Baby is the size of a(n): Endive, dragon egg, dryer sheet box
Upcoming appointments: 1/27 for a repeat AS. Can't get here fast enough.
How are you feeling? Ok. So tired. Growing hip pains.
Raves/Rants: Took forever to fall asleep last night but actually slept the soundest in awhile. Until of course my 4:45 alarm went off, so didn't actually get enough sleep...I'm also just feeling bigger than I think I should be and blah about it.
Questions: Any other STM feel more tired than with their first?
GTKY: If you could live in any decade, what would it be and why? As long as I was rich and upper class then Victorian or Edwardian. But I like reliable vaccines so it's hard to trade those for pretty dresses.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pink (confirming Thursday )
Baby is the size of a(n): Banana
Upcoming appointments: Thursday AS & follow-up right after. I'm so nervous/excited.
How are you feeling? pretty good. heart burn slightly started. I also spent both saturday night and sunday night at events which required me sitting for a while in not comfortable chairs, so it did a number on my back.
Raves/Rants: Rant: I'm trying to find that new year motivation at work, but all I can think about is baby and it's really hard to focus. Rave: I cannot believe 20 weeks is already here. I'm seriously amazed to already be at the halfway point!
Questions: I don't think so.
GTKY: If you could live in any decade, what would it be and why? I think the 60's. My hair is out of control frizzy and thick so I feel like i would have fit right in. Also, the music!
@jrouge12 Yes to everything. Everything pops so much sooner after baby #1. Same with the relaxin in your system, it just shakes up all your joints so much earlier causing all those pains. I'm downright exhausted taking care of 2 toddlers along with my pregnant self. I remember feeling tired when i was pregnant with #1, and now look back at it and want to slap myself. Also, I would also love the Victorian era. Or whatever Downton Abbey is. The dresses were all so gorgeous!!
@mamaqdubu FX for a good scan on Thursday! I'm also amazed to be halfway! But that also comes with a bit of anxiety about the end of the school year and prepping for a sub. Thanks for the answer to my question, it makes me feel better. I keep asking myself what is wrong? I'm so tired, I don't remember the hip pain being like this with the first. Also yes to Downton Abbey!
@jrouge12 I asked my doctor if it was normal to be way more exhausted and in my more pain than the first time and she goes “yes... and honestly, it doesn’t usually get easier with more kids” haha at least she was honest!
Upcoming appointments: Drs check-in on Friday. Next scan isn't until February
How are you feeling? Pretty good! We got our repeat genetic testing back and it came back normal, so I feel like I can breathe a little.
Raves/Rants: DH has been reading to me (us) before bed, he's very concerned about them knowing his voice. It's so cute it makes it hard to focus on the story! 😍
Questions: Anybody else feeling overwhelmed by the registry and/or just deciding on stuff for baby? I'm trying to pick one topic a day to make decisions on. It's going... Okay.
GTKY: If you could live in any decade, what would it be and why? I don't think I'd like the lack of freedoms associated with the decade I'm interested in (20s), so I think I'll stay where I am!
@louessbee the registry was so overwhelming for me, I felt like they want to sell you everything but I was like well what is actually going to be useful and asking other people made it even more difficult because everyone said you needed different things.
@jrouge12 so much more tired this time around, I don't know if it is because I am older or trying to keep up with a six year old.
EDD/weeks+days: 20+1/ 5/24/2020
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Found out just a few minutes ago we are team blue again!
Baby is the size of a(n): the World's Best Boss mug from the Office
Upcoming appointments: had AS and reg appointment today, everything looks good next appointment is in Feb.
How are you feeling? Pretty good! Still tired some times, but for the most part I am doing really well.
Raves/Rants: Today is my birthday and we got to find out baby is a boy so that was fun and it was a great day. I honestly thought I would be a little disappointed in having another boy but I am so relieved as weird as that sounds, I know what to do with boys lol.
Questions:
GTKY: If you could live in any decade, what would it be and why? OHHH this is a good one, I don't really know, I love the style of things in the 50s and 60s but dont know how much I would like being a woman then or working with people with disabilities.
@mamaqdubu Good luck with the scan! Things definitely feel like they're moving quickly now. I'm not ready!
@louessbee ugh yes. I keep creating registries and then not actually adding anything because I just get too overwhelmed. Glad the new test results put you at ease!
@mamaj1220 congrats and happy birthday! That makes sense that at least you feel more prepared getting another boy.
EDD/weeks+days: 5/18 21
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: pink!
Baby is the size of a(n): bokchoy
Upcoming appointments: quick checkup tomorrow afternoon because of very minor bleeding on Saturday. Regular check up scheduled for 1/30
How are you feeling? Pretty good. Feeling her move a lot more now and I don't think the bleeding was actually anything to be concerned about but just being cautious.
Raves/Rants: MH is officially getting a promotion that will move us out of state (but back to my hometown where my parents are) in the next few months. He's very excited and I'm just so nervous and overwhelmed. I'm not sure yet if my company will be able to offer me a position in our new location, which will be a whole nother problem if I don't have a job . Not to mention finding new doctors, classes, supports. I knew this was probably coming but now it's for real. I'm trying to just stay calm and go with the flow. I have my family and everything will work out in the end even if it's stressful at first.
Questions: none right now
GTKY: If you could live in any decade, what would it be and why? Honestly I don't know that there are any that interest me. They all have their pros and cons.
@mamaqdubu our Christmas Eve mass was in the gym at my hometown parish and sitting in the bleachers was the absolute woooooorst!
@louessbee so happy that everything came back normal on the repeat testing! Also, my DH will talk to my belly sometimes and the other day he said something in a baby voice and goes "wait, come back here. I don't actually sound like that... this is my normal voice now." lol. For registry, if you go through Amazon, they have that nice checklist that breaks it down and allows you to kind of go step by step. Also, for my first, we focused on the big stuff first. Tried out different car seats and strollers and read a buuuunch of reviews online. And once all those necessities were picked out, then I moved onto the "extra" things.
@mamaj1220 I have a friend that's pregnant with her second girl and she was so relieved at the financial burden of buying new clothes and such... an added bonus that I never thought of previously!
@lisush I know moving is stressful when there are so many unknowns, but just take it one step at a time! Also, sounds like you're doing great reminding yourself of the positives to not get lost in the stress of a move.
Upcoming appointments: I have my 24 week check up at the end of this month and then I just scheduled my repeat AS for the end of February.
How are you feeling? Just sore and like I have the weakest pelvic floor alive haha. But I love that I’m feeling regular movement!
Raves/Rants: DD is almost 2.5 and she’s just not making progress potty training. I can tell that she doesn’t seem emotionally ready so I’m not forcing or pushing. But also, I’m like “come on, kid!” We’ll get there... hopefully before this baby arrives!
Questions:
GTKY: If you could live in any decade, what would it be and why? hmm.. as a female, it’s hard to imagine living in a different decade. But I agree that I would enjoy the style of the 50s/60s. However, I most likely wouldn’t have my career or family since fertility treatment wasn’t a thing.
@mokay19 potty training is the pits. DS1 it became a battle and I wish I had gone slower with him. But I was over changing diapers now look at me starting over 😂
Upcoming appointments: Was supposed to have my post-A/S appointment today but it got postponed until Friday because my doctor is sick
How are you feeling? Pretty good. Sleeping is getting worse.
Raves/Rants: Halfway there. This rant sounds stupid but I'm really missing beer since going to breweries is our big social outlet. I'd only have 1 or 2 when we went out, but it was something to do.
Questions:
GTKY: If you could live in any decade, what would it be and why? The 2010s. I'm not a fan of romanticizing prior eras (and it looks like a lot of you aren't either).
DD #1: April 2017 DD #2: May 2020 Baby #3: EDD May 2023; MC October 2022
@catem07 I’m really missing beer lately, too. I’ll have DH drink a beer with dinner just so I can have a taste. Also, DH asked me what I’m excited for over summer and I was like “drinking margaritas and having beer for the 4th!” He goes “haha I meant like camping or any vacations...?”
@lisush good luck with the move! it's definitely a PITA to get all new doctors and everything. on the plus side, if you aren't working yet you'll have more time to figure all that stuff out...
DD #1: April 2017 DD #2: May 2020 Baby #3: EDD May 2023; MC October 2022
Perhaps I should have stipulated a visit to another decade. I agree and love that all of you feel the same way about women having so many more opportunities and rights now compared to the past, but also I hope that means it just gets better for our future generations!!
@mokay19 I actually do have the weakest PF ever and dealing with the consequences isn't fun. Make sure to do lots and lots of kegals!
@lisush I hope the bleeding isn't anything to be concerned about! sometimes i will bleed a tiny bit after DTD because your cervix can be so sensitive when pregnant. Also congrats on the promotion for your family!
@m6agua I think I'm in denial that I'm :::deep breath::: 4+ years older than when I was pregnant with DD. 😭 But that's definitely I factor.
@mamaj1220 Haha! I try my best to keep up with DD, but it certainly doesn't help that she is not a sleeper and hasn't been since Day 1 in the hospital. Maybe really I'm just 4 years sleep deprived 🤷♀️
@mokay19 I like that doctor's honesty. I'm definitely in more pain/discomfort this time. I feel her move than I did with DD.
@catem07 I hear you! I'm definitely missing wine more this time than with DD. I'll probably wait to have a glass of anything until this baby is around 4 months like I did with DD too.
@lisush Congratulations to YH! It will work out and it's so much better to be near family with a baby.
@jrouge12 then you need to go on a babymoon just to sleep! That is what I am most worried worried about, mama likes her sleep and DS1 is and always has been a great night time sleeper. According to my mom myself and my brother were great night sleepers too, not great nappers (DS1 hasnt consistently napped since 2 but he was doing 12-13 hours a night so the pedi was like eh give him quiet time).
@jrouge12 I appreciate your practicality with wanting reliable vaccines over pretty dresses!
@mamaqdubu So excited for your AS and confirming team pink!!
@louessbee Yay for good test results!!! So happy for you! And I love that YH is reading to you and babies, so cute!
@mamaj1220 Happy (belated) birthday! What an awesome gift!!!
@lisush Congratulations to your husband on the promotion! I can’t even imagine having to move while pregnant, but it might be easier than moving with a newborn? I’m sure it’ll be nice to be back in your hometown. Do you still have friends there who can recommend a new OB?
@mokay19 Sorry to hear potty training isn’t going too well. I just read the chapter on potty training in Cribsheet. She says that for potty training that STARTS between 27-30 months of age, it takes between 7.5-11 months (average of 9.5mo) of intensive potty training before a toddler is fully DAYTIME trained. And it’s apparently very common for kids to prefer to poop in a diaper. Hang in there, it sounds like it’s usually a long ride, no matter what.
@catem07 I vote you take a few sips of beer! I know it’s not the same as having a full beer, but it could help to have the taste and it’s perfectly fine and safe for baby. Just no slamming 3 beers in an hour
EDD/weeks+days: 5/19, 21 weeks
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blue
Baby is the size of a(n): Endive
Upcoming appointments: Check up Thursday
How are you feeling? Okay but it’s getting uncomfortable to lean forward, like to reach for things and bend to tie shoes, so that’s fun.
Raves/Rants: Started a prenatal yoga class last night! It was good but man it was also an eye opener to how tight all my muscles are.
Questions: Not really
GTKY: If you could live in any decade, what would it be and why? When I first read the question, not many people had replied yet and when I thought about it, I felt like I would not want to go back too far because of all the things that woman couldn’t do in the past. I’m glad to see that everyone generally feels the same. I could go for early to mid 2010s, so we still have all the rights and social progress that’s been made for women, but not the daily concern for “Is today the day our president is going to get us into a nuclear war?”
@sunshinesea22 Oh I have! I make DH give me some of his sometimes. It's more the social aspect of going out to a brewery. It's less fun when you go and order 4 ounces of beer...
DD #1: April 2017 DD #2: May 2020 Baby #3: EDD May 2023; MC October 2022
@catem07 Yeah this is true. Definitely not as much fun when you can’t have a flight to try all the beer. We used to do breweries more but in my old age, my digestive system doesn’t like beer as much as my taste buds do, so we’ve mostly switched to wine tastings. Also no fun when pregnant. I’m looking forward to going to one of my favorites over the summer with baby!
@sunshinesea22 just some FB acquaintances at this point, if I get desperate haha. I have a former OB there that I'm going to reach out to and see if they can take me back on. But I don't know much about how they handle pregnancy so I want to kind of interview them still. Honestly I picked my current one off a list and ended up liking them so I think I can figure that part out. I'm more concerned about the cost of moving, finding a new place, doing some prenatal classes, etc. We will be broke before baby even arrives 😫
Re: Group 3 Check-in (May 17-24) w/o 1/6
Edit: autocorrect fun
Rave: I cannot believe 20 weeks is already here. I'm seriously amazed to already be at the halfway point!
Also, I would also love the Victorian era. Or whatever Downton Abbey is. The dresses were all so gorgeous!!
I am more exhausted this time around as well. I am chalking it up to being #2, I am not as in shape as I was with #1, and I am 3.5 years older.
- BFP: 3/10/16 — Baby Girl born 11/20/16
TTC#2 April 2019@mamaqdubu good luck on Thursday!
