Trying to Get Pregnant

Re: Weekly Randoms 3/16-3/22

  • Guys, the latest Peggy...I can't.

  • @emeraldduchess if you look, she's posted that question in multiple boards. The Multiples board and I think the Babies on the Brain board. LMAO

Just don't even bother answering because you know they will never come back.

There's another newbie (they posted in the pinned guide thread here) who has resurrected so many old threads or has added 1 sentence input to things and I am so amused because it's like they're just wandering around making comments on things they aren't apart of.

Sorry if this is huge, I have to use my desktop because the mobile site doesn't work on my phone (and it won't let me put anything in a spoiler).

  • @inthewoods23 as far as sex education goes, yes. It's pretty awful how little schools are allowed to teach about human reproduction/birth control. I went to a Catholic high school and it was strictly "abstinence only/birth control is not an option/pregnancy is lurking around EVERY corner, that sperm WILL GET YOU!"
  • @emeraldduchess as I recall, we were taught the different contraceptive methods but of course there was always the message "abstinence is the only 100% effective method".

I wrote a FB post last night about cancelling all my doctors appointments since now is a bad time to conceive. My aunt this morning piped up with this gem "They say when you stop trying is when your most successful." She also told me to relax and enjoy my pets and to read a book or take up a hobby. 😐😑

Should I respond with "that's actually a hurtful and unhelpful piece of advice for anyone dealing with infertility especially for years" or something else?

  • @inthewoods23 ugh. Gotta love when people chime in with less than helpful advice. If you did respond by telling her that's unhelpful and hurtful, do you think that would cause a fight? You could always tell her that via messenger so that it doesn't become a huge fight in the comment section. I'm sorry you had to see that "advice". People who haven't been through this can be so blind sometimes. They have no clue how much this takes over our lives.
  • @emeraldduchess I was thinking about it when I showered. I should be matter of fact with my comment.

I was thinking "that's actually really unhelpful advice for anyone trying for a baby, infertility issues or not. It's not that simple. Does that happen to couples? Yes, but that's not how that works for the rest of us."

  • @inthewoods23 my aunt told me the same thing when I told her I was having issues getting KU and that's why I was avoiding family parties, because I would get asked and then I would cry and that would not be helpful for anyone. People just don't know any better, even when they should.
