We had a small wedding (it was my 2nd and he doesn't like being the center of attention) with just our family and close friends. We did a small ceremony and then had a luncheon after at our favorite restaurant. It was beautiful and perfect and while we had music playing in the background we did not have a "first dance" or anything like that. BUT our official "unofficial" song is You Are the Best Thing by Ray LaMontage

DH and I were a little unconventional with our music choices.

-Walked down the aisle to Jack's Dream from the Oblivion movie (plays at the very beginning of the movie)
-Walked out of the ceremony to Dream by The Word Alive
-At the reception the wedding party came out to Mr. Roboto by Styx as a nod to our meeting in the robotics program in high school - my sister did a horrible job doing the robot, but it was great at the same time, she was committed!
-We came out to Before I Forget by Slipknot as a nod to our love of rock and metal music
-Cake cutting to Happy Together by The Turtles, and sadly we took nearly the entire song to cut our piece out. I blame it on the cake cutting utensils that I've never used in my life before

-First dance was My Heart I Surrender by I Prevail

And we requested Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol to play as the final slow dance

Our first dance was to jake owens “anywhere with you” - our first vacation together involved a lot of time in the car and the song was popular at the time. It’s been our anthem ever since!

We/the wedding party was introduced with “I’m gonna be (500 miles)” and I feel like that was the most under appreciated part of our wedding haha. I thought it was so great but no one commented!

@bows22 I can't remember what we walked out to for my sister's wedding, but I appreciate any fun song to come out to!

Which reminds me that my aunt's wedding party got introduced to the Chicago Blackhawk's goal song (or Chelsea Dagger by the Fratellis) and I had way too much fun as a guest just grooving to that song

@inthewoods23 I feel uncool that I don’t know any of those songs. Haha.
@kpearse99 I’m gonna have to look that one up because it sounds so familiar but I can’t quite bring the song to mind.

Our wedding was very very small. I think we had like 30 people if that. And we had it in my mom and dads house (they have a pretty large house).
So we were super cheesey and walked down the aisle to “Lets Get Married” by Jagged Edge - it was MH choice because he wasn’t thrilled with basically all my other music choices (like for dancing throughout the night). Then we left to my choice “You’re All I Need to Get By” by Marvin Gaye & Tami Terrell. And then our first dance was one we agreed upon - “Love and Happiness” by Al Green. ❤️

I love this!!

MH has been a musician for many years - almost all of his groomsmen are former bandmates/friends. So he had Opinions about our music selection. I did get some say, but overall our choices were really reflective of us both as a couple.

The bridal party entered our reception to New Kids on the Block The Right Stuff (my gfs and I are huge NKOTB fans), then we entered to White Wedding by Billy Idol, and our DJ got everyone on to the dance floor to start the party right then and there. People loved it.

Our first dance was to Forever by the Beach Boys (I had him fade out on the last line that I don't like).

Our first dance was "Faithfully" by Journey. We actually also had our wedding rings engraved with the lyrics from it too. DH's says "forever yours" on the inside and mine says "faithfully" inside.

We had a large very traditional catholic wedding and to be honest I don't even remember the songs at the church. At our reception the wedding party walked in to "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)" by Natalie Cole and our first dance was "Yours" by Russell Dickerson

@kpearse99 We had The Piano Guys version of that song for the grandparents, parents and wedding party walking down our aisle! I felt that using the original song with her singing would feel too much like a twilight wedding and while I've watched those movies, I wasn't a fanatic so the instrumental version felt more right.

@heather_feather 😍 Everlasting Love - another of my all time favorites! It definitely played at our reception too.

@kiki047 we have the same father daughter dance song! That is one of my dads all time faves (that particular medley) and we used to play it on long road trips. As kids we called it “the happy song”. ❤️

@krystrist2014 I love it! It was too long so we ended up shortening it so it was just the last verse of Somewhere Over the Rainbow and then all of What a Wonderful World. My Dad sobbed through the whole thing

Our father/daughter dance was Butterfly Kisses by.... idk lol. I don't even really know why that's "our song".

The mother/groom dance was almost I Hope You Dance. DH and I were both kinda like, can you pick something a little more modern? Thankfully she changed her mind to Humble and Kind, I think, after hearing it on the radio on her way to/from work one day.

We did our first dance to All of Me by John Legend. I walked down to the aisle to an instrumental version we had made of Taylor Swift's Wildest Dreams because that was "our song" when we were dating but we didn't like the lyrics for the first dance lol.

@inthewoods23 We didn't do mother/son or father/daughter dances at our wedding but at my first wedding we did and I also danced to Butterfly Kisses with my daddy

@inthewoods23 hahaha! I hope you dance always depresses me because it was played at a wake that we hosted at a restaurant I helped manage. 😢

@kiki047 it is super long! For us it was like the first half was me and my dad and then we had DH and MIL join and then other family join. Since my wedding was so small and intimate, all of our music was on various playlists I created so we weren’t able to cut anything. It was literally playlists I was making on Amazon Unlimited Music like hours before the wedding. 🤣 I was not the kind of bride that planned everything a year beforehand.

Our professional was to Pictures at an Exhibition by the piano guys and I timed my entrance to the beautiful big swell in it.

We exited to Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder

We entered the reception to This Will Be by Natalie Cole

We danced to so close by Jon McLaughlin it had some personal significance to us.

My dad and I danced to The way you look tonight.

I walked down the aisle to a string version of Cannon in D...I have always loved that song, so there was no question that I was using it!

We walked out to Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder - @allthingscozy great choice!! 😉

Our first dance was to At Last by Etta James!

@kpearse99 @inthewoods23 I LOVE Piano Guys!! We used a lot of their songs for the before the ceremony music!! We also used the Piano Guys version of A Thousand Years for everyone else walking down the aisle (parents, bridesmaids, flower girl, & ring bearer).

@krystrist2014 lmao we had the same thoughts with our rock and metal music tastes. I was pretty sure my grandparents wouldn't like it. So we settled for the 30-ish seconds of some Slipknot to walk out to at the reception, which was for the most part instrumental so issues of inappropriate lyrics being heard!

I had a small wedding too as it was both me and DH’s second marriage. I walked down the aisle to a cello and piano instrumental version of the lady gaga song called “Shallow” from the Star is Born movie. Our first dance song was called “this is why I love you” by Major. There both such beautiful songs ❤️

Our wedding was Phantom of the Opera themed, so that was the music walking down the aisle at the church and for the cake cutting (All I ask of You rather than the dramatic typical Phantom of the Opera music).

I let my DH pick our song, since he rejected all the ones I picked. He picked Smile by Uncle Kracker.

My dad and I danced to It Won't Be Like This for Long by Darius Rucker. That song perfectly portrays me as a child! My mom said he used to talk around the block singing it so he won't cry when we danced. We spent most of our dance talking about a friend of mine at the wedding. My dad and his mom work together, so he wanted me to point him out.

@bluetickgal @inthewoods23 @kpearse99 we also walked down the isle to a thousand years, the instrumental by the piano guys! We didn’t get to do much dancing during the reception because we got rained out. But that song is so popular and beautiful. I’ve heard it played at several weddings that I have worked!

Ours was “gonna walk this road” by Eric Bibbs.

Really great message and it’s how we try to live our lives.

“Our song” is “love comes and goes” by Xavier Rudd. It’s about the pain of losing your soulmate, and how love can last for decades, and it still hurts to let them go. We love it as a reminder to treasure each other NOW while we can because someday, one of us might out live the other and we will miss the time we fought about him not putting away the dishes. It’s a really solid reminder that it would hurt to lose “this” way more than I’m upset over something stupid.
