Re: Group 1 Check-In (3/1-3/8) w/o 12/16

  • EDD/W+D: March 8, 28+1

    Team pink/blue/green: Green!

Baby is the size of a(n): Echidna, head of lettuce, Dorothy's slippers in the Wizard of Oz (huh?)

Cravings/Aversions/Symptoms: No cravings or aversions. And doing pretty well with symptoms too! Only some occasional mid-back pain and getting tired more quickly than usual. Also, if anyone is struggling with insomnia, the Magnesium Calm drink my OB recommended is clutch. It helps with just about everything.

Upcoming Appts: Jan 6, for F/U U/S and general check-in.

Rants/Raves: We bought a new (to us!) car this weekend! Which took approx. 6 hours. But it was actually a pretty good deal and now I no longer have to mess with old car, which had almost 200K miles, a rattling heat shield, and a habit of breaking down every couple months. We're a one-car family, so this is pretty great. Besides the time and $$$$$$$$$$$$, definitely a rave.

Questions: Did anyone get back a low result on glucose test? I've got a message out to my doctor, but I guess I had lower-than-normal blood sugar after the test. So not GD, but wasn't sure if there was a different issue. Dr. Google is not all that helpful on this one.

GTKY: What is your ONE favorite song to listen to this time of year? More album than a song -- I always play Christmas Together with Ella (Fitzgerald) and Louis (Armstrong). Best ever. And now on Spotify!

EDD/W+D: 3/1, 29+1 (though he will be here before EDD)

    Team pink/blue/green: blue 💙

Baby is the size of a(n): acorn squash or guinea pig

Cravings/Aversions/Symptoms: no cravings or aversions! Just heartburn and exhaustion at this point!

Upcoming Appts: tomorrow - 3 hour glucose test, then 12/26 for a regular appointment/growth ultrasound.

Rants/Raves: just realized I'm not having a baby shower. Trying to stay positive while having "you have no friends close by" playing over and over in my head is wearing me down. Oh well!

Questions: none that I can think of at this time!

@pdx2020 my result was super high, which is why I get to enjoy the 3 hour test tomorrow! Not much help :(. Congrats on the "new" car! That's really exciting!

GTKY: What is your ONE favorite song to listen to this time of year?  That's a tough one! I'd probably say "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday" by Wizzard. It brings me back to simpler times, when I was still a kid living in England and all family was close by!
  • @heyahelmett, FX for your glucose test redux tomorrow! Hopefully it's good news! And don't think you're the only one not having a shower. My work will probably do a small happy hour for me, but I don't think I'll do anything else before LO arrives. Honestly, haven't enjoyed being a guest at anyone's shower--too many awkward games and the small talk always devolves into parenting horror stories--, so it's not such a loss!
  • EDD/W+D: 3/7; 28+2

    Team pink/blue/green: Blue

Baby is the size of a(n): eggplant

Cravings/Aversions/Symptoms: Insomnia is starting and my ribs hurt SO bad. I feel like I have been beaten :(

Upcoming Appts: 12/27 for regular check up

Rants/Raves: I'm flying home for Christmas on Wednesday and I am very excited, but also nervous! The last time I flew (Labor Day weekend), I threw up 3 times on the plane and 3 in my parents' car once I arrived. My morning sickness is obviously way better now and I have zofran, so I'm hoping it's a much better experience.

    Questions: None!

GTKY: What is your ONE favorite song to listen to this time of year? I can't pick just one! My sister took voice lessons for years and the studio's Christmas concert was always my favorite. I love them all!
  • EDD/W+D: March 1, 29+2

    Team pink/blue/green: Pink

Baby is the size of a(n): acorn squash, 2.5 to 3.8 pounds, hard to believe

Cravings/Aversions/Symptoms: I am weirded out that cravings have really amped up for me lately, for some reason had in my head that I don't get cravings. But I made my husband pick up some peanut butter cap'n crunch and chocolate covered pretzels the other night, all junk food

Upcoming Appts: Had glucose test last week and haven't received a call, so I guess all is good there. I have a 30 week US with the perinatal specialist on 12/30

Rants/Raves: Currently in a chill mode, we got a babysitter for a dinner out and shopping spree tonight so pretty excited about that. DH and I are going to just shop for ourselves but together so it's 'from each other', so I am feeling super relieved not to have to worry about what to get him this year.

GTKY: What is your ONE favorite song to listen to this time of year? When it happens to come on the radio that plays all Christmas music, I get really giddy about the song, "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas"

@pdx2020 Congrats on the new car, so exciting!! What did you get? I love incessantly browsing cars and houses for some reason. I traded in my car that was breaking down before I had DD and it's such a relief. But now that we're moving in to three kid territory, I am back to browsing ha.

@heyahelmett Same due date, but I will also have her early for a scheduled c-section. Are you also having a c-section or inducing early? Sorry if I missed that somewhere! I'm sorry about the baby shower, @pdx2020 is right, it is a lot of work and money for a not equivalent return, but the feelings of not having one are very valid

@vrstrawn Eek, good luck on your flight!!
  • @stac4056, dang an acorn squash seems so BIG. We got an Outback (NW fav), so definitely not three kid territory! How early are you scheduling the c-section? Leap year baby??

And yes, @heyahelmett, your feelings are super valid!
  • EDD/W+D: 28 + 2, March 7th

    Team pink/blue/green: Team pink!

Baby is the size of a(n): Bratz doll... this might be the weirdest one to date  :D

Cravings/Aversions/Symptoms: Cravings & aversions are gone! Back to my old self. I have lots of aches and pains, but doctor today said as long as I'm not bleeding he's not concerned, so that was a relief! I got a prenatal massage on Friday and it was LIFE CHANGING so I'm going to see a chiropractor and have insurance cover the rest of the massages I want until the end of pregnancy. Genius suggestion from a coworker!

Upcoming Appts: Had one today and another in 2 weeks! I can't believe we're in the appointment-every-two-weeks stage! Everything was fine today, got my TDAP shot, heard baby's heartbeat, etc.

Rants/Raves: Can't stop thinking about that prenatal massage! Rant- I think I'm getting a cold

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your ONE favorite song to listen to this time of year? I love love Christmas music! No favorite in particular, though.

@pdx2020 yay for a new car!!!

@heyahelmett no shower for me either, so I feel you.

@vrstrawn good luck on the flight! Zofran is a miracle and you're right, you're farther along now so hopefully it's a smooth flight. Have fun!!
  • @stac4056 I'm being induced -- probably the week of the 17th from the sound of it! Little man is already estimated to be just over 3.5 lbs and 15" long so holding out til due date would probably be a bad idea for all!
  • D/W+D: 3/5, 28w5d

    Team pink/blue/green: GREEN

Baby is the size of a(n): eggplant?

Cravings/Aversions/Symptoms: just really hungry for anything !

Upcoming Appts: 1st high risk OB appt tomorrow for cord insertion abnormalities

Rants/Raves: my hips are killing me sleeping on my side - rave is, I’m enjoying seeing my 4 and 2 yr old soak up all the Christmas magic this year

Questions: anyone else minivan shopping ? @stac4056 were looking at the odyssey and the Pacifica for 3 kiddos !

GTKY: What is your ONE favorite song to listen to this time of year? Nat King Cole “The Christmas Song”
  • @pdx2020 I really like the look and reputation of the Outback, they seem very carseat conscious and safe, so it could be doable but probably not full practical for us sadly. My doc shoots for c-section at 39 weeks, but I think he does scheduled surgeries on Tuesdays, so my guess is 2/25 if it looks like she'll stay put that long. I don't want a leap year!!
@NTbaby17 I currently have an Acadia which you think would be spacious, but the middle row is Captain's chairs and putting a person in the third row eats up the cargo space. It's already giant to drive, so I kind of wanted to go down to a car that can do three across and still have all the back space. MY DH is against minivans, but I think they look awesome!! He'll be the one loading and removing those roof rack things if needed, ha. My four year old is way more into lights and such this year, I feel like I'm bad at the Elf on a Shelf and just Santa traditions in general, and she's getting more into questioning and noticing everything, so I will need to get it together for next year!!
@heyahelmett That sounds so big already!! Two more months, so exciting!!!!
