Re: Due Week 1: Ongoing Chatter, GTKY, etc.
inventory of the stuff we will need to refresh.
still dealing with the first trimester uncertainty and anxiety. It will be nice to have more peace of mind.
Reveals. Nope. We're waiting until the birth. I have not made a registry. Probably won't unless it's for the registry bag.
@gomillis, I already am, but yes! I look forward to feeling better and actually looking pregnant instead of heavier.
likely upgrade our house just a little to one extra bedroom and a slightly larger master and living room. If not, we’d finish our basement to have a playroom. No matter what we’d pay the mortgage off. We’d both get new cars (mine is a 2012 and his is 2003) the rest would likely be savings in a mutual funds for trips and future needs
Since I'd likely only get about half of that thanks to taxes, I'd probably pay off whatever was left of my student loans first, if anything remained at that time. Then buy the forever house with plenty of land for a vegetable garden. Anything left would go into mutual funds, and I suppose DH would probably want to take a vacation with some of it!
We are planning on finding out. We are telling our parents this upcoming weekend and then after that letting our siblings/close friends know. I was thinking of revealing on social media around Valentine's day. I'm not a fan of gender reveals so we won't do one. We haven't started a registry but I did bring DH with me to Buy Buy Baby today to look around. This is our first baby so we will have definitely have a registry.
@gomillis I can't wait for this trimester to be over! My anxiety has been horrible. We are so close!
GTKY: Are you planning on finding out baby's sex? When / how do you plan on announcing? Will you be having a gender reveal or announcing on social? Have you started a registry?
we’ve decided not to find out the sex until birth. We both told our parents around Christmas, and *close* friends. We’ll announce in person to the rest after we clear our NT scan, we aren’t on any social media so no sharing there. Also, have not started a registry yet!
NBR GTKY: I'd do a 1/3 to savings, a 1/3 to house projects, and 1/3 to a vacation fund. Love being able to take nice trips to places I've never been. Will be interesting to see how that works with a baby in the mix
GTKY: We should be finding out this week! I had my NIPT last week, so hoping to hear from my doctor later this week. I don't think we'll do a big gender reveal. I kind of want to keep the info to ourselves for a few days and then start sharing (mostly b/c I feel like I may need a moment to manage my emotions if it's a boy). I've already started my registry (using Target, Amazon, and Babylist), but mostly just to keep myself organized.
Questions: I appreciate hearing that most people are dealing with a little first trimester anxiety... helps me feel less alone. I think there is something about being so close that makes me even more eager to get through the next week and half. I think I'll feel comfortable sharing more broadly once I have the NIPT results and my next appointment (a week from today).
Does anyone have any plans to celebrate the end of the first trimester? I'm going to buy myself nice maternity leggings using a Nordstrom gift card, as well as the Ina May Gaskin's book.
I would pay off our student loan money, put a good chunk down towards a new home, and then invest the rest.
Yes we are. Hopefully we will know by the end of the week.
announce that we are pregnant and the sex on social media involving my daughter.
@gomillis I’m super excited to almost be done with the first tri. I told my husband this morning I can no longer stuck my stomach in. I’m also looking forward to seeing my belly grow day by day. I truly love being pregnant.
