How are you feeling this week? Good. I’ve had a lot of energy but have been crashing hard at bedtime as a result.
What are you doing to stay active? HIIT and running. I did a yoga class this week for fun and it was so hard.
How did you do last week? This was a taper week for me because I have a half marathon tomorrow. So I just did one HIIT class, one short easy run, and a yoga class Wednesday.
Any goals for next week? Depends on how I feel after Saturday. I’ll take one or two rest days and then go back to my usual HIIT/Run schedule.
GTKY: Do you have any "real life" fitness/health accountability buddies? What motivates you to keep up the good habits?
My motivation is that I generally feel better physically and mentally when I work out regularly. Especially running, it helps keep my anxiety in check.
I have a tight knit group from my HIIT Group and they keep me motivated because they will straight up ask me where I was if I miss.
And I have a close group from my June 17 BMB that I chat with about running. We keep each other motivated and share our runs for the day/week. They were the ones that motivated me to run a marathon and we all ran one in 2019.
@tyrion_ Did your BMB all separately commit to running a marathon or did you all run the same one? (Either is crazy impressive.) Any special goals for tomorrow's half or just have fun/finish?
How are you feeling this week? I've felt really good and done pretty well eating, but been frustrated by my lack of exercising.
What are you doing to stay active? Cycling, pilates, officially the family dog walker now that DH is on crutches for 6 weeks..
How did you do last week? Not great. Good over the weekend/Monday, failed later in the week between evening plans and colder weather.
Any goals for next week? I would like to do a few minutes of exercise every weeknight, maybe rotating cardio and strength? My goal has been an EOD schedule but I haven't been doing it, so maybe the consistency of more frequent workouts will actually make it easier to stick to.
GTKY: Do you have any "real life" fitness/health accountability buddies? What motivates you to keep up the good habits? I don't, and I wish I did. These weekly check-ins are it for me right now, but I'm grateful for them! Pre-commitment has always been pretty key for me -- one of the reasons I love class format workouts (no way am I paying those late cancel fees!), but with kid(s) the expense, fixed schedule, and travel involved with that type of workout are all hard to make work.
@tyrion_ kudos to you, it all sounds awesome. I really don't like the way my belly feels when I run, it's so uncomfortable.
I haven't been doing much working out lately except walking up and down flights of stairs. I am hoping with spring time coming and with my nausea not killing me everyday I can start walking and doing some light free weights. My arms need to prepare to carry this baby around.
@tyrion_ that is awesome that you have a half tomorrow! good luck! I have done a ton of halfs and 2 marathons in the past. This past year I got really into hot yoga/spin and let running move to the back burner, but after this pregnancy I plan to get back into it because it makes me so happy and I have been missing it! You are making me miss it more!
@tyrion_ Good luck with your half! Let us know how it goes.
How are you feeling this week? Not bad but my body has been really feeling the stress of the layoffs at my company this week.
What are you doing to stay active? Elliptical, yoga, upper body strength
How did you do last week? I managed to turn things around over the weekend and went on my first run in a while. This week I’ve exercised four times so far and plan to do another workout tomorrow. I’ve been stress eating a lot though. After the layoffs my company has been giving us breakfast every morning to make us feel better and I’ve been taking full advantage.
Any goals for next week? Cut it out with the emotional eating at work out 5 times.
GTKY: Do you have any "real life" fitness/health accountability buddies? What motivates you to keep up the good habits?
DH is very encouraging and cheers me on about keeping up with my goals. Like @tyrion_, I’m motivated to exercise to maintain my mental well being. I have a history of anxiety and depression and exercising regularly helps me manage it without needing meds. I also want to bounce back faster after this pregnancy. It took me two years to lose the extra weight from my pregnancy with DS. While I don’t believe in the idea that women need to be a certain weight or look a certain way at all, for me the extra weight reflected that I was unhappy and not taking care of myself. Once I started exercising and eating healthy again, i was so much happier and goal driven and more present with my family.
How are you feeling this week? @tyron_ I'm similar in that I have more energy in the day but I'm crashing at night. I also have had a cough and I have stained my rib muscles from coughing, so that has been very painful and means that I can't wear my sports bra because it's too tight round my ribs (I have huge boobs so the sports bra is very necessary).
What are you doing to stay active? After having two weeks when I was on pelvic rest when I wasn't allowed to exercise and then a week of just being out of the habit I've managed to go to my exercise class that last two weeks and I had a jog/walk on Sunday (started as a jog and then the rib pain got bad and ended up as a walk).
Any goals for next week? This weekend I'm going to do some strength training as I can get away without wearing my sports bra and I don't think I'll be able to run again until my ribs have healed. Next week I'm going to go to me class again. Movement wise I can do pretty much anything apart from a push up without aggravating my ribs too much, it's coughing and sneezing that is actually doing the damage. If I can I might fit in a couple of short resistance training sessions.
GTKY: Do you have any "real life" fitness/health accountability buddies? What motivates you to keep up the good habits? @emiliadkay I like having classes booked too, if I've booked it I will always go and then if I go to my class I'll probably do something else that week too. Other than that I don't really have anyone to motivate me.
@radiohd18 I felt like that when I ran last pregancy and by 10w it was uncomfotable but it's been fine so far this time, possibly because I was running more before I got pregnant.
@emiliadkay It’s a group of 4 of us that discovered our mutual love of running. One of the ladies had several marathons under her belt and I mentioned I wanted to a marathon or something crazy to occupy my time and mind after my dad passed away. She encouraged me to sign up and she also signed up for a marathon around the same time as mine (these were a week apart). After we finished our marathons we both talked about wanting to to another and the two other ladies also were inspired and wanted in. We chose a marathon in CT (two of the ladies live there) and planned for it for Oct 2019. *TW* I got pregnant in May 2019 but lost the baby *end TW* and decided not to train or sign up because I’d “probably be pregnant by then” (joke was on me 😐). They all ran it together and I had insane FOMO. Anyway, sorry for the novel lol. I had no goals for today except be safe and have fun. And I did! Weather was a perfect 50 degrees and sunny!
@radiohd18 I’ve been really lucky with pregnancy and running comfort. It’s never bothered me but I recognize I’m a rare bird for sure.
@maelove 2 marathons, wow! That’s amazing! I’m looking forward to running more in the future.

@gomillis Thank you! It went well!
@cornichonmam Ugh, sorry your ribs are still so sore. I hope they fully heal soon.
