What's going on this week? Not much. This is the last week before my appts start ramping up. I've been working every day except for Christmas and NY day, so I'm ready for the holidays to be over and everything to get back to normal. Work is boring when you're one of the only people present.
How far along are you? 21 weeks today.
Upcoming appointments? OB appt next Friday. Then a fetal echocardiogram on the 17th and a growth scan with my MFM on the 27th.
Cravings/Symptoms? Restless legs are starting in which is SO ANNOYING. My sciatica is going strong, too. Otherwise, I feel fine. No real cravings.
Rants/Raves/Randoms? I'm starting to freak out a little bit about how my body is going to do twins. I already feel/look like I'm 7 months and I'm only 21 weeks.
@ruby696 Ugh, the restless legs. The worst. I assume you're doing magnesium to help with that? My sciatica is also already awful this time. I can only imagine how you feel with twins! I hope you find some relief!
What's going on this week? Just about everyone is back at work today. I've been here the whole time minus the 4 days off for Christmas and New Year's. Things should start feeling normal again pretty soon! We're going to do Christmas with MH's side of the family this weekend and I'm dreading it. Especially since we "came out" about our losses in our SM announcement and I'm dreading my MIL saying something shitty about that. Hopefully she surprises me and stays quiet about it.
How far along are you? 22 weeks today!
Upcoming appointments? Not until the 20th
Cravings/Symptoms? No real cravings... Still some aversions. My sciatica is awful already and I dunno how I'll make it through 4 more months if it stays this bad. Also, I have more spider veins on my legs this time and I'm fearing I'll need laser surgery to fix them.
Rants/Raves/Randoms? I'm soooo happy to have MH back from the holiday madness that comes with being a courier. Now we just have to hunker down and get through the dark, cold, gloomy days of January-March without losing our minds.

@ruby696 Our bodies are amazing, I'm sure things will work out fine with the twins. I highly suggest this magnesium supplement that I mentioned in the symptoms thread. I just put a scoop in my cup and fill it with water, the taste is actually pleasant and slightly fruity. Like I said there, not all magnesium supplements are created equal, there are so many different kinds. Last pregnancy my doc recommended magnesium for the restless legs and constipation and I got an OTC Magnesium citrate from Costco and it did nothing for either symptom. https://www.thorne.com/products/dp/magnesium-bisglycinate @shamrocandroll I just read my weekly update and it talked about the possibility of getting those veins on your legs.
What's going on this week? Not much, DH actually has off on Sunday so I think we will try to do something as a family. Or maybe work on stuff around the house.
How far along are you? 21 weeks! It is flying by.
Upcoming appointments? Jan 24 for a regular check up. I posted on the appointments thread that I am trying to get in today for a quick check.
Cravings/Symptoms? Restless legs, my feet have grown, occasional headaches, just feeling like its a little harder to move around and get up.
Rants/Raves/Randoms? I am so glad to be done with all of the holiday craziness and just veg out and get back into routine. I really want to start nesting now. I have bins of DD's clothes that I need to go through and give to my brother and our friend for their daughters. Then we can use the empty bins to clear out the office for DD's big girl room!
@ruby696 I take these ones, plus calcium because I read that can help too. I'd check with your doctor about dosage in case you have to adjust for twins.

@ruby696 Although I just found these ones, which would combine my magnesium, calcium, and vitamin D into one pill which would be much more convenient, haha. But I think dosage depends a lot on things like your diet, so I would still double check.
@ruby696 I just take it at night with my prenatal, but now I'm wondering if I should try the kind @m6agua recommends because while it's helped a bit, I wouldn't say it's been miraculous.

I take mine at night, but not every night. Mainly when I start to feel the symptoms of my legs getting restless I get up and take some. Or if I can just tell that it will be that kind of night I will take it in the evening before symptoms start.
ETAA I do take it most nights now though. ETA The magnesium bisglycinate is good for just helping you wind down at the end of the day too.
@shamrocandroll It looks like the kind you take is magnesium oxide. The different magnesiums can help with different types of symptoms. I'm not too positive what the oxide is best for.
@ruby696 I'm amazed at how moms of multiples do it, before and after birth. Is your doctor already talking about when you might be out on bedrest or giving an estimate for how long they'll let you go? I hope the magnesium gives you some RL relief.
@shamrocandroll Enjoy Christmas this weekend and I hope your MIL will leave her comments to herself. I'm sorry about the sciatica. I don't know too much about it and I'm not sure what kind of help there is. I know a friend of mine had to go on leave a month early because hers was so bad.
@m6agua I feel the need to start digging through all the stuff we saved from DD to. Our first big project though is to get DD out of her toddler bed. We're going to get a twin bunk bed. Enjoy your Sunday no matter what you do!
What's going on this week? First day back to school! I'm actually glad to be back on a routine. I felt so tired over vacation because I don't think I was really getting tired during the day.
How far along are you? 20+5
Upcoming appointments? 1/27 for a repeat AS and check up. The repeat US couldn't get here fast enough to help put my mind at ease.
Cravings/Symptoms? No strong cravings. I said to DH I still have more aversions than cravings. Heartburn is pretty frequent but being back in school and standing should help.
Rants/Raves/Randoms? Told students today. There's a lot of changes at the school so I put my announcement at the end of everything else. Students are too cute. A lot were astonished to know I've been pregnant the whole school year. One student who's given me problems all year said she'll start being nice to me. 😂
@ruby696 The joy of government work. I’ve also been at work every day except Christmas and New Years Day. It’s super boring and I keep running out of things to do. Monday should be back to normal. I’m interested in hearing about your fetal echo. I have one scheduled for 1/21 to verify that this baby doesn’t have my heart defect. They didn’t do it with DS, so I think it’s a new thing for my OB’s office. I’ve had a ton of echos of my own heart over the years, but curious how this works with the baby still inside.
@shamrocandroll I hope your MIL doesn’t say anything dumb and you can enjoy the celebration this weekend. Sorry you have to worry about that sort of thing with her.
@m6agua I hope you’re able to get seen and everything is still great. I had an anterior placenta last time. It was so hard, because it took so long to start feeling him move regularly.
@jrouge12 Ugh, I need to work as close to my delivery day as possible, so it better not get that bad! Also, laughing at the difficult student who said she'd be nicer to you.
@mercury94 Hiiiiii friend!!! You're not lurking here! You can post in the TTGP threads anytime.

@jrouge12 No talk of bedrest and I'm hoping to avoid it.... I hope your students really do give you a break the second half of the year. I'm sure they mean it - hopefully it will last longer than a week or two!
@mercury94 I'll let you know how the echo goes. Both babies' hearts looked good at the AS, but twins are apparently more likely to be at risk of heart issues, so my MFM wanted to me get it. She did say that she wouldn't expect anything devastating to show up, or she would have seen that on at the AS. Maybe in your case they're just checking based on your history? FX we both have excellent results.
@ruby696 That’s basically what my OB said. I have a congenital heart defect. It hasn’t really caused many issues. OB says that makes me more likely to pass on a heart defect. But, everything looked fine at the A/S. I think it might also be because if the 2 vessel cord, which also increases the risk of a heart defect, but she didn’t say that. I agree that anything devastating would appear on the A/S, so I’m trying not to worry about it and to just be fascinated that they can do that instead.
@ruby696 I'm sure most will keep it up. That one girl, I'm not so sure. I actually wore a maternity shirt to school Friday (instead of my flowy, hide the bump shirt I wore when I told them) and got comment after comment "you really are pregnant!". Haha! Sorry to even mention bedrest!
@mercury94 So happy to see you here! I do my fair share of lurking on the April BMB. 😂
@shamrocandroll I have my FX to go past my due date but I know nothing really will happen the way I want it to. There is an important test I want to be in school for my kids. But the test is three days before my due date. Their faces when I said that...
