Re: TTGP Grad Check-in 2/27

  • Posting this super early because I know the work day will get away from me today! Hopefully I can check in around bed time. 😴

What's going on this week? Had to hit the ground running after vacation last week. I'm in my new classroom and there's been a lot of adjustments (like no time to be on TB).

How far along are you? 28+5

Upcoming appointments? I'm on the 2 week appointments now,  so 3/9! I guess the 3-hour next week too...

Cravings/Symptoms? So tired. And moody. I definitely lost my cool with DD last night (granted I had been calm and collected already through 1.5 tantrums and 1 meltdown all in the evening after work).

Rants/Raves/Randoms? DD's bedtime fight is getting ridiculous and DH and I are at a loss for what to do. Last night she fought and fought. We have so many calming routines and she's like immune to them. She finally passed out in my bed somewhere around 11:30pm. My sleep is definitely being affected and DH and I don't really get any quality time (I've barely talked to him all week). I know she's sensing  the change coming and I'm trying to be understanding but she also needs more than 6 hours of sleep. As do I!

  • What's going on this week? I am getting a massage today at lunch!! I may be meeting up with my best friend and one of her kids this weekend and then I am taking Tuesday off for a bunch of appointments. Taking DD to the dentist and I'm getting my hair done.

How far along are you? 29 weeks!

Upcoming appointments? Tuesday for 30 weeks!

Cravings/Symptoms? Huge belly, sometimes some pain in my right low back/hip/butt area. Short of breath.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? DD is sick with a chest cough. Luckily H has off today and tomorrow so he can keep her home. We are debating on just continuing to monitor or going in to the doctor before the weekend.

    Questions?

@jrouge12 Sorry about the tough night time routine.

@jrouge12 Can I ask what time you start bedtime and how old she is? Maybe if you're starting later, she's overtired? We start around 7:20 and kids are in bed by 8:00. They both have little handheld nightlights, so sometimes they look at a book for a little bit or DD likes to sing to herself. Other than calling us in to ask made up questions, it goes pretty smoothly.

@m6agua Have a great time getting your massage! Hopefully your daughter starts feeling better. It's so sad when kids are miserable.

    AFM:

What's going on this week? Not much. Just working and excited tomorrow is my Friday off. I have big plans to pre-register at my hospital, followed by picking up a copy of Frozen II for the kids and, maybe if I'm really motivated, putting my gym membership on hold.

How far along are you? 29 weeks today!

Upcoming appointments? OB tomorrow. I'm relieved that I'll have a chance to tell her about my constant Braxton Hicks and fairly constant back pain. Hopefully it's normal.

Cravings/Symptoms? My stomach is rock hard like 75% of the day and night. If I stand up, walk, cook dinner, need to pee, eat, or do anything other than sit/lay, my stomach is completely tight. It's so uncomfortable. Also, iron supplements suck. And my hemorrhoids are out of control. So, fun times over here! 😂

Rants/Raves/Randoms? DD is 3.5. She told me the other day that her "best friend" told her that she didn't like DD's shoes, and DD was all upset. So we had the conversation about how as long as DD liked them, it didn't matter what her friend thought. But seriously, this is already starting? 🙄

    Questions? Nope.

  • @jrouge12 good luck on the bedtime issues. Hopefully DD comes around and finds what works for her.

@m6agua enjoy your massage! And I hope DD feels better soon!

    What's going on this week?
I just found out there's a place in town where you give them the age of your child and they print out a list of daycares in the area that take children of that age along with info about the place, contact info and a number you can call to see if there have been any complaints. I'm going back to work part time so we'd only need daycare for dd 1-2 days a week, and DS will be in kindergarden so no daycare needed for him. So I plan to get the list this week and start calling and setting up appointments to check some out.

    Upcoming appointments?
3/17 is my next ob appointment

    Cravings/Symptoms?
My entire lower half is just in pain. Hips, pelvis, lower back and now my legs. I have to wear a pad constantly because I pee myself all the time...isn't pregnancy glamorous :D DH bbq'd hotdogs the other night for dinner and I can't stop thinking about how amazing they were! I think we need hotdogs again this weekend. And honeydew melon. It's been so good lately I can't get enough.

    Rants/Raves/Randoms?
At my OB appt on Tuesday we discussed my rcs and doc said he'd put it on the books for May 7th. I got a call yesterday from his office staff saying it's all booked for the 8th lol. It doesn't really matter to me what day. H and I were discussing mother's day recently, we always go to his grandma's for mother's day. When I first became a mother I resented it (why didn't I get to decide what I wanted to do for my day?) but these days, I'd rather spend the day with my in-laws than my family. Anyways, I wanted him to be aware that with mother's day being shortly after birth, I might not be feeling up to it and he totally agreed, but moving my rcs to the 8th, I definitely won't be out of the hospital before mother's day (most likely I'll go home that day) so we definitely won't be going to the in-laws. I might send him over there to get me some food though, or ask MIL to deliver some lol.

    Questions?
  • @jrouge12 Ugh, I'm sorry about the bedtime struggles.  We went though a rough patch with DS where he became very resistant at bedtime, and the only thing that worked for us was staying consistent and just powering through it.  The most important thing is not to create any new habits you don't want to be permanent.  I agree she might be over-tired, especially if she's in the process of dropping a nap.  Also, I forget exactly how old she is, but just before DS turned 3, he would NOT go to bed easily or fall asleep until super late if he had taken a nap that day.  So that was when we started dropping his nap at home, and once he completely adjusted to not napping during the day, he started going to bed a lot easier.  But, he was never a great napper to begin with.

@m6agua Enjoy your massage!  Tell them about your back/butt pain and they can work that section extra.  I was amazed at what a difference it made when they loosened everything up for me at my massage.  It's been about a month and a half now and I really want to go get another one!

@ruby696 I hope you get some good answers and strategies to help with the BH!  Also, DS has a shirt that has bugs on it, and a couple of kids in his class said they didn't like it, andhe just laughed and thought it was funny.  But then his little crush (he is completely enamored with her and it's hilarious and adorable) said she didn't like it and now he won't wear it to school anymore.   It has become his weekend shirt instead.  I agree, too early for peer pressure!!!

@splashmountain Good luck with the daycare search!  May 7th is my due date, and I'm just really hoping I don't have to be in the hospital on Mother's Day!

What's going on this week?  I have a half day tomorrow!  We're heading down to visit family (2.5ish hours away) this weekend, and it will be our last trip over an hour away before baby arrives!  DS had a little bit of diarrhea last night and I was not feeling very good, so MH did bedtime solo and I went to bed super early.  Feeling much better today, thankfully.  He's going out tonight, so I'll be solo parenting, so fingers crossed we're both feeling better!

How far along are you?  30 weeks today!!!!

    Upcoming appointments?  March 13

Cravings/Symptoms?  No major cravings, mostly just aversions.  My back/right side of my butt are sore on and off, and I have varicose veins and hemorrhoids.  So compression stocking and belly bands over here.  Super sexy!  Oh, and heartburn, but I've been able to keep it manageable with Tums so far.

Rants/Raves/Randoms?  I can't believe I'm 3/4 of the way there.  This pregnancy has simultaneously been dragging on forever but also flying by.  I am really looking forward to May from both a warmer weather perspective and baby finally arriving.  Also, MH is going to finish building DS's new bed in his new room tomorrow, and I am really excited to finally be able to move him in so I can nest in the nursery.  That will likely happen next weekend, though, since we're traveling this weekend.  Also, I cashed in on my Amazon registry completion discount the other day and my mail carrier officially hates me now, I'm sure.

Questions?  When do I have to start worrying about spinning babies exercises?  I think baby is still sitting breech, and DS1 was head down super early so I never had to worry about it.  But the idea of having to invert myself daily is not the most exciting thing to me right now, haha.

  • @m6agua I hope the massage was wonderful! Hopefully DD is better soon!

@ruby696 We have a similar schedule. Start around 6:45 in bed by 7:45-8:00. She has a cat light that charges so she can move it anywhere in the room. Our newest problem is she's discovered opening the door is fun. We also took the rocking chair out of her room for baby this weekend. I know that's a cause of some problem because she would sit in it and read. Luckily her new bean bag chair arrived today so maybe it'll help tonight. I might also pick up Frozen this weekend but more so I can see it. Hopefully your appointment goes well tomorrow! That's ridiculous about your DD's shoes. I'm not ready for those tears!

@splashmountain Oh definitely aim to get MIL to deliver food! You need DH there to help! Good luck on the day care hunt.

@shamrocandroll Well at least tonight her over tiredness from last night's fight meant she was asleep about 1.5 hours after we put her in there. She dropped her nap like 2 years ago (she's 4) but will very rarely fall asleep during her quiet play time. They all have to sleep eventually, right? Have fun this weekend! I hope DS has an easy transition into the new bed! The MW at my Monday appointment told me that baby is lying sideways but didn't seem concerned! Hopefully she decides to go head down when she does settle.

  • @jrouge12 Well hopefully the bedtime madness is just a very, very short phase. My kids were too afraid of getting out of bed when it was dark, so I didn't have to worry about them letting themselves out. We've finally convinced them they can get up and go to the bathroom - no need to call us for an escort.
  • @ruby696 I missed tagging you yesterday. I hope everything goes well at the OB today and maybe they have an answer for all those BH. Also, your poor DD. I can't believe she's having to go through this so young!

@shamrocandroll have fun on your weekend getaway and omg I can't wait to cash in on the Amazon completion discount! My work baby shower is at the end of March so I'm waiting for now.
  • @ruby696 Oh man. It took DD one night in her toddler bed to figure out she could get up and play. Other parents told me too that their kids wouldn't get out of the bed until they came to get them. I'm sure her bold nature will be a good thing someday. The door opening is a new fun thing...
  • My massage was amazing yesterday. She focused on the tightness in my right hip/pelvis. I am really hoping it helped baby boy get out of the transverse position. I guess we will see at my appointment on Tuesday. I booked another massage for the end of March!

@ruby696 Ugh that is such a hard conversation to be having so young! How did the appointment go today, did they have anything to say about the BH?

@shamrocandroll I think spinning babies lays out when to start doing certain exercises for positioning. I know I went on and it looked like I could already start the forward leaning inversion for my transverse baby, but just 1x per day for now. I would take a look at what it says! I'm also jealous of the progress you are making with DS room. We sort of stalled out with DD's room. I'm really hoping to get finished packing away things this weekend and sell our office furniture to get it cleared out.

@splashmountain That is cool you can get a list like that, hopefully you can find a great place! That is exciting that you have a date set! Also I really want chili dogs after reading your stuff!

@jrouge12 @ruby696 When we first took the front off of the crib, making it a toddler bed, DD would get up and open the door or just move around. Then we put a child safety lock on the outside for a bit so she couldn't open it. Pretty quickly, maybe about a week, she started staying in her bed. Even now at 3.5 she still stays in her bed until we come get her. It is nice, but also annoying at the same time. As for bed time, or nap time, once we put her in bed she mostly stays put. Occasionally she will get up and grab a different book or stuffed animal, but she usually gets back into bed and will play in there until going to sleep.

  • @m6agua Nope, not much to say other than to stay really hydrated and that being pregnant with twins at 5 ft tall isn't easy. Which I'd kind of figured out for myself, so not that helpful. She did make sure I wasn't having any bleeding and told me that my uterus was under a lot of strain with two and more easily irritated.
