Re: High Risk Check-In January.

  • I’m high risk due to my two previous pregnancies being pre term (32w5d, 32w0d delivered) This stage of pregnancy after AS but before viability is super nerve wracking. I’m pretty much planning on a pre term baby but I’m shooting for 28 weeks and out of micro preemie stage as my first goal. I have a ultrasound next Monday to check cervical length and that will be at 23 weeks so that will be the last official check.

  • @allywat I’m sure this isn’t super helpful but viability is getting earlier and earlier. MH works at a children’s hospital in the NICU and they’re having 23 weekers that are making it. Granted it’s also one of the top 3 children’s hospitals in the country, so that’s probably not the norm for a hospital with a level 2 NICU. Hoping and praying you make all your benchmark goals!!!
  • I have a fetal echocardiogram next week for the twins. My AS was fine, so I'm not expecting bad news. But I'll still be relieved once it's over.
  • I’ve been having cervix checks every two weeks and so far so good. I’ve also been on progesterone. I think initially it made me really irritable and bloated, but I seem to be passed that. I’m right there with you @allywat I’m basically planning for another premie. I’ve even given myself a end of March deadline to get everything ready because that’s about the point my daughter came, and we had absolutely nothing ready! I’m trying to not be so intense about it, and nesting isn’t helping! I’m driving my husband crazy!

@allywat sounds like we had similar experiences, I delivered at 31w 2d. Partial placental abruption, then when they tested my placenta they found a microscopic acreta. DD was in the NICU for 30 days. I’m so worried about having to juggle another NICU babe and a toddler. It’s sounds impossible! How did you manage?

My doc also told me that they will probably schedule me for induction if CS at 37 weeks so I shouldn’t expect to make it to my due date.
  • Had my 20 week anatomy scan and was told I either have a low lying or partial placenta previa. I have to go in around 28-30 weeks to see if it has moved. From what ive read it seems they are likely to resolve and get out of the way. If not this means a planned early c-section which I very much don’t want as I’ve delivered my other children vaginally. So right now I’m on pelvic rest and taking it a little easier.
  • @Dinlove Lurking here

But if this helps-for my second my placenta was anterior and low-lying at my anatomy scan. It entirely covered my previous internal scar and partially covered cervix. By 30 weeks it was 10 cm from cervix and 5 cm from scar, no problems, vaginal birth. I wish you the same luck!

  • @pourmeanothermocktail thanks so much! I hope so as well, it’s encouraging to hear about others whose placentas moved!
  • @Dinlove If it doesn’t move, feel free to tag me. My second is a complete previa CS baby.

I’m back here now. Weekly NST starting next week and likely steroids for baby girls lungs around 28-30 weeks. I started having regular contractions last week. I went into labor with DS1 at 30 weeks and received magnesium sulfate to stop labor. He ended up being born at 38 weeks. DS2 was born at 36 weeks. We knew it was a possibility, but I was hoping to avoid it because weekly hospital appts are a PITA with two other kids.
  • I’m also having an fetal echocardiogram next week. @ruby696 would love to know what to expect!  Also, my gestational diabetes is so much worse this time and we don’t have the insulin dose figured out yet. I haven’t seen many other GD posts yet. Feeing a bit lonely going through it so early this time. And I’m just really worried. Last time insulin/diet/exercise worked right away. This time no matter what I do/eat my fasting numbers are around 130. Anyways, if there are any other GD mamas out there, give me a shout!

@mamashem Mine is on Thursday - I'll let you know what it was like!

    ETA: fix autocorrect
  • @lfritos the second time was so much harder because of having one at home. We basically depended a lot on family, neighbors, etc. to help with watching my toddler. And I wasn’t able to spend as much time at the hospital as I had with my first son. Made for a really hard time.
  • @rox7777 I hope you don’t have anymore scares.
