Re: All Trimester Check In March 2nd

  • Thanks for starting the thread this week, @wildrainbow!
    • How far along/EDD? 39 weeks 3/9
    • How are you feeling this week? The discomfort has definitely increased as have the BH. But overall still feeling pretty good. I think I’m ready for this little guy to make an appearance. As much as I have enjoyed being pregnant for the most part (minus the first and part of the second trimester 🤢), I’m ready for the next challenge of being a new mom. As ready as I’ll ever be 😯😬
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? Rant - amazing how once you get this far people start “predicting” how your labour is going to go. My MIL has particularly started to get on my nerves a bit with sending me random texts saying how, if this baby is anything like her son/my DH, this is how my labour is going to go. 🙄 I don’t know why, but comments like this are starting to drive me nuts. I guess it’s a “good” way of preparing me for all the advice I’m sure I’ll be getting once this baby arrives.
    • Any upcoming appointments? Just my OB appointment on Wednesday.
    • GTKY: Are you doing anything to stay fit? Man, I had really hoped I would have been more fit this pregnancy. I started off pretty good with taking long walks and doing some cardio/strength exercises, but that totally went down the drain months ago. I was thinking of going on my stationary bike today just for a “casual ride.” Fingers crossed it gets things a-moving here!
    • How far along/EDD? 24+1, 6/21
    • How are you feeling this week? Pretty good. exhaustion seems to just be my normal right now, and the headaches suck but mag has been helping a lot.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? I'm so relieved after my appts last week. My bp was normal at the OB, I saw a different one in the practice this time and she said that there are no red flags right now for pre-e. No more swelling, normal bp, and the headaches are manageable on magnesium. It was probably all a bunch of random pregnancy symptoms. Fetal echo with the MFM also went great. Also officially hit viability, so that is a huge relief.
    • Any upcoming appointments? OB in 2 weeks, glucose test again and rhogam shot coming up.
    • GTKY: Are you doing anything to stay fit? I was afraid to exercise at all this pregnancy between prior losses and spotting/bleeding the entire first tri, But after getting into second tri I have started working out again in little bits. I have an elliptical machine in my house and I use that. I used to do 30 min-1hr A day on it when I was really working out. But this pregnancy I do about 15/20 min 2/3 days a week.

@sincethelastday you are so close! And ugh those comments are so annoying. Idk why people think of saying that sort of thing.

  • @cigaline Congrats on welcoming baby Hugo!  I'm sorry to hear you had a bit of a rough start and that bf support where you are leaves much to be desired.  As a second time mom, I have to say that I really must have blocked it all out (actually the first four months with DD were a bit of a blur) or I wouldn't be here (in this forum) right now :p. It won't be like this forever and it will get better.  Hang in there!
    • How far along/EDD?  13w5d / 2 Sep - 3 months today! (Repeat c-section no later than 26 Aug)
    • How are you feeling this week?  Okay this morning since I got a glorious 9 hours of sleep last night.  I'm still taking doxylamine with B6 at night for nausea.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions?  We were all excited for DD's first day at the new daycare today...till we took her temperature and discovered that she has a fever this morning and couldn't go in :(. Hopefully it'll be gone by tomorrow morning and she can start there Wednesday.
    • Any upcoming appointments?  Not till 16 week appt on March 19
    • GTKY: Are you doing anything to stay fit?  Not a thing!  Although I'm fortunate  to have made it to 3 months without gaining weight despite that (we don't have to start gaining weight till 2nd tri, right?). I really need to get on at least modified mat Pilates exercises for my back though.  DD isn't getting any lighter and I won't be either for a while if things continue to go well.  I would like to get back to dance classes - I think last time I was too nauseated &!scared to go back till about 16 weeks (because of *TW* previous losses).

    • How are you feeling this week? Still sick. I have this dry cough that just won’t go away since last Friday. I think it’s my asthmatic cough triggered by allergy but I don’t know. There are several reported cases of coronavirus in my area which is making me super nervous.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? My now noticeable bump is making moving around more difficult. With my first, I made a big mistake of saving all the purging and cleaning until I went on maternity leave at 35 weeks. I better start cleaning now.
    • Any upcoming appointments? Anatomy scan in mid March. And OB appt too. I need to schedule a fetal echo.
    • GTKY: Are you doing anything to stay fit? I do 20-25 min walk 1-2x/day but that’s about it. Been meaning to join a prenatal yoga studio but with the coronavirus going around, wondering whether I should wait and see how bad it’s going to be.

How are you feeling this week? Something I ate or hormones made me sick yesterday and it mildly carried over to today (stayed home from work). I don't know if it was the bacon or egg or what. But ugh!

Rants/Raves? Questions? Rant - SO and i have been going through baby names now that we know it's a girl and this process is not fun! We cannot agree. Lol. We can't agree on the last name either. I want to hyphenate the names but we both have long names so he doesn't like that idea. He prefers if one of the names is a second middle name. We'll see.

Any upcoming appointments? 2nd OB appointment Mar 10th.

GTKY: Are you doing anything to stay fit? No. RE and OB both said no exercise due to a bleed they saw on the ultrasound. But hopefully that's better and I get the OK tomorrow. I've gained weight, my stomach is huge and I have no energy. This is a mixture of the pregnancy and staying on my butt all day. So I'm hoping she said gives the thumbs up. I want to try prenatal yoga and go back to doing barre classes.

  • @BusinessWife Did you have an issue with FMLA paperwork last time? @cashewchicken DH doesn't want me to go to a polling place because of coronavirus so I get to send my ballot with him. @31magnolia I hope you feel better soon. As I sat and ate my lunch today, I made the mistake of reading a Yelp review of that location of the place at which I was eating (a chain) in which the reviewer got food poisoning :(. Messed with my head a little. Again, DH and I didn't decide on DD's first name till 11 days before she was born (and her second name till the day before I went in for induction).

  • @sincethelastday – Wow, next week its almost here, very excited for you.  Ohhh the unsolicited advice/comments about YOUR pregnancy!  I got a lot during the time we shared the news and I know its more to come later!

@hanshotfirst77 – All great news! Congrats on the viability milestone.

    How far along/EDD? 18+5 / Jul 29th

How are you feeling this week? Awful!! I was traveling and I think I caught some kind of virus, mild but it will not leave my body!!! Started 10 days ago, just runny nose and cough and I was getting better during this weekend and for some reason, last night I started feeling just like the first day.  I had little to no sleep last night and woke up with sore tonsils and congested.  Not sure if I never fully recovered or caught a different type of virus, which I doubt, since I have not left the house these days (I work remotely).

Rants/Raves? Questions? Oh how I miss hardcore colds drugs -and wine- just taking tylenol, benadryl and robitussin.  I normally do not get sick, maybe once every 5 years since I started using bee wax propolis every time I fly or feel any initial cold symptoms…and of course, too little information about propolis during pregnancy so not recommended.  I am sure if would have used the spray I would have not been sick.  But, my belly is growing and I am focusing on that, enjoying this pregnant belly by the minute.

Any upcoming appointments? A/S next week at 20 weeks and first high risk Dr appointment.

GTKY: Are you doing anything to stay fit? Nada!!! Not a big gym/exercise fan actually, so pregnancy has been the perfect excuse to skip it.  During my last OB appointment I told my Dr I was planning on going back to the stepper/treadmill….his reaction was ‘and who told you to stop going?’ he said to go back the next day, just make sure I can exercise and talk at the same, and as soon as I feel out of breath to slow down....buut now I am sick with this cold, so not planning on hitting the gym until I am fully recovered.

  • @artemis618 I'm not actually eligible for STD until 36 weeks, so I'm taking an early FMLA leave ostensibly due to my MILs illness.  She can't drive right now, or watch the baby, so we lost out backup Saturday childcare, which created a huge source of stress in our household.  So the FMLA leave will allow me to get out and visit + help MIL any time throughout the week, but also effectively just let me stay home with DD while we get ready for our new arrival... But it all hinges on getting approval of the paperwork MILs physician submits. 😬
  • @BusinessWife Got it - sorry I missed that and for the extra stress. When do you expect to hear back?

  • @artemis618 so far what the one sent back is not going to help.  So she filled in what she feels she will need the help with, and then resubmitted it to two of her providers.  Fx within the next couple weeks we hear back!
    • How far along/EDD? 16+2/ Aug 16
    • How are you feeling this week? I had a pretty big scare yesterday. I had very bad menstrual cramping and some contractions. My doctor had me come in. I had cervical check to make sure I wasnt going into labor and got an u/s. I got to see my sweet babe, which really helped put my mind at ease. Today, I am sore. My stomach feels like I've done a thousand crunches. I'm still crampy, but it's nothing like it was.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? Rant: I got lab work done to check my liver enzymes. My ALT rose 2 points, which doesnt sound bad, but it's above the normal and was above normal when they check it around 10 weeks. So I have a call in to see what this mean and how often we are going to do lab work and if we will check my bile acids as well.
    • Any upcoming appointments? March 23rd for AS!! I am so excited for this!
    • GTKY: Are you doing anything to stay fit? I have no idea why I put this question here, lol. I haven't done anything to stay fit. I have been wanting to walk, but it's been raining and flooding here, so that's out. I've mostly been stretching to help with muscle pains.
  • @sincethelastday So excited how close you are! Hopefully your bike ride got some stuff moving!

@hanshotfirst77 That is such awesome news about your bp! I know that is so stressful. FX that continues to be the case.

@artemis618 I hope your DD is feeling better.

@BusinessWife Hugs. I'm sorry the BMB is hurting your heart. I know it kills me to to see some just cavalierly mention those things. The struggle is so hard.

@cashewchicken I am sorry you're still sick. It's so miserable being sick while pregnant. I hope you feel better soon.

@31magnolia I hope your feeling better! Picking names is so hard. It's my least favorite thing, lol.

@angelina1919 I am so sorry you're sick. I hope you get over it soon.
  • Thanks @wildrainbow ❤️ and I know the OP who brought it up has a pretty specific medical concern, and you too have (if I get to decide these things) what I would consider extreme medical circumstances that may make such a drastic, permanent decision the right thing to do.  And I don't know, but I can imagine what a hard and isolating place to be in that must feel like.  But it's the mee too bangwagon of oh we are just so done lol, or if this one's the sex we want I'll get my tubes tied. What???? I can't.  I mean am I just so naïve that I didn't know two+through+snip those tubes is just what people do these days????  IDGI but I'm willing to admit that my if experience may give me a bit of a bias. :/
  • @BusinessWife I get it! I dont really get all that either. I know when we started this process of trying to have a kid, I was so naive. Now, that I've almost died twice, lost more babies than I have, and endured more surgeries than any normal person has to endure, it still hurts knowing this is my last.
  • Sorry to hear about how so many people have been getting sick! It just sucks when you can’t take regular cold/flu meds - hope everyone starts feeling better soon!

@wildrainbow - did your doctor give you any indication of what that cramping was? How scary!
  • @wildrainbow So glad you were able to go in and get checked out quickly, and everything is okay. ❤️ I was surprised to hear I'm getting another us at 16 weeks, but I will take the extra peek + all the peace of mind I can get.

How are you feeling today?  Any better?
  • @sincethelastday He didn't have a real clue. I got my lab results back yesterday afternoon and my ALT is slightly elevated. I dont know if that had anything to do with it.

@BusinessWife I am feeling a lot better.  Im still having intermittent cramps,  but they are very sporadic and not as painful as they were.
  • @sincethelastday Almost time!

@hanshotfirst77 I'm glad your BP is doing better.

@BusinessWife Sorry, that's been triggering.  I just avoid conversations about birth control in general.  As someone who both went through IF and is in a same-sex relationship I always feel like I have nothing, I can add there.

@cashewchicken Sending you energy this passes soon.  Stinks.

@31magnolia Good luck on the name quest.

    @angelina1919 So much sickness around.
@wildrainbow I'm glad things are going better that can be very scary.

  • ***Lurking*** Sorry if this is not allowed.
@wildrainbow my ALT was also elevated during pregnancy. My doctor said it could be due to being sick or dehydration. I have been drinking 80 oz of water daily and my numbers improved dramatically. I hope this helps.

  • Omg @mtpbadger Congrats!! I'm so excited for you!
  • @cashewchicken Aw, thanks!  Today is indeed her first day at the new daycare.  We're trying not to freak out about the carbiness of and lack of vegetables on the menu, and reminding ourselves that she'll be running around more once she better gets the hang of this walking thing.  But my commute is bearable once again :)

    Congrats @mtpbadger!!

holy crap that's awesome! FX for continuing good news!

    @artemis618
Carbiness or not, I'm jealous of all of these daycares that provide lunches! I'd pay extra for our school to provide lunch! It's such a hassle to pack everything! Although I do get to make the teachers all amazed with Anne's lunches and snacks since I use bento boxes to keep everything neat and separate. They keep asking me where I buy them! I used to pack lunch for myself for work each day and got into bento style lunches just to keep the boredom down. I need to buy her a new lunchbag though -- I've been using a cloth one and it's just been -wrecked- with the amount of use it gets/stains/etc.

  • @artemis618 It’s difficult to get toddlers to eat a balanced meal each meal, with their changing food preferences and their mood. I’ve decided that as long as my son’s combined meals from the day is somewhat balanced out, it’s alright. So if he ate mostly carbs for lunch, then we try to give him more proteins and veggies for dinner. Embarrassed to admit, but when my son refuses to eat veggies all day, we often give him a pouch (puréed fruit/veggie thing). It’s better than nothing, is our reason. I also sneak in veggies into his food, like meatballs. If you are worried about your daughter’s diet from the obesity aspect, once your daughter starts running around, she will lose some of the baby fat. My son used to be a bit more chubby (but never fat, always 25 percentile in weight and height) but he is so skinny now that he runs and climbs everywhere.

  • I am so excited for you!!! @mtpbadger I know it's nerve wracking in early days, but you are pregnant! 🎉🎉🎉 You totally go here!  When do you get your first scan?  I'm assuming the REs office will still follow you till 8 or 10 weeks?

@mbradfo2 that is so smart with the bento boxes!  I was packing a million little glass containers, and it was both tedious and unweildy.  Curious if you get a new box / bag for her what you go with!  Do you have a link to your current bento box?  Not going to lie, not having to prepack all her food is quite possibly my favorite thing about being home with DD now.

@artemis618 how did it go yesterday?  So glad your commute is improved.  That means So much.

is the box I use for her main lunches. They've held up REALLY well in the dishwasher and are really easy to clean. I also include two smaller plastic containers with her snacks (morning and afternoon). For the plastic containers (which are just your standard snapware/plastic container), I use little silicone cups like https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Reusable-Silicone-Baking-Cups/dp/B01KWTGAVQ/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=silicone+cups&qid=1583505943&s=home-garden&sr=1-4 to hold the 'messy' part of the snack or separate two items. I usually send fruit or dip in one of the cups with some goldfish or crackers. The bag I'm using is just a standard cloth zippered lunch bag I grabbed at Target (it's not among my amazon orders or I'd link it) that has a compartment for the main bento box and another that holds the snack boxes.

Not sure yet what I'll replace the bag with -- I love the look of the Disney Animator's Collection lunch tote but I'm worried about its size!

  • @mtpbadger Great to see you here! Hope things continue to progress positively.
  • Thanks everyone! I'm still in complete and utter shock. It's weird to not be on any PIO, estrogen or anything like that. I keep thinking I'm forgetting to take something!

@businesswife my first scan is next Thursday so hopefully there will be something to see! I'll probably stick with them till about 8-10 weeks but my OB is pretty awesome and said he'll do blood work twice weekly to make sure everything's going well until my HCG reaches about 10,000 and then he'll bring me in for a scan/first prenatal. He'll monitor me pretty closely since I went into pre-term labor with my daughter - unfortunately that most likely will mean progesterone shots weekly once I hit the second tri.
  • @mbradfo2 We're only two days in but it is such a blessing not to have to scramble in the morning (because I was terrible about doing it the night before) to pack DD's snacks and lunch every day.  Our old daycare provided snacks (but sometimes with added sugar so we usually provided our own) and partnered with an outside company to provide organic lunches for $150/month, which was really tempting for the convenience, but again, too carby for us.

@cashewchicken Thanks for the tips.  I guess we're kinda not there yet (I don't think?) with the pickiness.  Although she did stop eating broccoli with which she had no issue before (she'll still take it in soup form).  Unfortunately, she's never accepted food from a pouch.  I'm terrible and forgot her lunch one day when she was still in infant class and work upstairs from a Target (again daycare was 4 blocks from my office), so I brought them a couple of pouches when I went to nurse her in the AM - she flat out refused to eat them.  I wasn't worried about the obesity aspect (once she started solids, she went from about 20th percentile to about 30th - I guess we'll see at her 15 mo appointment in about a week where she is now) until both days the teachers at the new place commented on what a good eater she is...

@BusinessWife Thanks!  So far, so good.  She did cry each morning, but like yesterday they said she stopped before DH even got to the gate (as if she just said,"eh, why waste the effort if Dad can't hear me."  They otherwise seem seem delighted that she's a pretty mellow baby, gets along with everyone, and has clearly been in daycare before (despite our cloth diapers p).  I love the great yard for her to run around in and that she gets to eat lunch outside every day (although I think it's supposed to rain here this week).

Just turned in my 24 hour urine test sample.  I worked from home yesterday to collect.  I swear I don't know how people use just one container.  I ended with a full one plus about 3" from the top of the second one.  And I drink way more water in the office than I do at home.  Hopefully I won't have to do that again.

Hope your weekends are all going well!

  • @cashewchicken @angelina1919 - hope you both are starting to feel better. I hate not being able to take any real meds! The headaches alone are driving me crazy. Tylenol does not get rid of them, never has. I have to use advil and now I can't.

@wildrainbow - I'm so glad everything turned out OK!

@mtpbadger - Yay! Welcome. The exact same thing happened to me. I was waiting to start the next IVF cycle and then BAM! Positive test. LOL. Sounds like you have a great OB.
