  • EDD/weeks+days: July 11/ 13w2

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blue

Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: jalapeño

Upcoming appointments: NT scan tomorrow, OB on Fri

How are you feeling? Better, I think! I felt practically normal yesterday afternoon and then got super exhausted. But I appreciated the normalcy reminder.

Raves/Rants: I’m tired of the meat aversion. And I’m pretty anxious for the scan tomorrow. Our NIPT results came back totally fine so that’s reassuring but I won’t feel ok until I see our little boy squirming.

    Questions: not really

GTKY: In honor of last night's Golden Globes, what is your favorite movie/TV show from the past year? Loved Succession and Killing Eve

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out and soon hopefully, just did NIPT!

Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: Lemon? That seems crazy.

Upcoming appointments: None til February, had a good one Friday minus freaking out at the scale.

How are you feeling? Mostly good. Sprained my ankle on the 1st and it definitely still hurts/I have a small limp but I'm ok to walk around my house.

Raves/Rants: I just got bloodwork done and while I'm fine with needles, the amount of tape they put on top of the gauze was significantly more painful to get off lol. Also, I have to schedule an NT exam for like, this week apparently and if they don't have time I'm going to miss it. I'm not overly concerned because I feel like NIPT does the lion's share of the work but it's a little nerve wracking, especially because I technically don't have a prescription from my doctor (she told me to do this but didn't hand me a script so maybe it's in a system?)

    Questions: None

GTKY: In honor of last night's Golden Globes, what is your favorite movie/TV show from the past year? Gosh, so much good stuff but I love The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel the most if I have to choose.
  • EDD/weeks+days: July 14th/13 weeks tomorrow

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out at anatomy scan

Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: Lemon (tomorrow - I like to round up!)

Upcoming appointments: Had my appt with my OB this morning, which was actually my first time meeting her. I switched to this practice after I had my daughter in 2018 because they had a really good reputation, and since then I'd only seen the midwife (who I liked) and nurses. She seemed really nice and listened and didn't rush - which is exactly why I made the switch from my old place. She even did an ultrasound to check on baby, I assumed she would only do the doppler so that was a nice surprise to get a quick peek a the little one wiggling around, especially since I hadn't heard or seen him/her since 7 weeks.

@rachelredhead I know we were talking about this on the appointment thread, what time is your scan tomorrow? Mine is early afternoon. We should be sure to check in after, I hope yours goes well!

How are you feeling? Depends on the day and time of day. Headaches on and off really suck. Nausea is a little better during the day but then it flips around 6pm and I don't want to think about food at all. Trying to stack my calories during the day for now, I guess.

Raves/Rants: A rare rave from me for my husband lol... he has seemed kind of ambivalent about this pregnancy (he just started a new job, and also is just generally nervous about handling two kids, lack of sleep, how DD will react since she's a handful for him already), but recently has started acting sweet about it. Maybe me busting out the maternity pants has made it more "real" for him lol. He has started calling it cute nicknames and is excited about the ultrasound tomorrow.

    Questions: none right now!

GTKY: In honor of last night's Golden Globes, what is your favorite movie/TV show from the past year? I watched The Good Place earlier this year and had low expectations, but I loved it. It's so smart and funny. It's also silly and the episodes are short and the plot is simple so if anyone is looking for a good maternity leave show to binge, I highly recommend it!
  • EDD/weeks+days: 13w2d; July 11

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: green

Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: matchbox car

    Upcoming appointments: 1/27

How are you feeling? mostly normal, yay!

Raves/Rants: This morning was such a Monday. I got a nose bleed while I was washing my face, which turned into almost 40 mins of not getting ready b/c it wouldn't stop gushing. Then my daughter was a disaster at daycare drop off. I was 30 mins late for work because of all that. Whoops.

Questions: Am I the only one not getting a NT scan? I'm starting to wonder why my doctor doesn't do them now since it seems most people are having it done. I did get my NIPT results back today though, and all looks good!

GTKY: In honor of last night's Golden Globes, what is your favorite movie/TV show from the past year? Oh gosh, I basically don't watch any TV or movies anymore. I've got nothing.

@rachelredhead I hope your scan goes well tomorrow!

@pocketrose omg I don't know why they put so much tape on there sometimes! I remember one time in my first pregnancy that taking the tape off basically stripped a layer of my skin off (it must've been extra sticky or something), and it hurt sooo bad. You could see the mark it left for weeks!

@meanjellybean yay for YH getting more excited! :)
  • @stlbuckeye132 Given my current back and forth with the doctors office and hospital it seems likely I'm not getting an NT scan...
  • @meanjellybean my appt is first thing in the morning which means I’ll be waking up at 6 to chug water. Grooooooooss. But I’m happy to do it first thing, I’d be a waste of space at work otherwise. Good luck tomorrow!!
  • @stlbuckeye132 I'm surprised you were only 30 minutes late after all of that! That's impressive!
  • Group 1 lurker
@stlbuckeye132 I didn't get an NT scan either.
  • @stlbuckeye132 @bluguitarhannah maybe it depends on the practice or something. It seems like standard procedure for where I go now and where I went with my first. I know you can elect to not do it, but it's part of the first trimester screen (they combine your NT scan results with the blood screen results). All covered by insurance.
  • @meanjellybean thank you! I was also impressed with myself tbh. Luckily it happened on a dry shampoo day, but if it happened on a shower day, I would've been at least an hour late. "Sorry, boss! Had a nose bleed. You know, just normal things."

Re: NT scans, idk why my office doesn't do them I guess. I've never really asked, and it seems like a moot point now haha oh well.
  • @stlbuckeye132 I just heard back from the nurse at my OBGYNs office after my back and forth scheduling calls all day today that have resulted in not getting an NT scan and she was like "you're fine, we prescribe it because insurance covers it, my daughter's OBGYN doesn't ever prescribe them, the blood test is enough, etc" if that's at all helpful.
  • @pocketrose works for me! Thanks for the info.
  • EDD/weeks+days: 7/14 12+6

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pink as of today!

Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: IDK

    Upcoming appointments: Friday follow up

How are you feeling? Good after my 19 day illness finally ended-ish. Many aversions except summer rolls, cooked sushi, Vietnamese soups

Raves/Rants: bummed I can’t stand the thought of eating chili or stew.

    Questions:

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out

Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: matchbox car

Upcoming appointments: 1/28 16 week check

How are you feeling? I have good days and bad days. Some days I feel awesome (like today so far), and others I feel horrible, I didn't even know if I'd be able to make it to work yesterday without pulling over, but somehow I did. I'm hoping to have more good days going forward.

Raves/Rants: I'm telling my boss today, so that's exciting. I just want everything out in the open so I don't feel like I have this secret. I had an interesting call from the lab who did my 12 week scan yesterday, see below.

Questions: I had some genetic testing done a week ago my office calls it the first trimester screening which tests for Down Syndrome and a few others. The lab called me yesterday and said I have a 1/724 chance of having a baby with Down Syndrome, and according to their protocol they recommend the NIPT test to be done for patients who come up more than a 1/1000 chance. My insurance however considers this to be very low risk and won't cover the rest. I'm not sure what to do? Do I get the test done for peace of mind? I'm torn? Any advice is appreciated!

GTKY: In honor of last night's Golden Globes, what is your favorite movie/TV show from the past year? Fave shows are Mrs. Maisel and Big Little Lies!
  • @jmcpool88 have you talked to your doctor about paying out of pocket instead of going through insurance for the NIPT testing? My insurance wouldn't cover it either, but she told me about a number I could call that helps with  the cost and paying ourselves would be no more than $299. Still expensive, but cheaper than the alternative. If it's the MaterniT21+ test, I can share the info with you if you want it!
  • @jmcpool88 it's up to you, but I like @stlbuckeye132 's suggestion. For me personally, I would pay out of pocket to get it done. I'm getting my first trimester screen results today and if something like that comes up, I would definitely do further testing. And the NIPT is non-invasive so the only consideration is cost, as opposed to an amniocentesis or something with an element of risk. Definitely a personal preference though.
  • @jmcpool88 we did the Invitae test which was $99 out of pocket (more if using insurance). The reassurance was definitely worth it to me. Can you request a certain test and offer to just pay out of pocket? The risk really does sound quite low so I’d understand just relying on that result, too.
  • @rachelredhead only $99?! Wow, that's awesome. I wish I'd been given that option. I actually ended up calling my insurance to discuss the options for my testing, and since I got it done 12/30 and had met my max OOP for 2019, it *should* be free to me... but I'm still holding my breath over here until I actually see the claim. I'm afraid they'll find some loophole and charge me a gazillion dollars.
  • @stlbuckeye132 it was the first time I ever had a doctor say, “do not use insurance for this if you have any kind of deductible left.” And sure enough, the cost with insurance was close to $500 (which I would have paid because we just switched carriers and hadn’t met the deductible) but if I just paid without going through insurance it was $99. I just...don’t get it. But happy to get the results in less than two weeks and happy to only spend $99! Invitae is a British test, so maybe that’s why the difference in pricing is so stark. Again, no clue.
  • Thanks @stlbuckeye132 I'm going to look into it and I'll let you know!!
  • @rachelredhead thanks! I know that's why I'm torn about it, DH and I need to talk about what the right decision is for us!
  • Hello fellow July mommas!

    EDD/weeks+days: 7/13; 13wks5days

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: pink 💖

Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: jalapeno

    Upcoming appointments: 1/24

How are you feeling? Occasionally tired but mostly nothing. I haven't had much symptoms during my entire pregnancy. Such makes me nervous like, am I still pregnant??

Raves/Rants: we went through IVF after years of infertility. We only got one viable embryo through the entire process (no insurance coverage). Makes me nervous, like this is all or nothing 😩 I'm constantly googling for symptoms of MC and worrying all the time if the baby's doing okay.

Questions: how do I stop being so paranoid? 😣

GTKY: In honor of last night's Golden Globes, what is your favorite movie/TV show from the past year? Parasite. Very disturbing but engaging
