Microcephaly

Hi all- wondering if anyone's baby has been diagnosed with microcephaly in utero? We learned at our 20 week scan that everything was great with baby, but my partner had placenta previa. We had a follow up scan at 26 weeks to check on the previa, which was still there, and learned that baby's head measurements decreased to the 5th percentile. We were then sent to maternal fetal medicine to have a scan at 28 weeks, which happened yesterday. Baby's head is now measuring in the 1st percentile (3 standard deviations below the mean), which is considered to be microcephaly, but all other anatomy looks normal. I'm wondering if anyone else has ever been in this situation. We are having a difficult time wondering about what is going on. The doctor said the baby could have a syndrome, but he doesn't think it is likely because all of the baby's anatomy and features look fine. My partner is going to have some blood tests done to look for any genetic abnormalities but does not want to have a amnio at this point. Just looking for some guidance and/or support. Thank you.

    @jill620 I was wondering how this turned out for you. This sounds exactly wear I am right now at 25 weeks. I am being sent to maternal fetal medicine, but don't have a date yet as I was just informed yesterday of an issue with head measurements.

    Just in case someone comes to this thread...I had scans at 20 weeks where head was measuring 9th percentile. My recheck at 24 weeks showed 5th percentile. Went to maternal fetal medicine at 25 weeks and they were not overly concerned. They told me baby was on the small side but measurements were in normal ranges and they would continue to monitor to make sure there were issues with IUGR. They did another scan at 30 weeks and came to the same conclusion. Baby's overall growth is within normal ranges, 33rd percentile, head circumference still in 5th percentile. They will do another scan at 36 weeks.

    Not quite the same, but my babies femurs were in the 5-10% when the rest of her was 50-90. It really worried me, and turned out to be nothing- in fact, she’s tall for her age now.
