It's almost the new year and new decade! (And if you live in NZ, Aus or somewhere else over in the eastern part of the world, Happy New Year already!)
What are you looking forward to? Any parties to ring it in? Any fun or serious resolutions and goals?
Re: New Year/New Decade, GTKY/chat
This year I am just hoping to take care of myself during this pregnancy and enjoy the time with my family before we grow to add another member. I'd love to tighten up our budget and pay down some loans before the end of the year too.
Part of the reason for not staying up late tonight is because I plan to get up early tomorrow morning and shop before my husband goes to work so I don't have to take the children.
Resolutions: ugh, I could have a lot. But I never am good at keeping them. I do have a lot of goals, and I hope I can accomplish some.
- Eat healthier and exercise. I've been terrible for so long, and I want to be able to do stuff with my children and model a healthy lifestyle for them.
- Meal plan and be organized.
- Regular cleaning schedule
- Join groups/make more friends
- Read my Bible daily, have daily devotions with my husband and family devotions at night.
- Journal daily
- Reduce the time I'm on my phone each day.
No resolutions this year. Last year I overhauled my lifestyle and started exercising regularly and eating better again after I’d been really sedentary for my son’s first two years. Planning to continue that trend and stay as active as possible throughout my pregnancy.
My new years resolution is to match everything with empathy, especially when parenting my 3 year old (and newborn!), but also at work and with my husband. I think empathy is so important and the best way to respond to anger, sadness, and disappointment. I also want to get better at living in the moment and savoring the small things in life.

@ziggymama06 I do too! I almost started crying at dinner tonight thinking about how I wouldn’t get to spend all day with my son anymore after tomorrow. Also, Mad Men and ice cream sounds like my perfect night!

We stayed in and actually did stay up the extra hour till midnight, made pot stickers and watched the replay of the London fireworks. Then we watched the ball drop, smooched, and stayed up talking about our #lifegoals. Wild night! 🤣🤣
A big one for us is going to be more reading and less screentime... We'll see how that goes! Lol

I'm glad the fireworks didn't wake any of us up too badly. There were some really loud ones around the time we fell asleep at 11. I love fireworks, and I don't mind some quiet ones or hearing a little background noise, but I think you should take any big ones out of town and away from people. I think it's rude and inconsiderate to do it in a neighborhood. My youngest was making some noises at 3 am and then again between 5-7ish, so I think it must have disturbed her and affected her, even if she didn't totally wake up and cry.
And I successfully went to the store alone before my H went to work, so that was a win!
