Baby is the size of a(n): romaine lettuce (?)

Cravings/Aversions:  So cliché but, pickles! Baby kosher dill. And cereal every night. Cracklin’ oat bran with berries and vanilla yogurt.

    Upcoming appts:  none immediately

    Rants/Raves:
Rave: I choked down the glucose screen without vomiting.
Rant: Why on earth haven’t they found a better way to do the glucose test?! It seems like a total misuse (waste) of sugar. I would gladly eat my own body weight in skittles before drinking another little lukewarm, flat sprite syrup!

    Questions

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition?
Favorite is going to Florida to visit home. It’s only become more fun with the kids. It’s hard living so far away but it makes it special to visit.

@emilyace it’s no biggie! Just make sure you don’t eat anything sugary that morning. My SIL swears she failed hers because she had Jamba Juice the same morning. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I would go light or do a protein like breakfast.
The drink is kinda gross and I felt like crap afterwards, but it’s not that bad.
i asked the lab dude how many people vomit after drinking it and he said 10-15%!

Baby is the size of a(n): lettuce?

Cravings/Aversions: All the sweets. I’ve been eating way too much sugar this week 😬

    Upcoming appts: 12/19

Rants/Raves: I’m feeling so far behind on Christmas stuff. Shopping is almost done, I think I’ll finish it off this morning with some stocking stuff stuff and hopefully something for my grandma. But I need to get packages shipped, cards mailed, and gifts wrapped! Im
    usually done by now.

Sleep is awful lately. I can’t get comfy and once I wake up to pee I’m pretty much awake for the day... today it was 3am. I sort of drift a little between then and 6:30 when DS gets up but it’s not great sleep.

Questions: Anyone else’s breasts feeling sensitive and heavy? I’ve had nipple pain since first tri but hadn’t noticed much with my actual boobs. I figured it was maybe bc stuff was already there bc my toddler still nurses but idk.

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition? I kind of like all of them! It’s so fun seeing DS actually enjoying them this year! As for new ones we did a polar express ride which was a lot of fun. It was kind of $$$ so idk if we’ll do it every year. We’ve been doing elf on the shelf since DS was born but this is the first year DS gets it. He finally named his elf and he is excited to look for him each morning! I’d like to find a place to go look at a Christmas lights too. There are a few around I just need to pick one I suppose!

Baby is the size of a(n): about 2 lbs and big enough that my cat won't stay laying me when she kicks LOL

    Cravings/Aversions: Still all things sugar

Upcoming appts: 12/17 for checkup and glucose test

Rants/Raves: I've been having trouble sleeping, too @varimama. I finally caved and took a Unisom last night and slept much better. But, I don't want that to become a regular thing.

Questions: My nipples have been ultra-sensitive and sore lately, but I'm assuming that's normal pregnancy stuff. It didn't happen last time, but I also wasn't still BFing.

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition? Uuuummmmm we don't have much for traditions. Before kids, DH and I always spent Christmas Day just the two of us, drinking mimosas, eating our body weight in decadent food, and being lazy. Now we'll have to come up with some new traditions that are kid-friendly  :D

    ____________

@emilyace last pregnancy I ate cheesy eggs and bacon before the test and passed with flying colors. I've heard its best to err on the side of caution and avoid anything too sugary or carb-heavy.

@Cristin343 ha, they haven't come up with anything better for the glucose screen because the pharmaceutical companies love being able to charge an arm and a leg for the dumb glucose drink.

@varimama my nipple pain just ramped up, big-time. I've resigned myself to wearing at least a sleep bra at all time because friction in unbearable. My actual breasts are sensitive too, but it's the nips that are killing me lately!

Baby is the size of a(n): Big bottle of Sriracha

Cravings/Aversions: Haven't had much of an appetite lately. Just eating because I have to.

Upcoming appts: Dec.17th for a check-up and tdap

Rants/Raves: Rant: Not looking forward to sitting at labcorp for 3 hrs again on Friday. I have no doubt that I will pass the glucose test but it is just super inconvenient to be doing it for the second time.

    Questions: None

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition? Christmas Brunch with my sister and nieces. We have been doing it for the past 10 years. It's only my sister and I so we are very close and she is a great cook so I look forward to it every year.

    @emilyace That's a very sweet tradition.

@Cristin343 I've never liked pickles and I was wondering if that would change with pregnancy but nope still not a fan lol

@varimama My breasts have been hurting me since the very beginning of my pregnancy. The nipple pain is awful. Feels like my entire breast is on fire. I have bought creams and even put a warm compress at times but I never really know when the pain is coming so I can't do much about it if I am at work which sucks.

@stassischroeder I can really go for a lazy day drinking mimosas and eating all the food! Sounds like a good time lol
  • @emilyace - have fun on your days off!
@cristin343, agreed, that glucose drink is gross.
@varimama, plus one to being behind on Christmas.. I haven't even put up my tree yet.
@stassischroeder, sounds like a fun christmas tradition to me!  :)
@stacey6689. boo to another glucose test.  hope this next one goes well for you.
@emilylove25, I'm also looking forward to being on leave in March. I'm so ready to be done with work at this point, I'm just suffering from some serious burnout.

@emilyace I love the idea of writing thankful letters to each other at Thanksgiving 🥰

@varimama Yes, I’ve noticed a big change in my boobs recently. Kind of like they’d feel during a period. I hope it’s not going to last the next 13 weeks because it’s super uncomfortable.

@miss.sally You are a saint! That is a huge recovery to handle, especially misinformed, pregnant, with a toddler, at Christmas. Hope he starts to feel like himself again soon, and in the meantime that you continue to get some support.

@treetop19 We’re going through something similar with my 4 year old daughter. She wants to assert her independence all the time. I try my best to empower her by giving her choices but sometimes I just need to get something done (like getting out the door and into the car) and it’s so darn frustrating. It’s made worse by the fact that it’s mostly me she acts out for, she’s much more cooperative for her dad, grandparents, and teacher.

At the same time we’re going through a sleep regression/terrible twos attitude adjustment with my 2.5 year old daughter . And I’m definitely worried about what they’ll be like in March. Really need my little sweethearts back while I manage a newborn!

    Team pink/blue/green: It’s a boy

Baby is the size of a(n):  I’ve given up on these

Cravings/Aversions: Sweets. The holiday treats everywhere are not helping.

Upcoming appts: Friday I go to the lab for my glucose test. My doctor orders the 2 hour test.  Does anyone have experience with that? I think I’ve done it all 3 pregnancies, and hated it each time, wish I could do the one hour.

Rants/Raves: I mentioned this in another post but I’m feeling super grinch-y this year. I’ve enjoyed making Christmas in our home but I’m not into the plethora of holiday-themed events going on everywhere. They’re all so crowded, and managing toddlers in those situations is difficult, plus I’m still feeling sick whenever I stand around someplace hot. So yeah, I’m the grinch and I wish everyone would stop posting pics from a different event every day. Too much pressure!

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition? I’ve always loved baking Christmas cookies with family, and that’s something my girls are enjoying helping with this year. Plus who doesn’t love cookies?
  • @miss.sally HUGS! That sounds so stressful, especially without the sleep. I’m glad you had a professional who was able to talk to DH and make him realize this is at least normal. I sure hope you don’t keep getting ordered around… because you have kids, and you are pregnant, and my god!

@momoftoddlers I hear you. Last weekend we did TWO events, and I managed… but there is NO way I could do more than that. I’m eyeing a day off work next week to get some crafts done, but I’m not going to overdo it this year. And besides, the grinch wasn’t bad after all!

@keeksie84 I’m going on 12/19 for a 28 week check up too! Should last two minutes haha. I’m so sorry about your grandma. I think that is awesome she got to know DD and DD got to know her. Sounds like DH is being fantastic. Love that for you.

  • @emilyace I love that Thanksgiving tradition! I may steal that. I honestly don’t think the glucose drink is that bad. 🤷🏻‍♀️
@varimama My sleep is crap too. It’s rough.
@stassischroeder I miss mimosas so much! 😫 I will definitely miss them on Christmas. Welch’s does a mimosa “sparkling drink.” I found it at Target and tried it this weekend. It was fun to have the taste, but of course, I miss the buzz!

Baby is the size of a(n): Bunch of bananas (which obviously varies in size)

Cravings/Aversions: Peanut butter, chocolate milk... and now I'm back to wanting buffalo chicken dip, thanks @emilyace

Upcoming appts: 28 week, with ultrasound in one week

Rants/Raves: Rant: sleep has sucked so bad. Between my toddler’s recent wake ups, DH snoring, discomfort and overall pregnancy insomnia, it’s not fun.
Also, I got my estimate for my OB office and have to pay $2100 for visits, which doesn’t include lab work, ultrasounds, or anything from the hospital. I hate our healthcare system!
Rave: I passed my glucose test! I obviously didn’t want GD, but I also didn’t want to do the 3 hour, like I did with DS1.
I’m also loving all the movement I’m feeling right now 😊

Questions: How is it possible that this baby will be in my arms in 3 months?!

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition?
It’s not really a tradition, but since we’ve had DS, we do our own thing for Christmas. I’m pretty adamant about it just being the 3 of us on Christmas morning, and having a relaxing day at home, rather than hosting or driving around to visit other family. We do “Christmas” with everyone else on a different day.

  • @mrsvp614 that drink is genius! I’m going to find some for Christmas morning!!!!
  • I used ginger beer and orange juice to make a mimosa substitute that was pretty good. Also I've found great joy in hot chocolate with peppermint extract, just be careful how much you add.

    Rant time.

I'm having a terribly stressful time now that I'm entering the home stretch. I still haven't found a good infant care solution, my husband won't sit down with me and talk about it, and therefore I haven't wanted to commit to any real maternity leave plans. I have 12 weeks and 5 days left, I need to get this shiz done and it's like no one will talk about it but me.

There's my kitchen remodel, costing me a ton of time and money, and no matter how usable I try to keep my house there's no way to even pretend to cook in these conditions when every surface we have in the house is covered in clutter from the surfaces and storage we no longer have. Starts every morning with a dose of "wtf is my life". Plus I can't concentrate on setting up a nursery because everything that was in my kitchen is in the room that will become the nursery, anything I buy for the nursery has no place to go while we clear everything out.

There's my baby shower. My sister is planning it, my mom is hosting it; DH doesn't really trust my sister to plan a party that I would enjoy and wants his mom to plan it instead. I've basically gone hands off the entire affair besides some requests for no weird poop-themed games and some input on the guest list. I want something small and chill with people I like and baked goods like my sister had. DH believes it should be a big coed affair with fancy food and a lot of fuss, like the one his childhood friend held last year. I don't mind if it's coed, but I don't want a second wedding, and frankly I worry if I get his mom involved I will no longer have a small party but a big deal with all of his family friends (whom I don't know very well at all, and trying to small talk with a dozen people I don't know sounds EXHAUSTING AS HELL).
I know I can solve this particular problem with communication and making sure all of the family including my MIL are in the loop. I'm easily pressured into saying yes to anything and the whole thing makes me want to crawl into bed and not come out.
