  • I feel like I’m going stir crazy! However, I’m pretty excited I got stuff to learn to crochet yesterday just in time for all non-essential retail stores to close today here 🤓

  • @b_1029 yay! Good luck with your first piece!!
  • @b_1029 I can never remember the difference between knitting and crocheting. But whichever one is easier- that's what I'm down to learn 🤷‍♀️

Speaking of easy- we are not doing any 'homeschooling' while the kids are out of school. My 7 year old, however, did learn to make easy mac and peel and slice potatoes.  He is a really good reader, so all I had to help him with was show him how to measure water with the measuring cup and get the hot bowl for him from the microwave. Since he's my youngest- life will be so completely different with a needy newborn in a few months. I'm nervous 😬. Oh, here is my 7 YO with his easy mac. He was super proud.

  • @modoodles crocheting just has the one hook so it's really easy

Awww... look how happy he is! Way to go, buddy!
  • @modoodles yay for teaching your son life skills!!! In my book that counts as schooling!!!

@b_1029 yay for learning something new!!! Good luck!!!
  • @modoodles as a teacher I’m applauding you! These are stressful times, and the best thing you can do for your child right now are things like this. I see so many parents stressing about homeschooling their children, parents trying to be teachers, parents trying to recreate a school schedule at home. Don’t. Keep it simple! teach your kids something other than reading, writing, and arithmetic apps and worksheets.  Cooking is science...and yummy. Sharing personal stories from your childhood and life is history... not to mention it engages “story structure”... part of reading fundamentals. Your children will not fall behind, and they will not remember the worksheets, apps, and reading logs you pushed them to complete. But they will remember the experiences you shared and how you conducted yourself during these stressful times.
  • I agree with the other ladies @modoodles. You’re teaching him important stuff that so many kids these days don’t ever learn!

My goal is to do as much of my degree as possible. It’s 100% online so I have full access still but I keep getting distracted by other stuff.
