Okay, I'll start: I'm a pescatarian, and have been for about four years now. I did it for ethical reasons, because the factory farming meat industry in the U.S. is abysmal and torturous and I weep at the thought of those poor animals living their lives in disgusting filth and treated horribly all of their days. Plus, I don't feel that I should be eating something that I, myself, would not kill and butcher. It's just something I do for myself - I don't care that others eat meat. I'm not going shouting from the rooftops that everyone should give up eating food with feet or that you're a monster if you eat cheeseburgers. MH still eats meat, and quite often. I just don't partake when he does.
However...
I make an exception when I'm pregnant. Sometimes the craving for fried chicken or tri tip is just too much, so I cave. It's not all the time, and it's not like I gorge myself when I do. And I certainly feel guilty for it, but not as guilty as I thought I would.
@babyodo DH is catholic so obviously doesn’t eat meat on Fridays during lent. I always try to observe lent with him because I just think it’s one way I can support his beliefs. But not when I’m pregnant baby!!! Getting a chicken sandwich from sonic right now because lately that’s what sound appetizing.
i've been vegetarian/vegan for awhile now, and yea before i knew i was pregnant i felt so guilty because i had these sudden intense cravings and i actually caved and had grilled chicken at an event. ofc when i got my positive test it made more sense i had pollo loco the other day because everything else sounded disgusting, i was sitting on the floor crying right before that so symptoms are in full swing here :P
I’m at SeaWorld, I support them, and I love it. While I agree they had a crappy past, they also acknowledge it, and I think Black Fish was a BS propaganda film. They do SO MUCH for injured animals and marine wildlife science, I feel like the creators of BF went after them because they’re the biggest in the industry. If people want to boycott, they need to look at Lolitas enclosure at Miami Seaquarium, and I also believe they should hold the same standards and boycott other parks with animals (Disney) and zoos.
My husband and I live in a village context in Northern Chad as expats... we have a limited stash of chocolate as everything we bring has to come from the capital (several hours away) AND fit in our tiny solar freezer- don’t tell him but I totally ate the next two week chocolate ration!! Knowing him he’ll figure it out soon and share his portion! 🥳💕
I have a FFFC: brought over from the STM thread - I’m annoyed I got rid of our rock n play now that you can’t get them anymore. I’m one of the most sleep safety paranoid people out there (no bed sharing, no blankets or stuffies or bumpers, etc...) but we only used them supervised and never as an overnight sleep option. That thing was so stinkin’ useful. I was really upset when I found out that companies had been advertising them as sleep options. I get why they were recalled. I just don’t have one of my main tools that I had for 3 other kids. (I’m sure I’ll find something else and I’m just being dramatic.)
