Nightmares

I am newly pregnant, and it was by an abusive ex. Mentally and physically, we broke up before I found out. But every night I’m haunted with dreams of him breaking my heart in new ways each dream, I’ll wake up and go to sleep and it’s the same dream. Does anyone know the cause of this?

The cause of this is the mental abuse you went through. Please seek counseling/professional help.

To add onto what @harpseal135 said above, dreams in the first trimester are notably bizarre. Your body has tons of new hormones coursing through it, combined with fatigue and/or insomnia, and it's a perfect recipe for all sorts of crazy dreams. Please seek counseling to help you during this tough time. Once you start to feel safer, you'll hopefully see some relief.
