Re: Group 2 Check-In (May 9-16) w/o 2/10

  • EDD/weeks+days: May 15/26+3

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: blue

Baby is the size of a(n): kale (I hate kale and was very upset this was the weekly comparison when it popped up)

Upcoming appointments: 2/24 for a regular check-in, but we have an infant safety class as well as childbirth class this week!

How are you feeling? still feeling pretty good. I've had some back pain, noticed it's worse after I have been going for longer walks on the weekends.

Raves/Rants: Took the day off today, and so glad I did. Sometimes you just need another day to relax.

    Questions: nope

GTKY: Any Valentine's plans? no plans here - MH is not big on Valentine's Day so I never force it. We met the weekend before Valentine's Day so we always celebrate that anniversary the week before. Last weekend we went out to the movies and a nice dinner.

Baby is the size of a(n): kale

Upcoming appointments: 2/28 regular check plus glucose test

How are you feeling? Soooo tired

Raves/Rants: mostly, just want to have more energy to do things

    Questions: nope

GTKY: Any Valentine's plans? No, we've never celebrated valentine's day.
  • EDD/weeks+days: May 16/ 26+2

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pink

Baby is the size of a(n):. Kale

Upcoming appointments:  Next Tuesday I have my GD and iron test and my Midwife appointment. Busy day!

How are you feeling? Tired, winded and hungry sums up my life right now.

Raves/Rants: I sliced my finger open a few weeks ago. it's almost closed but I have nerve damage. The top layer of skin is still numb so zero feeling with light touch but excruciating pain with a small amount of pressure. And the cut is large it wraps half way around it finger. I almost cried this morning doing my hair because I lightly tapped my figured against the tip of my curling rod. I would really like my finger back.

    Questions: nope

GTKY: Any Valentine's plans? Probably relax at home and watch a movie.

  • @heyybritt Glad you could enjoy a day off yesterday! Hope you enjoy and get something out of your childbirth class this week, you will have to let us know how it went.

@JStill0603 Oh man that would make me so so grumpy about the tacos.

@Jess09lynn How did you slice your finger? I'm sorry, that sounds so painful!

    EDD/weeks+days: 5/14, 26+5

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blue

Baby is the size of a(n): Bag of Sugar

Upcoming appointments: 2/18 for glucose screen, US re-check, and appt.

How are you feeling? This week has been good so far. My lower back is really tight/sore, I need to be better about stretching and all the things that help. The nausea I was having last week is still coming and going but it's better than last week so that's a win.

Raves/Rants: It's supposed to rain all week which is kind of a downer. It's been so much of a warmer winter here though. I have a dentist appointment today (I actually love getting my teeth cleaned) and I'm hoping I can fix dinner real quick afterward before I have to pick up DS. It's the little things  :D

    Questions: Don't think so.

GTKY: Any Valentine's plans? Nah, MH usually gets home late on Fridays since he's commuting home from DC. Maybe we will sous-vide some steaks Saturday or something.
  • EDD/weeks+days: May 13/26+6

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pink

Baby is the size of a(n): double gulp cup

Upcoming appointments: I'm doing an elective 3d/4d ultrasound on Thursday.  Next "real" appt is OB on 2/25 with glucose screening

How are you feeling? My back is a little sore, and I'm really exhausted lately, but overall decent I think for this point in pregnancy.

Raves/Rants: We went to a swing set retailer over the weekend and ordered a new huge swing set for DD.  It should be installed early March which will be perfect.  My goal is that this summer I can take the new baby out (if it's not too hot) and we can stay in the shade while DD1 plays on her new swing set and other toys she has in the back yard.  We went big on this one so really hoping it keeps her occupied for more than a few minutes!

    Questions: nah

GTKY: Any Valentine's plans? Nope, hoping for a chill weekend and my big dream is to maybe sleep in one morning.  Maybe I can convince DH to start painting DD1's big girl room as a "Valentine's Day gift" since I know he isn't going to buy me anything real.  We really aren't into Valentine's Day, and I'm not doing anything for him either though.  Is it bad that my only plans are to buy DD1 a few small things (stuffed unicorn, new unicorn sippy cup, and a tiny box of candy) and maybe something for the daycare teachers and nothing for DH?  Eh oh well.
  • @jess09lynn I had a cut like that on one of my fingers and it took years for the numbness to go away. So awful. Hopefully yours heals well and the feeling comes back quickly.

    EDD/weeks+days: 26+5/May 14th

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Lavender

Baby is the size of a(n): Kale or acorn squash - which are not remotely similar in size. 🤷‍♀️

Upcoming appointments: 3 hrs GTT on Friday and an appt with my MFM on Tuesday to go over results. Which does not seem like enough time to get the results, given this is a holiday weekend...

How are you feeling? Pretty good. I'm pretty awkward and uncomfortable, but babies are moving a lot so I'm happy.

Raves/Rants: My mom wanted to buy us a "big" gift for the babies, so I sent her a link to the Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair and asked for two... 😬 I don't think she meant that big, so I'm not expecting to actually get them. But I would be super excited if I did!

    Questions: Nope

GTKY: Any Valentine's plans? MH have a lunch date planned at an Indian place near my office. I'm super excited for an excuse to eat Indian food. That's about it.
  • EDD/weeks+days: 27+3/ May 9

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pink

Baby is the size of a(n): Lettuce

Upcoming appointments: Had a growth ultrasound + appointment today. My anatomy scan showed a marginal cord insertion on the placenta, so they were measuring growth today to make sure everything looked normal. All of my measurements were right on track, so the doctor said everything looked good and I didn’t have to do any more monitoring. Yay!

How are you feeling? My back hurts all the time. Every time I am on my feet a lot, I get Braxton Hicks.

Raves/Rants: I passed my 1 hour glucose test!

    Questions: Nope

GTKY: Any Valentine's plans? I’m just going to decorate, make dinner, do some Valentine crafts, and have cupcakes for DD + DS.

  • @bananapanda - I'm not planning to buy anything for DD or DH for V-day, so by my standards you're going above and beyond! And if DH isn't doing anything for you, it's totally reasonable that you shouldn't feel obligated to do something for him.

@ruby696 - Fingers crossed that you get those high chairs!!

    EDD/weeks+days: May 15/26w5d

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blue

Baby is the size of a(n): Slow Loris

Upcoming appointments: 2/19 glucose test and midwife appt. We also might try to get in to tour the birthing center at the hospital this weekend since we'll be going that direction for a museum playdate for DD anyway.

How are you feeling? Tired, nauseous on and off, and anxious about not having things ready in time for baby to arrive

Raves/Rants: I gave in and bought two Sakura Bloom ring slings, something I've wanted since DD was born and couldn't justify. One is a basic linen that I picked up at the sample sale and the other is second-hand silk. I've seen women also use them for belly support so I plan to figure that out soon since some days my belly feels so heavy. I'm excited to have them and hope I can get the hang of them fast when baby gets here!

    Questions: None

GTKY: Any Valentine's plans? I happen to have roll-out cookie dough in the freezer so DD and I will probably make heart cookies for her to bring to daycare on Friday, but otherwise, not planning to do anything for her or MH.
  • @jess09lynn use vitamin E oil. It’s a lifesaver. You can get the caps but it’s better if you get the actual oil. It’s very thick but I’ve had to use it a few times and recommend it a few times. I was shocked that it actually works.
  • Lurking from group 3...

@lajoliedreamer, I borrowed a Sakura Bloom sling from my BF for DD1. I loved using it (once you figure it out). There are YouTube videos to help with the different wrap methods. I think they are fab! I didn’t know they could be used for belly support, Neat!

       Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • Also I want to hang out with those of you doing cookies and crafts for Valentine's day that is exactly the sort activity I would enjoy and hope to do with my LO as she get's older!
  • @queenklau - I've definitely already started watching the ring sling position videos and even practiced a bit with one of DD's baby dolls!

@pirateduck - that really sucks about your dinner, I hope he felt horrible about all of it since he was responsible for you not getting food every time! I definitely would have cried, too.

  • I think in pregnancy I only cry over food and lack of sleep @lajoliedreamer :D  nothing legitimately tear jerking like a sappy movie or something tragic in real life.

I sometimes wonder with wraps and ring slings etc. how hard it's going to be to do them up right with a real baby that moves and such.  Is it going to be a two person job?  I'm sure you figure out a technique and it gets easier with time.
  • I have a couple other carriers I love (k'tan and onbuhimo) and both there was a learning curve to it. The first few times were awkward and I felt like I'd never get the hang of it, but then suddenly something clicked and it started to get easier until it became something I was doing without even thinking about it. It's definitely important to watch videos and read any instructions they come with. With my onbuhimo I would look at the directions and try it and it wouldn't work, then I watched a video while looking at the directions and realized I was putting DD's legs in the wrong place the whole time! (It was right in the directions, I was just having a weird mom brain moment and not comprehending it correctly). I'm hoping I can remember that when I'm learning the ring sling and not get as frustrated as I did at first with my other carriers!
  • I see myself with a video bookmarked on my phone so when I get the baby out of the car I know what I'm doing  :D
  • @pirateduck I would be annoyed with DH too.  Shouldn't he know better than to touch a pregnant woman's food?  Did he eat ALL of the toast? I could see if you made multiple pieces and he took one, but how does he think it's acceptable to eat it all? Rude!! Sorry that it upset you.  I totally get emotional over food too haha but even when I'm not pregnant I'm really temperamental to food.  I need exactly what I want when I want it and you better not mess it up or slow me down so at least DH is well prepared and things have gone smoothly most of this pregnancy around food.
  • Finally have some time to get on here and read through comments!

@rachelg777 I sliced my finger because I was hungry and taking short cuts by cutting an avacado in my hand instead of using a cutting board. So mad at myself because I always make it a point to use a cutting board.

@ruby696 oh that cut sounds terrible. The doc said it would take a while. Now I know what he meant. I had my heart set on that high chair but I can't justify buying it myself and I haven't been able to find one used. Hopefully you get them!!

@soprano19 How did your test go?

@JStill0603 I didn't even think of But E oil. I have some at home I'll start using it tonight. Thanks!!!!
  • @jess09lynn thanks for asking! I got the results in my Kaiser online portal today, and all three of my draws (1, 2, and 3 hour) were all within the normal range... in fact, my 3-hour draw was slightly below the normal range. I'm assuming this all means I passed, since no one has contacted me to tell me otherwise or talk about next steps.

@pirateduck I'm dying to know what was in the package from your MIL, lol.
  • @soprano19 that's great to hear!! It must take off a lot of stress.
  • @soprano19, good news! I failed the 1hr test and had to take the 3 hour one last time around. It’s no picnic! Glad you passed!

       Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • Well it was a birthday package for DH, she did ok this time and sent him a suitable shirt and pants, coffee and chocolate.  My SIL also stuck In a prenatal yoga DVD for me, which I think is a hand me down, but coincidentally was on my registry!  Some people just get it.

    @soprano19 congrats on passing!
