Re: Week 3 Check-in w/o 3/2

  • EDD/weeks+days:  11 weeks + a few days

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green:  I'll find out next week!

Baby is the size of a(n):  I am not sure lol

Upcoming appointments: Next week I finally meet my actual OB

    How are you feeling?  Great!!

Raves/Rants:  Today I got the NIPT blood draw done (after trying twice last week, and two different administrative reasons it didn't work).  The woman at the lab was totally incompetent! I had to explain to her what she was supposed to do before and after drawing blood, and talk her through the whole thing (including things like "write my name on this line on the vial").  I swear, if I could draw my own blood, I would have just done it myself.

    Questions:

GTKY: Embarrassing story from my childhood:  I have hundreds of embarrassing stories but one that sticks out is in about 2nd grade I was absolutely SURE I walked into the girl's bathroom and Justin McCauliffe (the cutest boy in class) was right there, and I was telling him to get out of the girl's bathroom, but it turns out it was the boys bathroom after all. So embarrassed.

Baby is the size of a(n):  apricot I think

Upcoming appointments: just had my 12 week today.

How are you feeling? Tired of feeling sick. I was Anxious about my appointment but it went well.

Raves/Rants: Had my 12 week appointment. They weren't going to do a scan but because I asked they did. Baby was moving and I don't have an anterior placenta this time so hoping to feel more movement.  I saw a new OB and I wasnt really a fan.  I don't think he appreciated my anxiety or loss history and made it seem like it was no big deal.

    Questions: Nope

GTKY: Tell us an embarrassing story from your childhood.

Haha I think I’ve blocked them all out. My best friend in 6th grade (obviously not my friend after this incident) stole my journal and told everybody at school who I had a crush on.  It was mortifying and I lost a friend in the process.  It turned out to be a good thing as she was pretty troubled but at 11 you don’t really understand that.
  • EDD/weeks+days: 12 weeks

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding Out

Baby is the size of a(n): plum

    Upcoming appointments: Friday!

How are you feeling? Nausea and a mild but pretty constant headache and some general anxiety about Friday.

    Raves/Rants:

Questions: So I am apparently scheduled for the blood work but not the scan that is supposed to accompany it? I’ve no idea what to expect. Did anybody have the NIPT yet?

GTKY: Tell us an embarrassing story from your childhood.
I have a little heart shaped birthmark on my neck. When I was about 4 I was playing in our backyard when our neighbors stopped us to show us that they’d gotten their dog a new collar with a heart shaped tag and I was so excited because I thought we were twinning. I ran into the house and exclaimed to aunt and her new husband “I have a heart on like the dog next door!”
They heard something completely different and my new uncle (who had very little experience with kids) was so mortified that I can still picture how red his face was.
It is still probably the most retold story of our childhoods.
  • EDD/weeks+days: 11 weeks 5 days

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: were having a boy!

Baby is the size of a(n): lime

    Upcoming appointments:today !

How are you feeling? Nausea-it’s been worse the last few days than the rest of the pregnancy.

Raves/Rants: work is super stressful right now.  Combine that with the exhaustion and I’ve been going to be so early. And then waking up and 4-5 in the morning. I just want to be sleeping normally !

Questions: when did you start to get your energy back?

GTKY: Tell us an embarrassing story from your childhood
i have entirely too many lol

@beaandthebabes-I had the NIPT bloodwork  done. Only took 6 days to get my results.
  • EDD/weeks+days: 9/20 11+2

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): lime

    Upcoming appointments: 3/9 and 3/11

How are you feeling? Alright. I thought I was getting over being nauseous but it still definitely happens. Eating usually still helps though unless I’m not in the mood for whatever I’m trying to eat.

Raves/Rants: my dog has been irritating me. I feel like I can’t lie down without being in the fetal position covering my stomach. If she’s close to me she somehow always finds a way to step on my stomach. She just did it with one paw and it hurt (shes 65 lbs). I try not to worry too much and I know everything is pretty insulated but the baby is getting bigger now and is still so fragile and I really want to avoid anything pushing into there. Ugh. Other than that things have been okay. Still pretty stressed out. H has a phone interview on Friday for a position across the country. I hope he gets it. Then we can move back to be closer to his family.

Questions: have you guys had your pets and/or children lay or step on your stomachs? I go crazy every time it happens

GTKY: Tell us an embarrassing story from your childhood. Kinda long so I put in spoiler.
which one? Haha I was pretty awkward as a kid so my whole childhood was embarrassing. One I can think of is when I was in elementary school. I used to walk home alone along a main road. The older kids on the busses once were yelling out of the windows at me and it made me really uncomfortable. So after that I took the longer way through the neighborhood next to mine. I figured out I could hop the fence into my backyard that way I wouldn’t have to see the busses. However one day I had a big puffy winter coat on. I hopped over the fence and the back of the coat caught on the fence and I was just hanging there on the fence. Luckily my neighbor came home and could see me (our backyards weren’t separated by fencing they were townhomes) and they helped me down. After that I was definitely more careful!
  • I am CRACKING UP at y'alls stories. I'm really glad I asked that one lol.

@beaandthebabes My dr. also said they don't do the NT Scan anymore bc of the bloodwork thing. That's new for me! My last three kids I had the scan. I figure if something inconsistent comes up in the bloodwork I'll ask for a scan then. I just had the blood draw done yesterday so I should have results next week.

Baby is the size of a(n): lime

    Upcoming appointments: NT scan 3/12

How are you feeling? Honestly, I am finding it hard to participate here. Between battling infertility, loss, and high risk pregnancy, I’m just full of worry and not excitement. I wish I could think about baby gear and nursery stuff and support others, but I’m in survival mode.

Raves/Rants: my hips and lower back are bothering me... and I also have some colostrum slowly leaking

Questions: Do you have any questions for me? Haha

GTKY: Tell us an embarrassing story from your childhood.

I peed my pants at home plate at softball practice in third grade. The bathroom was locked and I warned my mother I had to go badly, but she wouldn’t let us leave early because the team would lose 3 players (my twin and another younger sister were on the team). I was up last and as soon as I opened my legs to take a batting stance, I couldn’t hold it anymore. I was so angry at my mother. I still don’t know if anyone noticed.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • @NYTino24 Let us be support for you. We’ll keep on being cheerleaders for you and the little fighters. You’ve got months and months to get to the being excited and talking about baby stuff bit. Take your time. Be gentle with yourself.

Also I have a cousin who had a similar thing happen (her dad was like OBSESSED with sports and wouldn’t let her leave the game to go to the bathroom) only the accident happened sliding into home.
  • @NYTino24 what @beaandthebabes said! We are here for you and those babies and will support you no matter how much you feel like participating. Do what you have to do and take as much time as you need, we understand!
  • EDD/weeks+days: 9/17, 12w0

Baby is the size of a(n): plum

Upcoming appointments: I had my first midwife appointment on Tuesday, I scheduled my next one out for 6 weeks instead of 4. The fewer times I have to pay to take my 2 year old with me to the hospital, the better!

How are you feeling? My vomiting actually increased this week. I switched from coffee to green tea. And I didn't nap yesterday, and today I'm very tired now!

Raves/Rants: I am in a rut with our daily routine at home with me and the almost 2 year old. We watch a lot of PBS and eat a lot of kid food. I just don't feel like I'm doing anything most days

Questions: does it take time for b6 to build up in your system? I just added it in addition to my anti-nausea med

GTKY: Tell us an embarrassing story from your childhood.

When I was a preschooler we were on vacation, and we went to a public pool. I didn't want to get out and go find the bathroom, so I accidentally pooped in the pool. Everyone had to get out, and I didn't admit it was me.
