Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Find out ON FRIDAY!!! Yes I’m a little excited lol
Baby is the size of a(n): mango
Upcoming appointments: midwife appt and 20 week scan on Friday
How are you feeling? Fine. I have noticed I don’t have the stamina I normally have- struggled to keep up with DH when walking around this weekend but overall feel okay. Oh also I am constantly hungry!
Raves/Rants: Rave- I found out a mom of one of DD’s school friends is pregnant and due June 9th! I’m trying to befriend so I have a maternity leave friend. Fingers crossed!
Questions: Has anyone not bought anything for the baby? I just keep thinking i have loads of time (which I guess I kind of do). And I don’t need much this time!
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live?
Least- House prices are so expensive here that we have to leave to get a property that will actually fit a family of four. Going to have a fun year or two squeezed into a 600sq foot flat! Most- there is SO much to do for kids. And most museums are free. We are spoiled for choice on weekends
@hayhay2501 I'm probably the opposite of you as I've been buying a lot of stuff. But if my DS was younger and closer to age to this one and circumstance didn't cause me to get rid of all the baby stuff I probably wouldn't be buying a lot either. I think I am just cause I need everything and am probably a bit over excited that this baby is finally happening.
EDD/weeks+days: June 21st, 18 +1 today
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pink!
Baby is the size of a(n): Artichoke
Upcoming appointments: A/S is next week! Follow up OB as well.
How are you feeling? Mostly ok. I've been getting some back aches which have caused some nausea lately though.
Raves/Rants: I've been going a little nuts buying things the last few weeks. There were some really good sales this weekend at a local consignment shop so I bought a ton of clothes. I feel like I am already nesting and it's way too early for that lol. My DS has been really cute about it too, He told me that he wants the baby to sleep in his room so he can protect her.
Questions: It's been a while since my pregnancy with DS, when have you started feeling consistent movement? I feel it some, but it's not at all consistent.
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live? I love that it's close enough to big cities for entertainment and fun getaways but it's still a nice rural/residential area to raise a family. Also the change of seasons is great here. Least is taxes are kind of high, and winters can be rough. Lot's of snow which I both love and hate.
@hanshotfirst77 I think once I have my scan Friday I’ll be pushed to buy a bit more. I always feel a bit nervous until the 20 week scan! It’s awesome you found a good consignment sale. I need to look for some of those. Also I’m just over 19 weeks and feel movement but it isn’t consistent and it isn’t really kicks. More like shifting. I can’t wait till it’s definite consistent kicks (though that brings anxiety too!).
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Anatomy scan is one week from today!
Baby is the size of a(n): Artichoke
Upcoming appointments: one week
How are you feeling? My hips kill. I got a referral to a chiropractor, I just need to see if my insurance covers anything. This baby is so low the OB thinks that’s why. Otherwise I’m ok. Hungry a lot and randomly nauseous this weekend but ok.
Raves/Rants: We close on our new house next week and I’m so ready to move, while at the same time so sad to leave our first family home. Also our house is a mess of boxes and I’ve been selling things like mad on fb marketplace to try and fund some new baby stuff.
Questions: anyone have hip pain and see a chiropractor? Did it help or did you find something else that helped?
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live? Most - low cost of living, close to family, summer is beautiful and so is fall, plenty of spots to vacation within a couple hours. Least - not very walkable, I wish there was more to do for families/kids.
Upcoming appointments: Cardiologist this Fri to make sure my BP and ticker are doing well
How are you feeling? EXHAUSTED
Raves/Rants: Rave: did my mini reveal on Sat for DH and this man almost cried--pretty sure he wiped tears off when he turned around-- My daughter got to shoot him with the confetti cannon. Rants: RL pain sucks, its not as painful but more consistent for me lately, having some sciatica pain with this pregnancy, I have never had it before and good God it is painful.
Questions: I began getting small things for baby, a blanket and a fee free welcome kits came in the mail. But I feel like I am running out of time. Not sure why but I have this sense of urgency. Any one else in the same boat or is it my anxiety?
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live? Dislike- everything housing wise is pricey. Nothing useful is relatively walking distance Like- I am close to a big portion of my family so there is always some one to visit or babysit my daughter. Being an only child(until June) this means a lot to me
Upcoming appointments: Two next week. Regular OB appointment and a followup to the AS, to get the few shots they missed.
How are you feeling? Overall pretty good. Fatigue comes and goes.
Raves/Rants: So happy to have today off. I did a ton of relaxing this weekend and it's been awesome.
Questions: None
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live? We moved to a new town a year and a half ago and I love it. Lots of farm land and mountains, but still a great sense of community. Not what I am used to growing up in the NYC area. Dislike the winter, though. Its the time of year that I wish I lived somewhere warmer.
@lizanet I feel the total opposite! I feel like I have all the time in the world. I’m already assuming I’ll go late, my OB is gone when I’m 41 weeks so i would honestly rather wait until she’s back at 42 if I haven’t had baby by then. I haven’t bought anything. Maybe nesting will kick in soon?
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: blue. Luke Abram
Baby is the size of a(n): sweet potato
Upcoming appointments: Feb 3rd for A/S and OB appt
How are you feeling? Good. The chiropractor has cured my pain baby is moving more. I finally have more energy and drive. Living the 2nd trimester good life right now.
Raves/Rants: Raves DH took DS to preschool this morning so I got to sleep in and lounge in bed on my day off..oh I love that man Rants: Why can I not find a size 34I bra. The largest I can find stops at H I have Hs they are barely containing it all. Sports bras also dont really work because I have to get a 2xl just to squeeze the girls in and they still barely fit and the band is waaaaay too big. I went from G to H with DS which never went back down and this time have gone from H to I. I dont know what I'll do if we go for 3 kiddos...Any and all suggestions accepted.
Questions: anybody else planning on making due with just a bassinet, swing, play mat, and car seat/stroller. We are soon to start building a new house which in a perfect world will be done around the time I go back from maternity leave (12weeks). I have clothes too but dont want to buy a ton if stuff and dont have the space to do a nursery where we are currently live so I'm thinking if being super minimalistic until we get to the new house. We also plan on turning DSs bed back into a crib and getting him a new bed which is another reason we would like to wait so we can just have the new bed delivered to the new house.
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live? Least: we are at least 15 minutes from everything but the public school DS will attend. There Lso isn't much close for kids to do, but there is tons of room to run around outside. Most: I dont have neighbors that are close enough to see in my house and family is close by which is super helpful since DH and I both drive 1hr each way to work. I love the small town feel and DS will go to the same school my dad, myself, and DH graduated from and that my mom works at.
@lizanet I live somewhere where housing is absurdly expensive and we have ZERO family near by. Why do I bother ahaha. I think like you I could do this longer term if it was expensive housing + lots of nearby baby sitters!
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blue! Can't wait to meet baby Z!
Baby is the size of a(n): pomegranate
Upcoming appointments: OB 21 Jan, Diabetes check-in 22 Jan, anatomy scan 30 Jan
How are you feeling? Sooooooooo snotty. 🤧 Thanks, daycare cold. But my hips are starting to hurt less as I adjust to walking 3+ miles a day, and that's great! Definitely feel like I've bumped out, too. Super proud of myself for wearing 30lbs of toddler and walking over a mile this weekend (I'll put a picture of us at the end of this). I don't know how much longer I'll be able to wear DS1 in pregnancy, but I'm excited we've made it this far.
Raves/Rants: I finally have a week of good numbers across the board in GD. My insulin dose has stayed stable for longer than a few days. I'm feeling a lot better about managing this for another 5 months. 1/6 of the way through! (Every milestone counts!) We ran into my favorite neighbor (Eric the Marine) yesterday, and DS told him about "baby brother" and then they had a dance party to celebrate in Eric's front yard. (Eric the Marine is a dad of 3 and loves kids. DS in enthralled by Eric's enthusiasm and also frequent exciting garage projects).
DH has stepped up BIG time to help share around housework and childcare stuff with me being so preoccupied with managing my GD. I haven't had to ask this time around. It's huge for my mental health. He also sits with me while I do my insulin at night rather than hiding from the scary scary needles. It's so small, but I feel better.
Rant: My estranged mom will be in town next month and has sort of backhandedly suggested through my brother that she wouldn't avoid me if I were to attend a memorial event for a family member (with whom I had a limited and unpleasant relationship). DH and I have decided that's not a door we want to open right now, especially not with so much snark and subtext, but it's been weird to think about over the weekend. Back to the original plan of telling her about the baby when she sees him on next year's Christmas card. 🤦♀️
Questions: STM+ are you having a shower? Sprinkle? My family really wants one (they like to have parties) but it feels weird to me to have a shower for a second. I guess a party is a party right?
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live? I've lived in the same county my whole life. I enjoy knowing all the locals only spots, backroads, local merchants, etc. Most of the year I love the weather, which an exception for our stupid stretch of 100+ weather around Halloween. After having DS 1, I definitely appreciate that we can play outside all year more than I used to. Cost of Living is insane here. We bought our house in the recession and would be hard pressed to size up even in our neighborhood, even with two well paying jobs (assuming I find a FT position again after baby is born).
Edit: oops! Adding the picture I mentioned. 🤦♀️ Behind a spoiler tag because this is already long enough.
@chaos-and-coffee see I know I am not going to 40 weeks(they wont let me) so that already one less week so technically even though I am 19 weeks I am half way. I also was told that the beginning I may have to go on bed rest depending on how my BP behaves. I think that whole bed rest possibility is causing me the anxiety, which is causing me to panic a little.
@ReneeJ2011 I didn't buy a ton for DS1 at first, but the stuff just sort of accumulates quickly if you aren't diligent. We did have a nursery, but didn't really use it for more than storage and diaper changes until he transitioned to his crib. We got a swing at 5mo because I needed to be able to put him down and he hated everything else.
If your area has a buy nothing group, you can usually find a ton of baby stuff there and regift it when you're done to reduce the footprint of baby stuff in the house. Or consignment stores: often you can sell back to them to recoup some $ (but more importantly space).
Aside from a bassinet, carseat, carrier or stroller, clothes, diapers, and feeding supplies, I don't think you need a ton for the very early weeks.
@lizanet I think that makes perfect sense. Last time I was a ftm who didn’t do any research other than I had a ton of friends who randomly went into labor before 40 weeks, which led me to panic and think I needed every single thing ready way too early. This time around I’m letting baby do his or her thing, pending no medical necessities that cause early induction. If I was in your position, I’m sure I would feel similar to how you do.
@kyrwyn just want to say I love your update (except about your mom, boo). I can’t imagine walking 3 miles a day or walking while babywearing right now! You’re a rockstar!
@hayhay2501 I'm the same, I haven't bought a thing for the baby yet. Well, that's not true. We bought a baby holiday onesie to match ours for the holiday announcement photo. I'm going to say that doesn't count.
EDD/weeks+days: June 11; 19w 4d
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blueeee
Baby is the size of a(n): zucchini
Upcoming appointments: Had my A/S on Friday (they do them at 19 weeks here, yay for one less week of waiting) and all looked good! Plus, they turned on the 3D feature, which we weren't going to pay for separately. Baby looked like a little alien. Hubby loved it, but I think the 3D thing is a little creepy.
How are you feeling? Tired/icky, blah. Had a couple of good days of sleep but couldn't sleep again last night. Damn you insomnia! Going to see a psychiatrist today. Hopefully he can advise me regarding what is safe to take as needed rather than towing the ALL MEDS ARE EVIL line.
Raves/Rants: I finally caved and bought a bunch of clothes on threadup. It's all been shipped and I'm excited to wear things that are comfortable again!
Questions: None
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live? Most: The SF Bay Area is beautiful and I live within 30 minutes of things that people fly miles and miles to see. I've seen and driven on the Golden Gate bridge hundreds of times, and it doesn't get old. I still always pull out my phone for a photo. Least: It's incredibly unaffordable. We have two good jobs and can't even afford to buy a 2-bed condo in a good area. It's demoralizing. Plus none of my close friends or family leave nearby, which gets lonely. With this baby, we are seriously considering a move back east in the next year. I grew up in Philadelphia and would love to move back. (DH and I enjoying our temporary home behind spoiler.)
We're on Angel Island. Alcatraz and the San Francisco skyline are in front.
@chaos-and-coffee Thanks! I desperately miss my couch potato time, but 0.5 - 1 mile post-meal makes a big difference to my glucose numbers. And I think all the walking helped with my c-section recovery last time. Bonus this time: it's usually toddler-free quiet all to myself time. ❤️
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pink (Bailey Grace)
Baby is the size of a(n): Artichoke
Upcoming appointments: I had my anatomy scan this afternoon and follow-up immediately after. Everything looks perfect!
How are you feeling? I feel great! I have had some swelling in my legs (probably due to my desk job) but I’ve got compression socks en route to my front door...thanks, Amazon!
Raves/Rants: I loved seeing our sweet girl at the anatomy scan. And I’m feeling more movement, though not yet consistent. This is such a fun stage of pregnancy. And like several of you, I haven’t bought a thing yet! At this point during my first pregnancy, I already had the crib put together and was sewing my son’s baby quilt, but I just don’t feel the urgency this time around...hope it doesn’t bite me in the ass later on!
Questions: None today
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live? I love the low cost of living and mostly mild weather. I don’t know how you northern ladies deal with snow and sub-zero temps...bring me all the sunshine and pool weather! And obviously it’s great living close to both sets of grandparents and most of my childhood friends. Small towns are always a little lacking in family-friendly activities and good food (yet no shortage of nosey busy-bodies!), but I think it’s the best possible place for us to raise our family.
Upcoming appointments: Anatomy scan on Wednesday, and then home birth visit on Friday. Very excited to make sure baby is growing everything correctly and that placenta is placed safely.
How are you feeling? More and more painful to walk, and carry the 21 lbs toddler. Ick. Heartburn ramping up. Had 4 healthy days, so I'm back to having a cold, thanks preschool.
Raves/Rants: Kids have been fighting terribly for a week-like my 16 month old has a black eye....rave-we got some yummy restaurant gift cards for Christmas and a gift for me to afford prenatal yoga starting this week. So that's at least a plus.
Questions: I kinda want to have stuff set up now, but I'm mostly out of room to get baby clothes out yet, I need it to be spring and my daughter to size up in clothes-so there's room in her closet for baby clothes. Crib just needs to be wiped down and sheets washed, I'll get new valves for my pump and new bottle nipples, just in case. but, waiting to get clothes down and swing out until at least March, and install car seats in early May, or whenever constant contractions start.
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live? Hate the weather. It's generally about 100 and humid in the summer, it's not infrequently between -15 & 15 plus 35 mph wind in the winter, and a month of solid rain/mud each for spring and fall. Midwest weather is no joke. Also, taxes are awful. What I love is being in my hometown, walking distance to a coffee shop and two ice cream places, a huge park with a pool, and we can easily bike to get most groceries. Many friends and family are within an hour drive.

Upcoming appointments Anatomy Scan Thursday
How are you feeling? Pretty good, except for recurring headaches. If I chug water it helps prevent them.
Raves/Rants: Rave- Three Day Weekend! Plus looking forward to seeing baby on Thursday. Rant-My seventeen month old woke up screaming at 4 today. No clue why other than possibly he had a bad dream. He fell back asleep but I had a hard time falling asleep. So tired.
Questions: Nope
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live? Least: Cold winters and high taxes. Also far from family. Most: Our neighborhood is quiet and the schools are great. Plus my favorite store, Trader Joe’s, is only 10 minutes away. Though our actual town has nothing but farms.
How are you feeling? Well I have the other influenza strand now (already had B three weeks ago) and it’s pretty miserable. I did get the shot too. Think first trimester haze and nausea and exhaustion but with a terrible cold too. And DD has it too. She’s been sick for almost a week now. I’m just a little bit down about it all.
Raves/Rants: this baby is kicking up a storm and then goes silent for the next day. It’s so weird. I’m trying to remember to stop and appreciate when it happens.
Questions: those of you doing all this walking, what do you do when it’s icy? Can’t get away to the gym but miss walks and don’t have a treadmill.
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live?
Like: near family and DHs Job so only a five minute commute for him. Love being in the city with a variety of things to do (although most of those are a 30 minute drive).
Dislike: these winters always last forever and get me down. I want to go outside to play and walk and do outside things.
Married: 12/19/15
BFP: 9/4/17 EDD: 5/16/18 DD born 5/10/18 Postpartum Complications
Raves/Rants: Twitching eye (posted in Jan symptoms)
Questions:
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live?
Most: for Southern California our town is affordable and we can live off one income. We have true winter (5+ feet of snow so far) and the summers are mild (we don't have A/C). All of our family is local. We're in the mountains, but just over an hour to wonderful beaches. We have clean air and no traffic lights. When I come up the last bit of hill and drop into the valley I live in, especially in early summer, it's just magical.
Least: Our town is tiny. 2,200 people in the main part of town, an additional 1-2,000 in the outlying neighborhoods, one small market, three restaurants, no gym, we have to drive 45-60 min to get to any type of market that is not $$$Small Town Market$$$. There is also no professional work locally so I commute 65 miles each way.
@alli392 the only way I can get a walk in is to go to a local rec area by my house that has a track that we can use for free. And admittedly, that’s boring, and I haven’t been doing it but my DH does. With DS I was pregnant all summer so walked every day. This time I haven’t done anything!
@hanshotfirst77 I'm 21 weeks and my little boy has become very active. I first felt, for sure, at 18 weeks. At 19 and 20 I felt him mostly when I went to bed. Since sunday he has gained some serious strength. Yesterday he kicked so hard it scared me because I wasn't expecting it 😂 I woke up in the middle of the night and he was just carrying on while I was sleeping 😊 but he is definitely most active at night.
Baby is the size of a(n): I haven't even looked yet 😬
Upcoming appointments: just had my anatomy scan last week
How are you feeling? Really good!
Raves/Rants: I transferred to a different OB and had a really great experience from where I was going. They were so kind and really cared about their patients.
Questions: How do you sleep on your side comfortably? I hate it. I wake up and my shoulder hurts and my arm is numb. The midwife said it was okay for me to sleep on my back for now. She said I'll know when I need to stop because I won't be able to breath. I am usually a stomach sleeper.
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live? I don't like living below the gnat line and the mosquitoes 😒 I love living in a rural, agricultural town. Community is everything 🥰
Upcoming appointments: Jan 31 for routine midwife, just had the anatomy scan yesterday. Baby growth was on track. Love being able to look at her cute little face in the sonogram pic.
How are you feeling? Good! DS and I had a stomach bug last week, but we're recovering/ Pregnancy-wise, nothing to complain about.
Raves/Rants: DH and I cannot decide on a baby name. We have a few favorites, but can't decide between them, and can't decide on a middle name either. We had DS named as soon as we found out we were having a boy around 9 weeks, so this is getting hard!
Questions: Anyone else doing placenta encapsulation? I did it with DS and swear it was a PPD lifesaver. Just signed up for the service again this time!
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live? Most: On the beach but close to major cities, small town, walk-ability, close to restaurants/playgrounds, family in town. Least: far commute for DH, high living costs (can't afford to buy, currently renting), cold winters, lack of reliable public transportation, over crowded. We're trying to decide if we'll move in September when our lease is up, but it's hard to move away from family (babysitters!).
For winter walking in icy nasty stuff I recommend indoor malls if you still have any, Target, IKEA, etc. Our rec centers only allow strollers a specific two hours all week. Granted not everyone needs stroller friendly of course, but I also prefer free.
@sram331 Highly recommend not only the leg pillow, but a decent size behind your back, a small one under belly (once it's big enough to appreciate support, which is early for me!), and a thick sturdy pillow for under your head. My husband is mostly a stomach, but sometimes a back sleeper, and he loves thin pillows, but inn a side sleeper, and need to tall one so that my head is being held up above my shoulder to keep from neck and shoulder pain. Even just two stacked thin pillows might work! Keeping your neck aligned with your spine is huge.

@thinkpositive2017 I did placenta encapsulation with my second. I'm not sure if it helped, but it definitely didn't hurt. I also figure it's totally worth the iron if nothing else. We'll do it again this time.

How are you feeling? Acid Reflux is in full force so starting back on my meds for that - getting bigger is definitely causing shortness of breath and me to be full much faster.
Raves/Rants: Pregnancy Pillows are the bomb - sleeping is still rough but soo much better. This pregnancy is also getting me used to drinking a lot more water so maybe it will be the start of a healthy habit.
Questions: Anyone else have really dry sinuses?
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live? Most - We have about an acre an a half so room to invite everyone over and play. Least - we have a well and sewer which is a lot more worry than being on city hookups.
Me 29 DH 33 Married 10/2016 TTC since 04/2019 BFP 10/12/2019, estimated 6 weeks EDD 06/07/2020
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live? I am near family so it's nice to be easy to see everyone. We have a lot of pretty views and the weather is mild for the most part.
Upcoming appointments: I had a phone follow up for my anatomy scan today. I have my 24 week appointment on February 7th.
How are you feeling? Pretty good. I've sort of got my heartburn under control. And Sloane seems to have moved up so it's a little easier to walk! I've also been better about eating this week so overall I'm feeling better.
Raves/Rants: Going on week 3 of Dh being out of town. I'm ready for him to be home for more than 2 days right now.
Questions: Has anyone been told they have an extra lobe on their placenta? Apparently that was discovered during my anatomy scan.
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live? This is hard. I want to move so badly right now. Most- We live within 10 minutes of the major downtown area of our city. There are all sorts of amazing children's things to do. We are 2 hours from the SF Bay Area and 2 hours from Tahoe. Least- Cost of living keeps going up. My commute, although the reverse of many is 40 minutes and it's just exhanising in the afternoon when it's closer to an hour +. Being away from our family.
We'd love to move where my Dad is in Montana but dont think Dh would find work out there.

Most- there is SO much to do for kids. And most museums are free. We are spoiled for choice on weekends

Baby is the size of a(n): Mango
Nothing useful is relatively walking distance
Like- I am close to a big portion of my family so there is always some one to visit or babysit my daughter. Being an only child(until June) this means a lot to me
Baby is the size of a(n): Endive
Baby is the size of a(n): sweet potato
Upcoming appointments: Feb 3rd for A/S and OB appt
How are you feeling? Good. The chiropractor has cured my pain baby is moving more. I finally have more energy and drive. Living the 2nd trimester good life right now.
Raves/Rants: Raves DH took DS to preschool this morning so I got to sleep in and lounge in bed on my day off..oh I love that man
Rants: Why can I not find a size 34I bra.
Edit: oops! Adding the picture I mentioned. 🤦♀️ Behind a spoiler tag because this is already long enough.
EDD/weeks+days: June 11; 19w 4d
Baby is the size of a(n): banana?

Baby is the size of a(n): Mango
Upcoming appointments: anatomy scan on Friday

How are you feeling? Pretty good
Raves/Rants: Twitching eye (posted in Jan symptoms)
Questions:
I'm a stomach sleeper too. I got a pregnancy pillow which has helped. But I still have train myself to be on my side.

How are you feeling? Good
Raves/Rants: none
Questions: none
GTKY-What do you like least and most about where you live? I am near family so it's nice to be easy to see everyone. We have a lot of pretty views and the weather is mild for the most part.
Baby is the size of a(n): Endive, paper airplane
