I need more ideas of what to eat that my body won't hate. So far I'm living on fruit, buttered toast, pasta with veggies, cottage cheese, bagels and cream cheese, mac and cheese, levain bread with cheese... maybe you are sensing a trend here?
I'm craving salty things, mostly carbs, but then bacon, mozzarella sticks (they're ok bc calcium right? 🤣) I'm usually better in the first half of the day then eat whatever at night. Having lots of yogurt with berries, avocado toast, guacamole which satisfies my salt-tooth lol.

I am craving salty: chicken wings, queso dip, and Chinese food. My current go-to lunch is a bowl of rice with pieces of chicken mixed with soy sauce and sriracha. I'm hoping that I can get some veggies this weekend at the store so that when I go back to work it's at least somewhat healthy.
I’ve been craving fresh cold things. Watermelon mainly. I craved watermelon with my last pregnancy too. But they aren’t in season right now, so they won’t be as good! 😭 I’m glad I haven’t started an aversion towards coffee this time. Last time it reminded me of cigarettes. And I’m a HUGE, coffee lover.
@photographerwife I was really hoping I wouldn't get a coffee aversion but I haven't been able to bring myself to even make it this week Did it stick with you the entire pregnancy? I love coffee so I'm hoping this resolves!
@tyrion_ +1 for grilled cheese sandwiches (eating one right now!). I NEVER make them at home, but that and pb&j sandwiches like my mom would make sound perfect these days.
I've also had a super ginger-y green smoothie most mornings (this is an expensive habit I need to kick). I'm less nauseous this week, but prior to that it was an easy thing for me to get on my stomach first thing in the morning.
And coffee is out for me I've been picking up a tall iced coffee (scaled back from my normal grande) every morning, but have only been drinking about 1/4 of it before pushing it aside. This morning I finally accepted I should stop ordering it and try again in a few weeks.
I'm eating all the leftovers right now! Once I am back to work after the break I will be better at eating normal food. We are still out to eat often while getting together with family for late Christmas events or visiting with friends who are in town. In general I usually crave salty snacks, but I'm wondering if that will change with this pregnancy or intensify. With my last pregnancy I had no cravings besides always wanting to drink milk.
@wednesdaygirl1019 I usually have a coffee aversion that usually lasts until about 15-16weeks.
I've been about the salty things as well, chips and salsa, wings, pasta, etc. One thing im all about this pregnancy that I've never had with the others is I want meat. All the meat. It's weird, lol.
I can’t stomach any meat right. So far it’s been bagels, eggs (sometimes), yogurt with fruit, protein shakes, oatmeal (I add egg whites for more protein) and saltine crackers.. That’s pretty much it. It’s so weird because I usually love meat but it’s a hard no right now lol I’m 7 weeks 1 day
@jovannad23 same. I’m struggling to come up with vegetarian meal ideas my husband will also enjoy (especially since I only eat like 5 bites of anything at a time). I can handle some seafood as long as I’m not the one cooking it, so that helps at least. And I’ve been able to eat a little bacon 🥓
I recently started a new type of meal planning, and it works so much better for me. I used to do the standard plan, writing a meal in for each day of the week, but then it'd get messed up when we'd eat leftovers or go out to eat or just decide we want something else or I end up not starting dinner soon enough so I need to make a faster meal.
Now, while I'm making a shopping list, I write out everything I can make (dinners) with ingredients I have on hand or what I want to make but need ingredients for, and I add those ingredients to the list. I make sure to have 5-7 meals or more. Then I shop for what I need, and I have a meal list but not assigned to any particular day. So it's easier to mix it around.
I'm meal planning and using what we have on hand so much more now! It's great!
Orange juice and buffalo wings. All day every day! Any other foods I could take or leave. I find myself absolutely nauseated at the thought of eating certain foods I was obsessed with a few weeks ago. Specifically honey mustard and avocado. Just the thought of those two foods make me gag.
I have eaten Jersey Mike’s 3 times in 4 days. I can’t get enough vinegar in my life. Give me all the pickles, banana peppers, mustard, chili relish, etc.
@jwhite3116 @ziggymama06 That's what I thought, but I just thought I'd check with you guys and make sure! I had a baby kale and beet salad beforehand, so that makes it okay too, right??? Lol
Eta That ice cream sandwich comment from the other night just sent me over the edge. <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/0r/zu8gn9d00u3y.gif" alt="" title="Image: https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/0r/zu8gn9d00u3y.gif"><img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/gk/z5a9b22mxdhb.gif" alt="">
So, I know someone whose baby was measuring small, and her midwives couldn't figure out why. They told her eat fat! Eat ice cream! Eat full fat dairy! Eat spoonfuls of coconut oil! Eat all the fatty things! To try to help the baby get all the nutrients she needed. So, maybe eating ice cream will help prevent a too small baby?
Btw, it ended up being a cord issue, which was not picked up on ultrasound. Her baby is fine.
@BusinessWife Lolol. I've had cravings for sweets the past couple of days as well. I made a little over two dozen snickerdoodles the day before yesterday, and by last night, my family and I had destroyed them. I had half a dozen cookies in one day, so it's probably good that they're out of the house now! I couldn't help myself.
I've also been having a giant bowl of sliced cucumbers with vinegar, salt, and pepper every evening. The smell of fresh cucumber is like the ultimate refreshing scent for me, and I love all things vinegar. It's hitting the spot.
I second ice cream!! I had a Wendy's frosty for lunch the other day for the first time in YEARS and I know that will not be my last Wendy's stop this pregnancy.
Also CANDY. All the Valentine's candy is out right now and I need to exhibit soooo much restraint when I'm at the store. If it's not at the house,I wont eat it, right???
I hear you on the cucumbers / vinegar @lachnessmomster I absolutely inhaled those beets last night, and legit ate a can of palmas in the car today before I left the grocery store. Don't judge me.
I'm all about the combo if fruit and cheese when pregnant. At the moment it's goats cream cheese with papaya and black pepper. I can't wait until it's watermelon season so I can have watermelon feta salad.
Funny, acidity has always seemed to bother me while pregnant. Not so much this time, but past pregnancies. Salad/salad dressings in particular always seemed to bother me. Even something like ranch, but of course, commercially made ranch always has vinegar in it, too. Most all dressings I see do.
