Re: Week 1 (11/01-11/07) Check-in w/o 04/06/20

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: November 1st/10w1d

Baby is the size of a(n): Paper Clips according to TB and Lego Man according to Ovia lol

Upcoming Appointments: I have my standard physical on Monday, 4.13 and NIPT/NT on 4.23

How are you feeling?: I have been feeling pretty good.  Nausea now just comes and goes, but my round ligament pain is REAL.  I assume it is because my body already remembers how to do this and is stretching early.  But I did my boxing workout yesterday and then played outside with DD for about (4) hours and by bedtime I could hardly walk.  Thank God for essential oil rollers to help with muscles otherwise today would've been bad lol.

Rants/Raves: Rant: see above lol.  Rave: baking sugar cookies today with DH and DD aka the perks of WFH lol

Questions: Anyone else experiencing round ligament pain already? Any tried and true remedies to alleviate the pain?

GTKY: What is your favorite time of the year? Oh this is easy lol, I am OBSESSED with the Fall! Halloween is my favorite holiday and I love everything about the season, sweater but not cold enough for a jacket, apple cider, pumpkins, mums, skeletons and candy.  We went all out for decorating last year and I loved it.  I am not going to lie if this baby is born on Halloween I will be pumped lol.  Although I would be sad that DD wouldn't get an awesome Halloween :(.  And back story to my obsession, my dad passed away when I was 2.5 year old, so Thanksgiving and Christmas were very difficult for my Mom, so she threw a ton of energy into Halloween.  From a very young age it was just sort of ingrained in me I guess. :)

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: November 3 / 9w6d

Baby is the size of a(n): cherry / face of a watch

Upcoming Appointments: April 22nd for first trimester ultrasound and NT scan + blood draw for prenatal screening

How are you feeling?: pretty good, boobs are still a little bit sore. Getting excited and nervous for our next US

Rants/Raves: I don't think my fiancé will be allowed in the clinic at the next US... I understand but I wish he could be there.

    Questions: None

GTKY: What is your favorite time of the year? Definitely summertime. Where we live the weather isn't really nice from September/October to April/May. I like the heat. As I like to put it, I like it when you get out of your house and the sun hurts a little. 😅
  • @mimser I couldn't have my husband at my last ultrasound, but they did let me facetime him so that was better than nothing. Maybe see if they will allow that?
  • @bserena yes I think that's what I'll ask when they call to confirm. I would at least want to have a way to have him hear the heartbeat. I think that made it all more real for me.

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: Nov.1 / 10w1D

Baby is the size of a(n): TB says strawberry. Definitely not your typical store bought ones though.

Upcoming Appointments: Phone intake on Friday, 12 week on the 24th.

How are you feeling?: My nausea has been a lot better the last two days. Hoping it's a trend and not just coincidence.

Rants/Raves: I started watching Call the Midwife and it's fantastic.

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your favorite time of the year? Late spring. Early spring is muddy and gross. In Iowa we get approximately 1 week of perfect, warm spring weather before it's unbearably hot for 3 months.

@jaclyn0405 I'm also hoping for a Halloween baby! Your readon is much more  sentimental and beautiful than mine. I just think it would be cool.

GTKY: What is your favorite time of the year? Summer for warm weather, pool days and beach vacation

@jaclyn0405 and @glenncoco20 I'm hoping for a not Halloween baby so fx it works out haha

    9+4, EDD 11/5
Baby is the size of a(n):
a little butterfly thing per Ovia lol
    Upcoming Appointments:
I have my first tri screening on 4/24. They've already switched it around a few times so crossing my fingers it doesn't chance again.
    How are you feeling?:
Better physically but I have zero patience with my 2.5 yr old currently. The nausea has stopped for the most part and my fatigue isn't terrible. I don't feel like I need to nap as much.
    Rants/Raves:
I really wish I could see some of our family. I want to be able to tell them in person so crossing my fingers we can wait a few more weeks and COVID GTFO.
    Questions:

GTKY: What is your favorite time of the year?
There is nothing like the Fall in New England <3
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @glenncoco20 yes I think so too! I have a couple friends born on Halloween and they love it! BTW I also love your username LOL.

@ksdelong20 LOL too funny! Fingers crossed it all works out! I am measuring 10/31, but my daughter came at 39w4d so I don't think I will get my wish, but there's hope ha!
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: Nov 1, 10w3d

Baby is the size of a(n): chocolate truffle and strawberry, which combined sounds delicious lol

Upcoming Appointments: today for prenatal testing!! I'm considered advanced maternal age so we're really going for it.

How are you feeling?: Up and down. Thought I was in the clear with nausea and it keeps holding on. Still napping lots and way more irritable with my husband. Also, can't. stop. eating.

Rants/Raves: Rant: It's hard to feel like I'm going through this alone because of quarantine so I'm super grateful for this community. Rave: Working from home is such a blessing, especially on days I feel like hot garbage.

Questions: Tips for making a phone disclosures to family feel special? Still haven't told my in-laws....

GTKY: What is your favorite time of the year? I'm from Chicago, so it's fall all the way. I love everything about it. And Christmas time - everything is magical!
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 11/5 9w+5

Baby is the size of a(n): Cherry or plastic water bottle cap

Upcoming Appointments: 11/17 for NIPT + NT us

How are you feeling?: Physically, I'm a mess. I'm a totally exhausted zombie all day long and have all day nausea (with no vomiting). Having some oddly specific food cravings which I can't do much about since we are in NYC and in quarantine. Emotionally, I'm up-and-down. I'm excited to see baby next Friday, but this is a hard week for me as *TW* I've never made it past now in my previous pregnancies *TW*

Rants/Raves: Just so thankful for MH for being unbelievably supportive and caring to me. We installed a bidet on our toilet today to conserve our TP use (and also it's better for hygiene). I busted out my snoogle last week and it was a GAME CHANGER.

Questions: Anybody else developing a tiny bump, yet? I noticed it last week and thought it was bloating, but it seems firm (but small and only noticeable to me). Could be all the peanut M&M's though.

GTKY: What is your favorite time of the year? I live for autumn.
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 11/4, 10w0d

Baby is the size of a(n): kumquat (I LOOOOOVE kumquats)

Upcoming Appointments: next Wed and Fri for NIPT and midwife check up.

How are you feeling?: Better! Tired the last few days, but nausea is mostly gone, constipation seems to be less, bloating is less.

Rants/Raves: I've been worrying about whether or not I should go back to work in the fall (teacher), assuming we are even back in the classroom. I'm nervous about being around all the students while pregnant, then having to go back to work in Feb or March with a newborn at home and during a potentially very bad Covid season. The uncertainty around everything is really hard.

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your favorite time of the year? Spring time (right now!) - it's getting warmer, but not too hot, and the grass is green and everything is growing and flowering and beautiful. I love feeling life coming back into the world!

(will induce on 10/23 most likely)

Baby is the size of a(n): berry of some kind... I forgot to look

Upcoming Appointments: 5/12 for next OB routine appt

How are you feeling?: better! Nausea has subsided a lot which is a God send. Still tired but chugging along and pushing through. Bed time happens at 7:30 though

Rants/Raves: rave: I absolutely adore my OB. He was my dr for DS (18 months old) and we have the best dr/pt relationship ever. He is so knowledgeable and listens to me and appreciates my medical background therefore really lets me help call the shots. DH and I both think he is just the bees knees. And his wife is an OB also and she is actually the one who induced me with DS. What lovely humans, I feel so fortunate!

Questions: how much weight are we all gaining right now? Yep - I asked it. I’m teetering between 2/3 pounds so far (ok more like 3 - whatever). I typically gain a LOT (like 65#) with each pregnancy and I’d love not to do that this time.

GTKY: What is your favorite time of the year? Spring. 100%

  • @magdaaaa Yay for nausea subsiding! Can I ask why you know already that you'll need to induce early? Just curious! As for weight gain - yep, I've already gained 2-3 lbs. I gained 35ish lbs last pregnancy, but not this early I don't think, and also I have started out overweight with both pregnancies. It's been hard because a) 1st tri symptoms had me eating all.damn.day in an effort to make my stomach feel better, and b) I'm home all day baking with DS and eating 15 snacks a day. Sigh. I'm trying not to worry about it and remember that every pregnancy is different.
And I'm right there with you #teamspring 🌱

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: Nov. 4 / 10w1d

Baby is the size of a(n): paperclip

    Upcoming Appointments: 4/30

How are you feeling?: I think my nausea is starting to get better, but still being wary because ravings and aversions are in full swing. I'm either eating too much of what I want or grossed out by something else.

Rants/Raves: We told our parents last week and it's been nice to have the support, but I wish we could see each other. The uncertainty of this pandemic changes things.

GTKY: What is your favorite time of the year? Summer. I love cookouts, fireworks, and the beach.
  • @magdaaaa I had gained 1 lbs at 8 weeks. Now 2 week later, I can't tell because we don't have a balance at home but I feel a bit thicker... I don't know if I should order a balance online because due to COVID-19, it looks like my next in-office appointment with my GP will be in another 6 weeks. Or will I know if it's getting out of control?
  • @magdaaaa I think I've gained about the same amount, 2-3 lbs. This is my first, so I have no idea what to expect going forward.

@hedgepig I am a teacher too. With my most recent bloodwork, I found out that I'm NOT immune to chicken pox! I'm not sure how I've made it this far without getting it. I will get the vaccine afterwards, but I'm thinking I'll have to go be extra careful when we return to school. Is there a reason why you are worried about next spring for COVID? I haven't heard anything about that yet. Right now I guess I'm taking it one day at a time.
  • @36anditsmyfirst We shared the news by video chat-- Zoom and FB Messenger video call. We mailed them board books with "grandparent" stories and told them they weren't allowed to open the packages until they called us.

@laurenmicheley how exciting! I had a bit of a belly before getting pregnant, so I'm assuming I won't notice anything early. My boobs have definitely gotten bigger though, but I don't know if anyone else would notice that.
  • @mimser I don't have a scale at home either, and I don't necessarily think you should go out of your way to get one either. It sounds like you already eat healthy and do lots of exercise - focus on taking care of yourself and try not to worry about what the scale says. Your doc will let you know if they're concerned. I believe there's a discussion of this in Expecting Better - that current science says it's better to gain a bit more weight than to be underweight. Also, every pregnancy and woman is different - some gain lots early on, but hardly any at the end, or vice versa or any variation, so you might stress yourself out over a few extra pounds at the beginning for no reason because it all balances at the end.

  • @hedgepig thanks for the reassuring words :)
  • @hedgepig I make GIANT babies, and I am a small framed gal. I always end up with gestational diabetes and with both DD and DS I had BP issues in 3rd tri that led me to borderline pre-e. So my OB just knows that if my body does what it has done in the past (exact same both pregnancies) then we are fully expected a 38 week induction. DD was almost 10lbs when induced at 39 weeks, and DS was almost 9 pounds when induced at 38 weeks.

@mimser my scale is my best friend and worst enemy. Alas, I continue to hop on at least twice a day. I am so grateful that I have been able to lose all baby weight with my 2 precious pregnancies, so I’m hoping this will go the same. Hah!

@warmwinter yay for your nausea improving! And I think 2-3 pounds is perfectly normal. I’m just worried bc I can’t control food cravings anymore. Lawwwwd help me!

  • @magdaaaa Honestly I refuse to look. I know I gained 25 lb last pregnancy but didnt find out until like the day I delivered. It messes with my head to much. It shouldn't, but I blame years of being on WW even though I shouldn't have been. I'm just staying active and trying to make decent food choices. Though this week has not been anything to brag about hahaha

  • I think I have gained probably 5 pounds already... but I am usually super active and now I never leave the house. Plus pregnancy cravings have been ridiculous!
  • ksd20ksd20 member
@hedgepig mostly traditional names or Biblical if not too unusual.  common is fine but DH is not really into trendy names. DH is Matthew, DS is James. I have a large family (4 brothers, 20 some cousins and then 20 some "second cousins") and we're all pretty close so a lot of names are out because of that.
  • @warmwinter It's definitely a belly (but also am getting thick from laying around the house for the last month).

We just ordered a Peloton and I COULDN'T be more excited to get back on a bike. Typically, I'm at SoulCycle 4x/week, but I haven't worked out for over a month now since I went on vacation right before COVID-19 hit NYC. I've definitely been overindulging, but also I'm not going to hold myself back if I actually have the appetite for something (instead of general nausea and distaste) so I'm happy to begin exercising again - especially, since we will get it in a few weeks (which means after the 1st Trimester malaise is over).
  • @laurenmicheley I want a Peloton SO bad! I think my gift to myself for paying off my car this summer will be a little gym for myself in the basement with a Peloton.  I am sure you will love it as much as everyone else I know that has one!
  • @jaclyn0405 I have never been so excited to work out in my life! Now, figuring out where we will put it in our NYC (SMALL) apartment is the mystery!
  • @laurenmicheley it is surprisingly compact, so I was thinking if I didn't get the basement together I could always put it in our bedroom.  Time will tell lol!
  • @jaclyn0405 Yes, the low-profile size of it is definitely why we chose to buy it. I think it's a big reason why Peloton is so successful in markets like NYC and SF where the living spaces are small. I would have put it in the bedroom, but we had to pull out of purchasing the apartment next door (we were going to extend our 1-bedroom and make a 3-bedroom) which means we need the space for Baby once they arrive.
  • @ksdelong20 We like similar names, and I don't know about a site in particular, but I've had good luck with a search for "classic boys names".
We like Paul, Henry, Eugene, Martin, Peter, Bernard, Frank, Ernest, Lucius, Atticus, Cary, Ezra, Thomas... uh, I'll try to think of more!
