It's almost the new year and new decade! (And if you live in NZ, Aus or somewhere else over in the eastern part of the world, Happy New Year already!)

What are you looking forward to? Any parties to ring it in? Any fun or serious resolutions and goals?

  • No major plans. I don't plan to stay up late or anything. Tomorrow, we are having a family get together, but it's not specifically because of the new year, just before various people go home after the holidays. We're hosting and everyone will bring finger foods. Still trying to decide what I'll make!

Part of the reason for not staying up late tonight is because I plan to get up early tomorrow morning and shop before my husband goes to work so I don't have to take the children.

Resolutions: ugh, I could have a lot. But I never am good at keeping them. I do have a lot of goals, and I hope I can accomplish some.

    - Eat healthier and exercise. I've been terrible for so long, and I want to be able to do stuff with my children and model a healthy lifestyle for them. :(
    - Meal plan and be organized.
    - Regular cleaning schedule
    - Join groups/make more friends
    - Read my Bible daily, have daily devotions with my husband and family devotions at night.
    - Journal daily
    - Reduce the time I'm on my phone each day.
  • We are not doing anything tonight and I doubt I’ll make it to midnight given that making it to 10pm is already a challenge. But we continued a tradition we started last year of an NYE hike this morning. I feel like being in nature is a cleansing way to end the year.
Tomorrow we are going to host brunch with some dear friends. I have a feeling I’ll have a major case of the “Sunday” blues tomorrow since I go back to work the next day.
No resolutions this year. Last year I overhauled my lifestyle and started exercising regularly and eating better again after I’d been really sedentary for my son’s first two years. Planning to continue that trend and stay as active as possible throughout my pregnancy.

Staying in binge watching MadMen on Netflix.  Picked up some ice cream from the local creamery and set for the night.  Friends invited us out but not ready to share with them yet and knew it would be impossible to hide.  Had a great day with hubs of browsing the baby store and grabbing an early dinner.  Ready for the year of baby 💗

Not really a resolution, but ready to be better about what I eat and work on exercising more.  I'm off this week so I've let more slide...

@gomillis I already have the Sunday blues hardcore today thinking about having only one more day of vacay until back to work.  (I love that you call them that too!)

  • No big plans here. I’m eating hot wings and apple pie for dinner. Not sure what the rest of my family is eating 😅. If I make it we will toast the new year with orange juice. Tomorrow we are celebrating our last Christmas (thank goodness) with our close friends and then nothing. I can’t wait until this weekend when I have nothing going on. My resolution this year is to cuss less. I have a mouth that could make a sailor blush. 😬
    @psychobutthead your night sounds glorious.
  • We had flatbread pizzas for dinner. We were supposed to entertain out of town guests but since DH was so sick yesterday we canceled. Thankfully he’s feeling better tonight.
I always struggle with the new year. I can’t quite put my finger on why exactly. Probably marketing doing a good job about exercising and being your best self haha.

  • @samsonator I love your resolution to match everything with empathy. One of the most helpful things for me when my son is having a toddler moment is to try to see the situation from his perspective. It often helps us find a way to defuse the situation and calm everyone down. I find it easier said than done though!

@ziggymama06 I do too! I almost started crying at dinner tonight thinking about how I wouldn’t get to spend all day with my son anymore after tomorrow. Also, Mad Men and ice cream sounds like my perfect night!
  • @gomillis Aww... it's so tough going back, ugh.  The only thing keeping me sane is that it's only two days of work before the weekend... that and Monday morning is my first appt so I took the morning off... can't wait to see my little poppy.

  • Happy New Year!!! 🎉🎉🎉

We stayed in and actually did stay up the extra hour till midnight, made pot stickers and watched the replay of the London fireworks.  Then we watched the ball drop, smooched, and stayed up talking about our #lifegoals.  Wild night! 🤣🤣

A big one for us is going to be more reading and less screentime...  We'll see how that goes! Lol
  • We didn't make it to midnight. Kids are too little to try to keep up so they went to bed as usual. We watched Cutthroat Kitchen til 11 and then DH went to bed and I fell asleep on the couch. Wild over here 😂 My 'morning' sickness has been the worst around dinner time so I'm useless after 5pm

  • Happy new year, y'all! I didnt make it to the new year. I went to a party early while H stayed home with the kiddos, then he left after I got home.
  • Happy New Year!

I'm glad the fireworks didn't wake any of us up too badly. There were some really loud ones around the time we fell asleep at 11. I love fireworks, and I don't mind some quiet ones or hearing a little background noise, but I think you should take any big ones out of town and away from people. I think it's rude and inconsiderate to do it in a neighborhood. My youngest was making some noises at 3 am and then again between 5-7ish, so I think it must have disturbed her and affected her, even if she didn't totally wake up and cry.

And I successfully went to the store alone before my H went to work, so that was a win!
  • @gomillis That drink looks so interesting! Did you get it at a normal grocery store? I'm always looking for fun things to drink, especially being pregnant and having less options that I normally would choose from.
  • @riatortillaxo I got it at Whole Foods. I just googled it and realized you can only find it in Austin, though - sorry about that! Apparently they also have a pickle flavor.
