This is our first baby, and we want the sex to be a surprise. Any who has waited until your delivery, what color(s) and theme was your nursery?? I really have no idea, I need help!
It is really hard to find cute neutral unisex decor! I am planning out my nursery now and we are going to keep it really simple - pale yellow walls, white trim, cherry furniture, white bedding. I love the book "the Little Prince" so we are going to put a few small accents from the book in the room - small mural, pillow, pictures for the wall, etc. Not too theme-y though, just simple accents.
We are just starting the process of decorating now. We are painting the room with light yellow and dark yellow stripes. The theme will be "rubber duckies" and so we will have white furniture, lots of yellow and blue bubbles as the accents around the room (accents will be the rug, curtains, hamper, lamp, sheets, etc). So far, I am really excited since it is coming together really well!
We got rubber ducky shower curtain hangers to hang the window curtains with, and rubber ducky drawer pulls.
We are not really going with any sort of "sets" that we find in the store - we are designing and making a lot of the stuff ourselves.
We were pretty adament that we didn't want any specific "characters" as the theme - we wanted something that was kind of cool, fun and understated.
Also, I really don't think that certain colors need to be associated with a gender. Pink is pretty much a girl color, but other than that, I really think that any colors can go either way.
Until we found out that Sam was going to be a boy, we decided to use animals as the theme of the nursery. Sage and tan walls with a jungle animal theme that wasn't too masculine.
We plan to find out but I didn't want to do blue or pink. Our nursery is yellow with white carpet and cherry furniture. We're adding lots of green accents (slip covered wing back chair, changing pad cover, decorative baskets). Our bedding is NOJO Critter Chatter and is sort of a barnyard theme. DH and I both LOVE animals so we knew we'd want to pass that on to baby.
While we aren't waiting to find out the sex, we did start painting the room before we got our BFP (because of reasons beyond our control). We did a light blue on top and a darker, greyish blue on bottom with stars, and a white chair rail. Will look adorable with pink accents if a girl, and obviously will also work for boys.
PIB. We did blue walls, green dresser, yellow crib, red and blue bedding and white shelves. DR. Seuss is very colorful! DD is now 2 and loves pink anyway.

--sorry for the late reply--
My husband and I are keeping the sex a surprise as well. And I'm actually excited about the nursery...growing up, I've always been a Panda Bear lover, so I plan on painting the walls khaki or a lighter shade. My friend is painting me some panda artwork on 2 small-sized canvas boards (not too small, but not too big either) and I'll maybe have the bedding and accents a light green- I'm still working on that (shopping around for bedding). I have a ton of stuffed panda bears and little statues that I've preserved to decorate the nursery.

we're doing a pale baby blue room with very cutesy baby prints and decor. Lots of soft textures and ruffles.
Until we found out that Sam was going to be a boy, we decided to use animals as the theme of the nursery. Sage and tan walls with a jungle animal theme that wasn't too masculine.

I love that! It's gorgeous!
Do you know if they painted the tree themselves or if its a sticker/stencil.
Thanks!
