Baby Girl Holland

We are expecting our first baby girl (baby number 3)- and are thinking of Holland (Holly) for her name.

    Just use Holly.
Holland sounds silly as a full name, IMO.  It's a name of a city (I'm sure in more than just Michigan) and a region in the Netherlands.
Holly is a perfect, strong stand alone name.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say I love the idea of the name Holland and calling her Holly.

I like Holland or Holly, but I'm a big fan of naming your baby what you'll call it.  I have always been called my nickname, so when I go to the Dr or any legal documents, I automatically put my nickname out of habit and it's caused so much confusion over the years.  Many people don't even know my nickname isn't my real name.  I don't get why people name their kid one thing and then call it something different ie nicknames.

Its formality.   Some nick names sound very childish and not professional. When a kid grows up and they are going into the business world they don't want their resume to say their nickname, but their formal name to sound and look more professional. I see it as a safeguard for those baby/childish nicknames, that I kid may not like as an adult.

I find that people on the bump tend to have pretty traditional views when it comes to names. I think Holland is kind of cool, and honestly, SO many children have unique names these days. I think you should go with whatever you really love. People will get used to it!

I love both, but for some reason I don't think of Holly as a nn for Holland. I'm sure people would shorten it to Holls but Holly seems like a completely separate name to me.
