Re: Group 3 Check-in (May 17-24) w/o 1/20

  • EDD/weeks+days: 5/17 / 23+2

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pink!

Baby is the size of a(n): A grapefruit or a can of WD-40

Upcoming appointments: 1/27 for a repeat AS and check up.

How are you feeling? Tired today even with extra sleep. I guess I'm nesting a bit too. Started sorting through clothes from DD last night. My hips always feel better after the rest/relaxing of the weekend.

Raves/Rants: DH braved the 15°F temp this morning to organize our storage unit and set up a shelving unit while DD and I went to Target. He gets all of the gold stars for just getting baby #2 organization projects done.

Questions: How do you politely ask people to not buy clothes for baby? We saved everything from DD and really don't need any clothes. People have already told me that their excited to buy girl clothes again and I try to slip in that we saved everything. I was kind of thinking about setting up a registry just for the people who've asked already what we need...

GTKY: What’s the most ridiculous outfit you've ever worn? (Things you we're put in as a child count.) Probably the year in college I tried to dress up like a Birthday for Halloween. I had a gift bag on my head. It was both ridiculous and nightmarish.

Baby is the size of a(n): Coconut

Upcoming appointments: Wednesday, quick checkup my OB requested to make sure everything is good (see below)

How are you feeling? terrible. my 3yo got the stomach bug last wed. try as i might with the amount of handwashing & cleaning, it took 4 days but i got it saturday night. couldn't keep anything down and called my OB last night. she prescribed zofran that i could keep the tylenol down since i also had a 102 fever. ugh. i'm feeling a little better today, but still super nauseous even with the zofran. and also TMI, but im constipated on top of having the stomach bug so its like my system NEEDS everything to leave, but it can't, and now i'm just in this waiting pattern to like.... get it all out. UGGGGGH

Raves/Rants: Rant: see above. nothing to rave about until this is over.

    Questions: no

GTKY: What’s the most ridiculous outfit you've ever worn? I don't think any like "every day" outfits come to mind (although middle school sure had some doosies). Probably some sort of ruffled, sequined, dance costume from when i was younger was the most "ridiculous"
  • @mamaqdubu zofran always stops me up too. Maybe try a little apple juice?
@jrouge12 I would say something like "oh that is so nice of you to think of us, maybe you could look at our registry and see what we are sure we need"

    EDD/weeks+days: 22+1/5/24

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blue :)

Baby is the size of a(n): chocolate bar from Willy Wonka

Upcoming appointments: PT today. 2/7 for OB.

How are you feeling? After PT so much better she gave me a few different things to try but the biggest difference was in her deactivating some of my muscles and reactivating others. I can actually sit comfortably, but she wants me to come back for at least another 4 sessions because of how tense my right side is.

Raves/Rants: Nothing too much going on here, other than the heartburn that nothing pregnancy safe is touching and it doesn't matter what I eat/drink it's coming. Also DS is getting excited about the baby and wants to pick out some things for him which I think is so sweet.

    Questions: none right now

GTKY: What’s the most ridiculous outfit you've ever worn? (Things you we're put in as a child count.) I mean I was a dancer for years so I have had some ridiculously fugly costumes, also my horseback riding attire wasn't the most flattering.
  • @mamaqdubu I hope you're feeling better soon.

@mamaj1220 I'm glad PT helped! My heartburn rollercoasters, so I hope you have some relief eventually. I'll try that line. I generally ask parents what they need if I don't know about a registry. Why can't everyone!?

Dance does have the most ridiculous outfits. I didn't even think of those! 😂
  • @jrouge12 I usually ask too because I feel like everyone wants to get baby clothes for like little babies and seriously DS didn't wear some of it because there was way too much!

@mamaqdubu I'm sorry that sounds terrible. I hope things start moving and you feel better soon!

@mamaj1220 PT is the best. Glad it's been helping you!

    EDD/weeks+days: 5/18 23 weeks

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: pink!

Baby is the size of a(n): grapefruit

    Upcoming appointments: 1/30 checkup

How are you feeling? Good but definitely bigger. Noticing more back pain and bloating/swelling. Though I'm sure my poor diet and barely there exercise routine are not helping any.

Raves/Rants: I'm happy that things seem to be falling into place with this final hour relocation we've got happening. But I'm also feeling overwhelmed by all the changes coming our way and how much money we're going to be spending. Also just so much clueless FTM feels. It'll all be ok in the end. This is a season.

    Questions: too many haha

GTKY: What’s the most ridiculous outfit you've ever worn? (Things you we're put in as a child count.) I was dressed as a strawberry one year as a child. Ridiculous but also pretty adorable. I dressed myself in pretty ridiculous stuff on the regular anyway. My aunt loved to make me some killer 80s/90s sweats with like mirrors and bedazzling. She didn't have girls haha. And my various middle school phases would also probably count as ridiculous - skater, goth, emo, punk, multi colored hair, PJs, you name it.

Edit: trying to fix a tag
  • @jrouge12 sounds like you and YH are doing your own versions of nesting! I need to start finding our newborn clothes...

@mamaqdubu so sorry about the sickness! Hopefully you’re recovering today.

@mamaj1220 I’m so happy to hear that the PT went well and hopefully it continues to give you some relief! Also, that’s adorable that YS wants to pick things out for the baby

@lisush sorry for the new growth/bloating! Compression socks are great as we get closer and into the third trimester. And staying hydrated (a gallon per day) usually helps with swelling, too because it always your body to cleanse.
  • EDD/weeks+days: May 23rd / 22+3

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green:  Green

Baby is the size of a(n): half dozen bagels (yum) / hatchet head

Upcoming appointments: 1/29 for my 24 weeks check-up. Repeat AS is at the end of February

How are you feeling?  Other than the terrible hip and back pain, pretty good! I made an appointment with a chiropractor recommended by my midwife.

Raves/Rants: I had mentioned months ago that I felt like I developed a milk sensitivity during this pregnancy... I confirmed it last night. I decided to have a glass of chocolate milk and I’m still paying for it with gas, heartburn, and probably more diarrhea.

    Questions:  Not now

GTKY: What’s the most ridiculous outfit you've ever worn? (Things you we're put in as a child count.)
I have plenty, however, when I was younger I had a fur hand muff that I loved. Combine that with the miserable haircuts that my mom gave me... woof.
  • EDD/weeks+days: 22+3?

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pink

Baby is the size of a(n): Not sure

    Upcoming appointments: Feb 6

How are you feeling? Good except for sleeping

Raves/Rants: I'm really loving this new spinning bike we got. It's making me want to exercise every day which definitely helps me feel good. I don't sleep through the night anymore which sucks. I'm also stressing about money.

Questions: I know this was briefly discussed in the breast pump thread, but anyone done any significant research on the motif luna? I still have my S2 so I'm thinking about getting one of those this time around. Otherwise I'll get an S1 for $30. The Luna would be free (all the S1s offered to me through aeroflow have some sort of "extra" they make you pay for).

GTKY: What’s the most ridiculous outfit you've ever worn? (Things you we're put in as a child count.) I wore some stupid things for dress up days in high school. Clash day, etc.

Baby #3: EDD May 2023; MC October 2022

  • @catem07 Also curious about people's experience, I  went with the Luna for my insurance pump, it was free and the S1 & S2 (other top choice) were not - I'll probably get a second pump for work, figure I'll go for one of those with the buybuybaby discount at some point. All of the reviews I read about the Luna was good, so fingers crossed!

@mokay19 I hope the chiropractor brings you relief!

@lisush I'm glad the move is falling into place. You're right, everything is going to be okay!

    EDD/ Weeks + days:  5/24, 22+3

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Double pink!

Baby is the size of a(n): Coconuts

Upcoming appointments: 2/6 for the doc, but we're doing an elective 3D ultrasound this weekend with my parents, they're very excited.

How are you feeling? Pretty good. Still tired, as usual.

    Raves/Rants:

    Questions: None right now.

GTKY: What’s the most ridiculous outfit you've ever worn? (Things you we're put in as a child count.) My drill team uniform in high school was pretty intense. Cheerleading-style dress plus button-up jacket with white boots (with taps) and a velvet cowboy hat with a big plume.
  • Just checking in. Finally over this bug. went into for a checkup yesterday and everything is good!
@louessbee the velvet cowboy hat is the kicker for me... what a look!

@catem07 tell me more about the bike!! I admit I've been severely "influenced" by all the peleton "influencing" circulating recently, but just don't know if i'd use it/like it enough. Feel like i should invest in something cheaper, but i like the idea of the live workouts a lot and working out alongside people. I also, because of my pelvic floor issues, can't do a lot of other types of cardio and this seems like something i could do to the fullest extent with out causing major issues.

  • @mamaqdubu We bought a refurbished Keiser M3i which is a studio/gym quality bike (gyms usually lease them for 3-5 years and then they often get refurbished and sold). It was $900, retails for $2000 new. I use the Peloton app ($13/mo) for the live streamed classes. You can also get cheaper bikes new, like ones by Sunny Health on Amazon. We have one of those at my in-laws' house. The biggest downsides to the cheaper ones is that they might not be as adjustable (our new one has seat height, seat horizontal position, handle bar height and handlebar horizontal position adjustments) and they can be louder.

Spinning bikes in general are nice to have at home because they take up a small footprint, unlike a treadmill. I think Peloton bikes are overpriced given that you can get cheaper bikes that are just as high quality and don't require you to pay $40/mo for a streaming service.

  • @jrouge12 YH is a hero for doing anything in 15 degree weather!!

@mamaqdubu Oh no! You just can’t seem to catch a break with the illnesses and injuries! I hope you feel better soon

@mamaj1220 Glad to hear your PT is having a positive impact!!! Also in the past year I’ve heard a few people say  that apple juice helps them go, but even as a nurse who deals with a lot of poop issues, I had never considered apple juice as a constipation remedy...I usually suggest warm prune juice with a shot of milk of magnesia mixed in...we call it the bomb 😂 (To the tune of Ice Ice Baby) 🎵Got a poop problem, yo I’ll solve it🎵

@lisush I can’t even begin to imagine how stressful it is to relocate while pregnant. We’re here for you!

@mokay19 Nooooo!! How can a pregnant woman get through without ice cream?!? Lactase supplements and/or probiotics! Don’t let the dairy sensitivity get you down, must fight back! But as a fellow lactose-intolerant, I feel your pain.

@catem07 I applaud your exercise routine. Sorry to hear about the sleeping difficulties though. Maybe we should have a finance thread? It seems like having a(nother) kid is always a fiscal challenge no matter what your financial situation might be

@louessbee I hope you post pics in the ultrasound thread! That sounds like it will be a wonderful experience! I never used to like the look of 3D US but now that I’m pregnant with my own, I kind of want to see what baby’s face looks like

    EDD/weeks+days: 23+2

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blue

Baby is the size of a(n): Grapefruit, but that seems small as far as lengthwise

Upcoming appointments: Fetal heart study 2/3

How are you feeling? Pretty good except the random sharp, shooting abdominal pains

Raves/Rants: I’m normally a “it’s fine” very little worries me kind of person but yesterday I didn’t feel baby move for a while and he wasn’t responding to things that normally get him going. I tried a frozen fruit pop, lying down, putting in my belly band. No movement. So I finally decided to call the doctor at 9:30 last night and he was just the covering on call but he was so kind and reassuring and I ended up going to the L&D triage. Literally as soon as they put the monitor on, baby was flipping out. He was kicking me so hard, I could see the gown popping up. Of course then the NP at the hospital made me feel like an idiot because, you know, they don’t care much about fetal movement until 28 weeks and your anterior placenta can mask movement. Yes I’m only 23 weeks but the random sharp pains coupled with my very active baby having no movement for a while made me anxious that, I don’t know maybe I was having an abruption or something? I’ve never been pregnant before. Sharp pain doesn’t seem like a good thing and I would have never forgiven myself had there actually been something wrong. She said it was probably “growing pains.” Anyway, we were in and out in just over an hour and reassured that baby is just fine.

Questions: Not that I can think of

GTKY: What’s the most ridiculous outfit you've ever worn? (Things you we're put in as a child count.) I can’t think of anything specific, I wore a lot of ridiculous outfits by choice. I was a master of mixing Polka dots and other patterns as a young child.

  • @sunshinesea22 TAG QUEEN. Also that's a great idea! I'll start one.
    DD #1: April 2017
    DD #2: May 2020
Baby #3: EDD May 2023; MC October 2022

  • @sunshinesea22 I think the aches and pains of pregnancy can be different for different people and pregnancies, but I know for me i'm continually getting low left quadrant pain which can be super painful, especially at nighttime when my worry sensors are up. I think some of it is due to a growing belly (round ligament pains), and some of it gas and other digestive issues because our insides are all getting squished and moved around. Either way, don't let ANYONE make you feel bad about checking in on your baby! It's your BABY, and mama knows best. This sentiment goes for when they are on the outside too.
  • @sunshinesea22 agree with @catem07 you are a tag master and I bow to you lol

Sorry the triage nurse was a jerk. But glad everything is fine and that the on call doctor was helpful!
