying for 19 months, I wouldn't continue to set a date to when we would officially start TTC. After a while of trying you learn that you need to stop planning your life 9 months out and just find the nice balance of living and trying... if that makes sense? It's really up to you weather you feel like you want to still join in here or not - I will say this though, that if you're on the board you'll be thinking about TTC way more than not thinking about it and that then sort of means that you are actively trying... again not sure if I'm making any sense at all! I just know that even now, on my second cycle of NTNP and although I am overall way more relaxed and so less stressed, trying is still always in the back of my mind. I'm not really sure there is such a thing as 100% NTNP!

@j@jackie_dunny I hope you do stay! The more the merrier! I would just think about what you mean by NTNP and how it might come across. If you’re approaching it like “I don’t want to totally avoid because I might regret it if we have trouble later and I would be thrilled if I did get pregnant right now even if it’s not ideal timing” then I think you’ll be fine but if it’s more like “I don’t really know if I want to be pregnant so I’m just going to leave it up to chance” then you might inadvertently hurt some feelings during your stay here. Just something to think about.

@kpearse99 that definitely makes sense. I think I’m always thinking about TTC whether on this board or not 😂 I keep telling DH that we have to keep IF in mind that it’s a very real
possibility that couples go through so we can have a perfect plan in mind but life doesn’t really work like that and it’s something we have to keep in mind.

If anyone has an issue with me NTNP please please PLEASE let me know! This board is full of so many wonderful women and I really don’t want to offend anyone with my actions.

@jackie_dunny I’m super late to this convo, but I saw you reference it in yesterday’s checkin so I came to see what you were talking about.

I don’t mind if you stay. Like Bows said, The more, the merrier. However, I do have strong opinions about your reasons why you’d wait. Of course, I don’t know all the things you & YH need to check off the to-do list before you feel comfortable becoming parents, so take my opinion with that grain of salt.😉 My opinion is just an opinion, and I hope it doesn’t sound harsh. But this is what I’d think about if I were you: Is putting off a baby really worth the tradeoff of going to a festival that actually may or may not happen next year? You could actively try to conceive now, get lucky, and go to the festival later when the kid is 2 or 3. The tickets you have now can be sold to someone else next year. And if for some reason you do continue to put off TTC, and then have trouble later, you will be kicking yourself so hard. My opinion is jaded because I planned for 2 years when we’d try again, then I put that off for another year for a job promotion, and then we ran into nothing but hard times for the last 2 years trying to get our take-home baby. You can see I feel like I’ve wasted so much time. Just another way to look at it.

@keikilove yes I’ve definitely thought about it that way. I’ve brought it up to DH time and time again. But I can’t really force him to TTC if he doesn’t feel ready yet. If it were only my choice, we’d be trying right now but I have to take his feelings and opinions into account. And he’s definitely taken mine into account as well. That’s why we’re NTNP, it’s our “compromise” though definitely more on his side lol but like I said, I can’t force him to be ready if he’s not yet. I would rather wait than force him into fatherhood when he’s not 100% there yet, ya know?

ETA: there are other things besides the festival btw 😂 but yeah, definitely see what you’re saying and I don’t think your opinion is too harsh. Completely valid and relevant ❤️
