  • @hellobabys Welcome back! I think everyone gets the break and business and CERTAINLY the night time exhaustion. If I couldn't get on at work, I'd have a much harder time! That's exciting about the new job. What would your leave be at your current job if you stayed?

@kailanae So glad you are all mostly on the mend. Colds seriously can be the WORST because they last so long. We passed around a cold then blessedly short stomach bug from December 18-December 28 or so. So glad that is over... and I am so with you on starting to feel the nesting bug!

  • @kailanae Oh man, us too. DS has always been pretty much a super trooper when it comes to colds, so his biggest problem with his cold was he had trouble sleeping because he couldn't breathe, whomp. But me and DH both got pretty gnarly sick. I didn't come right out and say he wasn't allowed to take any cold medicine since I couldn't (which I never would have anyways - he needs to be healthy to take care of the kid lol), but I think he didn't out of solidarity. We went through so many tissue boxes. And DS was an August due date baby, so I didn't get any winter colds while I was pregnant with him so I was shocked at how much this cold knocked me on my ass.

@emilylove25 At my current job, I'd get 16 weeks off with 70% pay. Which I know is crazy to pass up on, but I also know I will struggle big time coming back to this company after my leave, but staying at home indefinitely is not an option.

@varimama That thought literally never crossed my mind and I have no idea why! I'll have to trial run that tomorrow! Sorry your cold is hanging on. I feel like I've been sick for a million years too.
  • @hellobabys welcome back!

@kailanae ugh all that sickness sounds terrible! I’m also starting to nest pretty hard. We moved DD into a twin bed in Nov so we could convert her toddler bed back into a crib. Over the holidays, I moved the changing table and glider up to the nursery and moved 90% of DD’s toys out (it was her playroom....oops). Now I want to paint and I can’t wait to get all the baby clothes and toys out! I’m telling myself to wait another 2-4 weeks for that though.

I went back to work today after break. I still have so much to do and feel so behind with the new semester starting. DD has been a whiny mess at times the last few days. Not making things much easier.

  • I’m starting to get the nesting bug over here, but there is pretty much nothing I can do until some other fairly big things take place. It totally sucks and it is stressing me out on many levels. I feel like I have a mile-high to-do list but I can’t get myself motivated to do much of anything because I’m so darn tired (DS won’t STTN most nights), and ah refuses to help with anything inside the home. He says it’s “my job” because he works full time. Which I think is total BS but he won’t listen to anything I have to say. I’m frustrated to say the least.
  • @hellobabys Welcome back!
@miss.sally That's super frustrating for DH to not want to help.
I've also been nesting like crazy too. I feel pretty set, especially since the baby will more than likely be in our room for the first few months.Just waiting for my sprinkle to load up on diapers, and hopefully get a gift card to cover the cost of the crib mattress.

@mrsvp614 not sure if you already know what mattress you want, but I found the best mattress deals on wayfair. Got a waterproof sealy for 75 dollars on day last week bc it was on sale.

    edit - it's 79.99 right now https://www.wayfair.com/baby-kids/pdp/sealy-baby-perfect-rest-waterproof-standard-crib-mattress-scm1102.html

  • @miss.sally that is super obnoxious of YH. I do try to do more of the house stuff in general since I'm the one home, but I've been very tired a lot of this pregnancy, so my husband has done more than I usually ask of him. He is also much more of a neat freak than me, so I think he just physically had to clean up some stuff that I have been too tired to get to. I'm sorry it's not even worth arguing about with YH. He should be going out of his way to help you out since you are carrying his baby.

Also I feel you on the stress of not being able to do stuff bc of roadblocks out of your control. We just (today) got our window shades installed for DS's big boy room and now that means we can finally move him to the big boy room. But I was at the mercy of our installer (who, understandably, took off over the holidays) and felt like I couldn't get anything moving until those were installed.

  • @miss.sally Hugs. Sounds like DH needs an attitude adjustment. My DH travels for work--but I work full time too--I have loads I could complain about with him, but if I ask him to do something around the house, he does it (when he's home obviously). That would annoy me to no end. I also have the nesting bug and no avenue for it. I keep the baby in our room at least the first 10-12 months, so I'm not bothering moving DS out of his nursery/room yet... so I just need to set up a space for the baby in our room, and I want to make it really nice, but I feel at a loss! I think I am going to start buying clothes and organizing them to at least feel somewhat accomplished?

  • @miss.sally That’s super not cool of YH. I stay home too so I do most of the inside stuff but if I need help with something he’s always willing to jump in! Especially if I’m sick and when I’m pregnant he does more than his share. He recognizes that even though he has a job in the office my “job” of taking care of DS doesn’t end at 5pm so sometimes I need help.

  • live action shot of me eating ice cream right now bc i *had to* have ice cream before i could go thru my bedtime routine, just haddd to...

  • @kagesstarshroom no shame. I eat an ice cream sandwich almost every night before bed.
  • @varimama @miss.sally Haha thanks for your solidarity. The gif was less that I feel bad about the possible weight gain/sugar and more than by that time of night I feeeeeel soooooo fulllllll haha that I am like "why am I doing this/I can't stop doing this."
  • I have also been eating a ton of ice cream! And last night H just felt like making brownies, so we had brownie sundaes.
  • Jealous of everyone enjoying ice cream. I'm vegan but I legit eat vegan ice cream 4 nights a week normally and LOVE it. But this pregnancy, I just have NO interest in sweets (rarely a cookie sounds good). It makes no sense and devastates me haha. Can't wait to get back to really enjoying sugar!

I just used my amazon completion discount to order some stuff. It says you can use the discount twice so I’ll place my second order next month to spread out the cost. We didn’t need too much except boy blankets, new changing pad, burp cloths, bouncy seat, bath tub, towels, and then breastfeeding accessories and bottles. (Things that were not reusable by third baby or that were boy specific.) I also called my insurance to find out about a breast pump and submitted an order with the seller they use. It’ll process and ship next month. Starting to feel so real! (🤣 As if my ginormous achy body wasn’t real enough).
  • lol @stassischroeder we missed you!! but so glad you got away to FL.

I've also been on the ice cream train - newest obsession is this caramel/choc swirl with vanilla from ben and jerrys

  • @emilylove25, I'm jealous of the ice cream enjoyers as well.. lol.  I wish I had your problem in not craving it!  lately I've been trying to satisfy my sweet tooth with apples/oranges or sugar free jello/pudding... but, sadly, it just isn't the same...
  • @kagesstarshroom yes, it was a great vacation! And yes, we flew. DS did really well, but traveling with a toddler is never easy even in the best of situations.
Also, I totally overdid things and pushed myself too hard because I had a mini-breakdown/panic attack yesterday. My body and brain were just FRIED, so I need to be more careful in the coming months. Also, I'll be talking to my OB about upping my dose of zoloft because how I felt yesterday is not ok.

  • Welllllll I’m in L&D. I called my midwife this morning because I had painful contractions last night that kept me awake basically all night. They weren’t timetable or anything but they’ve never woken me up before so I figured I should call. She was like “omg get here ASAP and let’s check you out.” So here I am. I came without H which I think is better because he’d just be stressing and complaining and I don’t need that right now.

I don’t think anything is actually wrong, or that I’m in active labor. But I just wanted to get checked out and make sure I’m not dilating or anything yet. This all started around 35-36 weeks with DS so this is definitely a bit earlier and I’m praying it isn’t going to continue until I have him.

    I’ll keep you posted.
  • @stassischroeder Hugs! I hate feeling that way. It's SO hard to make yourself take it easy--or at least I find it to be incredibly challenging. I hope you can do it! Take time for yourself!

  • @miss.sally OMG! I'm glad you decided to go in, and FX that it's nothing and you get to go home soon! Keep us updated!

@EmilyLove25 exactly!  I was mostly having a panic attack because I felt entirely incapable of taking care of DS (or doing much of anything, for that matter). I'm assuming I was dealing with actual, clinical exhaustion. Thank god we had enough sense to send DS to daycare yesterday.

  • @miss.sally Hope everything checks out okay and they send you home soon! Never a dull moment.
  • @stassischroeder I’m glad you had fun on your vacay!! And I’m sorry you had anxiety. I agree it is super difficult to force yourself to stop until it’s gone too far. I hope you’re able to to up your Zoloft and don’t have any more anxiety attacks. And maybe get in some rest!!
  • @miss.sally Glad things are looking ok. I feel like you and I are in a similar boat. I--no joke--had contractions until 2 AM last night. I went for a 4 mile run at 6:30, so I was expecting some. They stopped around 8, and then they started again when I got into bed (wth!). I was starting to get concerned and then they stopped... but like you, I expect this at 36 weeks. I wonder if it is just because it is our third so it's earlier?

  • @EmilyLove25 thats my guess. I did finally have a few here and she felt my belly in the middle of one (although it was small in comparison) and she said it’s time to put my feet up more and focus on my main job, which is creating a human. Lol. i think with this being the third things are just progressing and the body knows what’s up. Here’s hoping we both make it to at least 37 weeks!
  • @miss.sally Thinking of your glad you got checked out.
    @stassischroeder Welcome back!
