I hope everyone has a good Monday! My first client canceled so I get an extra hour of morning R&R before I get up to start my day. I couldn't get back to sleep after getting up to help DH get the kids ready fir daycare, but I'm enjoying the slow start. Usually my Mondays out of the house are hectic and almost 12 hours!
In a fit of sleepy rage, I threw my pregnancy pillow out of that bed last night. I'll try it again when my belly is bigger, but now I just feel so confined in my bed. I'm just touched out by the end of the day and I need to spread out. Last pregnancy, I loved that thing.
I've been waiting for literally months and now the day is here, first OB appointment and now I'm horrified. What if I'm not really pregnant? (Because I've only peed on 2 sticks and it's been over 100 days since I've had a period.) What if I get into the doctors and they decide not to take me? What if I pee my pants on the drive to the doctors? What if my vagine smells funny during the peek and poke? (Also I'm ticklish and it gets worse if I'm nervous and these are new doctors are they going to be horrified when I laugh when they touch me anywhere?) What if I pass out during the blood draw? What if I forget all the paperwork I've filled out at home and have to re-do it there and they turn me away because of that?
I feel like I could rally and be excited if I knew I was getting to see baby today but this practice doesn't do ultrasounds on the first visit so I won't get that today. I'm kind of hoping they change their minds about that since I'm at least 14 weeks in but I doubt they will.
@RedBaramid Deep breaths, hun. You will be fine. If anything, they will prolly do a doppler, so concentrate on the fact that you will probably hear the hb. That is a great thing! Don't worry, you got this and these doctors are used to the crazy, they so deal with pregnant women, you know? Just remember to breathe, all is well. We are all a little crazy for appointments.
Also, I has the poops. Fourth time to the bathroom in less than 2 hours. :s Thankful it's a day off, but really I shouldn't be sending DD to daycare tomorrow, either, since she had a yucky diaper this morning, too. 🤷 Counting down my shifts till FMLA starts...
@RedBaramid ugh the pre-appointment jitters are the worst! I remember feeling that way before my last appointment, too. What if we had lost the baby? What if DD was there to see the US and it was not good and she had to see me totally lose it??? 😫. (((hugs))) I'm sure it'll all go just fine ❤️
@RedBaramid Girl, they've seen it ALL! Anything that you do, I'm sure they've experienced something a hundred times weirder on any given occasion. Don't freak out! I know it's so hard not to get anxious, especially on that first visit, but know that I am so excited for you! 14 weeks is such a long time to wait for even just a basic visit. Keep us posted, and I'll be thinking of you!
Guys. It's hair appointment day. I'm even bringing a book to read while the dye sets. A BOOK, YOU GUYS! In the middle of the day. I could cry.
@RedBaramid thats so odd, no US on first appointment... even when you're 14 weeks. I could maybe understand if it were earlier. IDK, do you only get an US at 20 weeks?
Last week of first tri.... so ready for second tri. Last pregnancy it was my only good/ happy time. Thanks to MH everyone knows about the pregnancy, name, and sex already (he posted drunkingly on social media Saturday night). My birthday was last week so now that thats over im focusing on squeezing some fun stuff into second tri like camping, hopefully a babymoon, DS's birthday, and some other stuff.

@redbaramid pre-appointment jitters are for real. I smashed my side mirror into a trash can on my way to my NT scan. I totally feel you on the anxiety. Hope it went well and you’re on the other side of the anxiety now 💗
@wildrainbow So beautiful! It really comes through the dark hair, your stylist did an amazing job!

Update: Guys, the Nurse Midwife I saw today was the sweetest human in the world. We talked about my weird fear that I wasn't pregnant and she just laughed at me and told me she promised she'd just seen the urine test they did, it was very clearly positive. She said they don't typically use a doppler on a first appointment but given how far along I am she grabbed one just to put me at ease. We heard one very loud and steady heartbeat today. I go back Friday for an Ultrasound and Monday for the big lab draw appointment and that's when we'll talk about all the genetic testing etc.
You are also all angels. I was so nervous when I got to my appointment I was almost shaking. I'm so relieved and happy right now.
@psychobutthead I'm so sorry you're still feeling crappy. I hope your doctor is able to help tomorrow. Hang in there!
@RedBaramid That's wonderful news! I'm glad you had a reassuring appointment that helped put your mind at ease. Can't wait to see your ultrasound pic! ❤️❤️❤️

My mom came over this weekend and helped me clear out my closet. We packed away stuff I won't be able to wear for a while and put together bags for consignment shops and donation. The result is when I open my closet and drawers I see clothes I can actually wear, which makes me feel like I have more clothes, even though I technically have less. I also think it was good for me to think about which clothes I'm ready to pass on while I'm feeling excited about the changes in my body v. postpartum when I might be having harder feelings around body image. I was surprised that a few things I haven't worn in a while made the cut for my scaled back closet, bc before I didn't like the way they hugged my curves but now I'm feeling excited about showing off the bump. It also helped me identify where some gaps are so I have a better idea of what maternity clothes I should be keeping an eye out for. It also made me feel like I took the first step in the long process of getting the house ready for my little guy
Anyone else doing some spring (lol I wish) cleaning?
Just catching up from the weekend... the app has been terrible for me... grrrr
@RedBaramid The fears are real! I had and have the same leading into my appt tomorrow, even though I've had two us and no reason to worry (KOW). I'm so glad your appt went well and the were kind enough to let you hear the hb!!
@BusinessWife Ugh, hope you and YD are feeling better!
@lachnessmomster How wonderful to get some quality time... how did your hair come out??!
@rivercitynik Can your mom come help me sort through my closet? Lol... I was just talking with MH about this bc once we find a house we need to list our asap and my closet is a disaster. On my list for next weekend.

I really need my hair cut that sounds amazing @lachnessmomster. I don't know if this happened to anyone else but last pregnancy my hair barely grew at all and it didn't really start growing again until after all the post-partum hair loss.
My bump is clearly popping as a stranger commented on me being pregnant today. I can't believe how big I am second time round, I look 20w already. I was hoping I would be able to hide it from the kids at school for a bit longer but It's getting quite obvious.
@lachnessmomster, cute! I just recently got my hair cut, too. So nice to have healthy ends and some length taken off. My sister did that kind of "oil slick" type hair. It looks so fun! I love the whole mermaid/oil slick/whatever type of multi-color ombré hair, even though I don't think I'd ever do it for myself.
@rivercitynik, good for you! Sigh, it's so hard for me to do that. I listed a bunch of stuff on Poshmark about eight months ago, but only one thing sold. I probably should just donate it, I guess. It's so hard for me to clear out things that don't fit because I think "oh, I'll wear that again when I lose weight." And I know "they say" not to just keep stuff around on that what if, but the thing is, I already did that once. I was back into a lot of it after my oldest was born when I quickly lost all I'd gained plus some and got pretty close to my college weight thanks to breastfeeding. So I have hopes I could do that again if I worked at being healthy and exercising. (Breastfeeding wasn't quite so magic after #2).
@rivercitynik ugh we have so much cleaning/organizing to do before baby gets here. We basically need to convert our home office into the baby room, and we haven't entirely figured out where everything that is currently in that room is going to go... I want to try to attack one room a weekend for the next few weeks so it seems a bit more manageable, but every time the weekend comes I don't feel like doing it
My awesome new stitchfix maternity jeans inspired me to pick up a few more pants (that are not pajama pants) so that I can dress myself and feel like 1. a presentable human being 2. Not like I'm still living in work clothes once I'm on leave. So the next step is definitely start pulling the winter wardrobe in favor of Spring! I'm excited. That sounds amazing @rivercitynik I was hoping maybe one of these days SIL would come over and help me with that.... 🤷
@psychobutthead Sorry you're not feeling well. I hope you got some rest today.
@BusinessWife I love stitchfix! I've been nervous to try their maternity clothes. I used to get stitchfix boxes often but it gets expensive so I just get one occasionally when I need a little boost to my wardrobe or to treat myself for a birthday or special occasion. Some of my best staple pieces came out of a stitchfix box.
@RedBaramid I’m so happy your appointment went well and you got to hear that beautiful heartbeat! I know the feeling of second guessing whether you’re really pregnant or if it was just in your head before the first appointment.
@psychobutthead Hope you and you kiddo feel better soon. Getting help with cleaning was truly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
@rivercitynik I love the feeling of cleaning out my closet and definitely plan on doing it soon. My brain is already in nesting mode but I don’t have enough energy to execute my plans lol.
Two randoms from me today. I had a midwife appointment and thought my MW said she was 37 weeks pregnant, so I asked her about it after the appointment. Turns out she was not pregnant and I made a total ass of myself! I’m so embarrassed.
Today DS was off school but I had to work so I took him to this new place that’s like a family friendly coworking space with a play area and supervised childcare for kids and work stations for parents. The idea was awesome but the execution was not great. The providers in the supervised childcare area seemed really inexperienced and the facility seemed incomplete. Anyway, I don’t think I will try it again until it’s been around for a while so they’ll have the kinks worked out. And I definitely would not leave a baby alone in the supervised care area.
@gomillis Noooo! Hahaha. That’s so rough. How did you smooth that one over!? On several occasions, people have asked my mother-in-law how far along she was. On none of those occasions was she actually pregnant. 😳
@lachnessmomster My jaw is on the floor. Your hair looks amaaaazing!
I said “oh I thought you said you were 37 weeks and I was thinking, she doesn’t look it!” So...not great. I will probably torture myself about this faux pas until the day I die.
@gomillis I am cracking up. 😂 I hope she had a good sense of humor about it! And thank you! It's come a long way from hacking it off in my bathroom with dull scissors. It felt good to actually have it taken care of.
@gomillis I would have prayed for the floors to open and swallow me up. I’m so sorry for that mix up. Also, that place sounds like it has a great concept. Hopefully they can figure out the execution because that would help so many parents!
@lachnessmomster O. M. G. You're hair looks absolutely gorgeous! 😍😍😍
@gomillis Ha! I'm sorry that happened but that is totally something that would happen to me/I would say. Just blame it on pregnancy brain... don't feel bad lol

@rivercitynik I’m inspired by your closet cleanout! I really need to part ways with some things I haven’t been and won’t be wearing for a while (crop tops 😂).
@gomillis I’ve been wanting to try one of those places when I work remote with DD at home for school closures. Such a bummer it didn’t work out well for you!
@cornichonmam starting to pop over here too! I recently looked at pics of myself last time at 14 weeks and what I thought was a bump. I look like 4-6 weeks more pregnant this time.
Is anyone else watching the Bachelor tonight? I’m so annoyed with this Bachelor!!!
@lachnessmomster gorgeous! I wish my hair had that kind of volume, it's jusjust totally poker straight and will never keep the slightest wave or curl. Yours is amazing!
This is one of the main reasons I had to tell my team at work, @tara4910 @cornichonmam it's starting to get a bit ridiculous, and I didn't want to have to try to dress to hide it, cos why???? So I'm glad the cat's out of the bag at least now I don't have to worry, "does this too make by bump look pregnant???" While I'm getting dressed in the morning....
#overit I've been up since 2 or 230 this morning. I crashed with DD, knowing I still had to make her lunch, get showered and dressed for work... So when I kinda woke early decided hey, take an hour or two of insomnia to get her food ready, let the dogs out, and sleep till 6 instead of 430 or 5.
Welp. That's not exactly how it went down. DD started to stir, and woke up because I wasn't there. So next couple hours is me up and downstairs getting a bottle, changing diapers, peeling and steaming carrots, filling containers... But I mean up and snuggling snuggling. She's struggling and not staying asleep. So I gave up eventually and went down with a plan to get through a mad dash and pack as much as I possibly could, as fast as possible. I saw her on the monitor climb past her pillow barricade and idk what. She's playing with something she found on the nightstand 🤷 I'm just watching from one side while whipping things together, hoping she doesn't fall out of bed.
Then she disappeared from the screen, and I see she's on the other end of the bed reading a book. 😍 She reads to her self for a few minutes, and next thing I know, she's crashed on the wrong side of the pillows, on our bed, instead of in her crib. A little after 5AM. Phew. So I'm proud of her for finally getter herself to sleep. But man o man, am I going to be tired today. 😫 I can't keep doing this.
That was the main thought that came to me as I was struggling to help her settle, is if it weren't for having to get to work in the morning, I wouldn't be doing any of it. Maybe I would have gotten up to let the dogs out, tidy up the kitchen a bit, but as soon as she was awake, I could have just gone right back to bed with her and snuggled ourselves both back to sleep and not worried about packing all the lunch. Sigh. 🤷 I still don't know what *I'm* having for lunch today. I am pretty much done, but I need to do my best to get through the end of the month...
@BusinessWife I don't know how you do it. MH and I have been VERY fortunate in the fact that for most of our daughter's life, we have been in a position where one person is either working from home or now I'm able to just be a stay at home mom. I cannot imagine the morning hustle and the lack of sleep you're going through. You and any other woman that goes through this are absolute WARRIORS and I honestly respect the shit out of you guys. I never wanted or intended to be a stay at home parent but when I read your struggles I wonder if I could do it if I was still working.
