Nub Theory??

edited January 2020 in July 2020 Moms
Hello All,
I just had my 12wk ultrasound and wanted to test out the nub theory but I have no idea what I’m looking for. Any ideas??

Edit: I’m looking for more info on the nub theory not any specific predictions from users.

  • If you have no idea, neither do we unless anyone in here is secretly an US tech.

  • Nub theory is based on the nub part at the end. Its only really good around 12 weeks to around 14 I think. Its been a while since I really checked into the exacts since I got blood work and knew the sex before there was even a nub to speculate on. The idea is that flat nubs are girls and ones who trajectory up are boys. Its the beginning formation of the genitals. There are a lot of sites who specialize in guessing. It needs to be a clear shot though, typically baby on its back, and I don't think this one has a great nub shot if I'm honest

@enchantindragon Thank you so much for the information and your help. I opted not to find out the gender in any official capacity and was trying to do any ‘prediction’ experiments for fun (which is when I found out about the nub theory). I looked on YouTube and other various sites for more information and thought posting here would be a good option to gather specifics. I really appreciate your answer.
  • @b_1029 I am, though not secretly lol. I don’t practice nub theory though at work. Just what I know about it from the internet 🤷🏼‍♀️
  • @kristinl492 Yeah I hear most sonogram techs wont go off nubs since they can change.  This is going to be my 4th kid but my oldest is nine and I did Team Green twice already so I spent a lot of time online on all those gender guesses and such.  Nub seems like one routed in some kind of reason and logic but I can see people misinterpreting them too since they can change over time and I get why medical professionals wont guess that early based on them.  Some groups are really obsessed with analyzing them though and its a fun way to kill time til you find out.
  • @enchantindragon yeah, from what I’ve read there is some actual science behind it, so I’m sure it’s a reasonable guess. I don’t work in a department that’s strictly OB, so a lot of the pregnancies I scan are either quite late 3rd trimester or early 1st. So either way I’m not scanning too many patients that are at the nub theory stage. Now, the Ramzi theory is total crap. Don’t get me started on that one 😂. It’s fun to guess though!
