Cravings/Aversions: craving buffalo chicken a lot recently 😂- aversions to chicken, go figure
Upcoming appts: 12/20 for glucose screen and rogham injection
Rants/Raves: Rave that I only have one and a half weeks left of work and then I get two weeks off 🎉 I’m counting down the days
Questions: has anyone done the glucose screen (non-fasting)? How was it? Any tips?
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition? My husband and I usually pop a bottle of champagne for every holiday/special occasion (bummed to have had to not do that since July 😂). We start every Thanksgiving with a letter to each other about why we are thankful for them, can’t wait to start that when baby is old enough ☺️
Cravings/Aversions: So cliché but, pickles! Baby kosher dill. And cereal every night. Cracklin’ oat bran with berries and vanilla yogurt.
Upcoming appts: none immediately
Rants/Raves: Rave: I choked down the glucose screen without vomiting. Rant: Why on earth haven’t they found a better way to do the glucose test?! It seems like a total misuse (waste) of sugar. I would gladly eat my own body weight in skittles before drinking another little lukewarm, flat sprite syrup!
Questions:
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition? Favorite is going to Florida to visit home. It’s only become more fun with the kids. It’s hard living so far away but it makes it special to visit.
@emilyace it’s no biggie! Just make sure you don’t eat anything sugary that morning. My SIL swears she failed hers because she had Jamba Juice the same morning. 🤷🏼♀️ I would go light or do a protein like breakfast. The drink is kinda gross and I felt like crap afterwards, but it’s not that bad. i asked the lab dude how many people vomit after drinking it and he said 10-15%!
Cravings/Aversions: All the sweets. I’ve been eating way too much sugar this week 😬
Upcoming appts: 12/19
Rants/Raves: I’m feeling so far behind on Christmas stuff. Shopping is almost done, I think I’ll finish it off this morning with some stocking stuff stuff and hopefully something for my grandma. But I need to get packages shipped, cards mailed, and gifts wrapped! Im usually done by now.
Sleep is awful lately. I can’t get comfy and once I wake up to pee I’m pretty much awake for the day... today it was 3am. I sort of drift a little between then and 6:30 when DS gets up but it’s not great sleep.
Questions: Anyone else’s breasts feeling sensitive and heavy? I’ve had nipple pain since first tri but hadn’t noticed much with my actual boobs. I figured it was maybe bc stuff was already there bc my toddler still nurses but idk.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition? I kind of like all of them! It’s so fun seeing DS actually enjoying them this year! As for new ones we did a polar express ride which was a lot of fun. It was kind of $$$ so idk if we’ll do it every year. We’ve been doing elf on the shelf since DS was born but this is the first year DS gets it. He finally named his elf and he is excited to look for him each morning! I’d like to find a place to go look at a Christmas lights too. There are a few around I just need to pick one I suppose!

Baby is the size of a(n): about 2 lbs and big enough that my cat won't stay laying me when she kicks LOL
Cravings/Aversions: Still all things sugar
Upcoming appts: 12/17 for checkup and glucose test
Rants/Raves: I've been having trouble sleeping, too @varimama. I finally caved and took a Unisom last night and slept much better. But, I don't want that to become a regular thing.
Questions: My nipples have been ultra-sensitive and sore lately, but I'm assuming that's normal pregnancy stuff. It didn't happen last time, but I also wasn't still BFing.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition? Uuuummmmm we don't have much for traditions. Before kids, DH and I always spent Christmas Day just the two of us, drinking mimosas, eating our body weight in decadent food, and being lazy. Now we'll have to come up with some new traditions that are kid-friendly
____________
@emilyace last pregnancy I ate cheesy eggs and bacon before the test and passed with flying colors. I've heard its best to err on the side of caution and avoid anything too sugary or carb-heavy.
@Cristin343 ha, they haven't come up with anything better for the glucose screen because the pharmaceutical companies love being able to charge an arm and a leg for the dumb glucose drink.
@varimama my nipple pain just ramped up, big-time. I've resigned myself to wearing at least a sleep bra at all time because friction in unbearable. My actual breasts are sensitive too, but it's the nips that are killing me lately!
Cravings/Aversions: Haven't had much of an appetite lately. Just eating because I have to.
Upcoming appts: Dec.17th for a check-up and tdap
Rants/Raves: Rant: Not looking forward to sitting at labcorp for 3 hrs again on Friday. I have no doubt that I will pass the glucose test but it is just super inconvenient to be doing it for the second time.
Questions: None
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition? Christmas Brunch with my sister and nieces. We have been doing it for the past 10 years. It's only my sister and I so we are very close and she is a great cook so I look forward to it every year.
@Cristin343 I've never liked pickles and I was wondering if that would change with pregnancy but nope still not a fan lol
@varimama My breasts have been hurting me since the very beginning of my pregnancy. The nipple pain is awful. Feels like my entire breast is on fire. I have bought creams and even put a warm compress at times but I never really know when the pain is coming so I can't do much about it if I am at work which sucks.
@stassischroeder I can really go for a lazy day drinking mimosas and eating all the food! Sounds like a good time lol
Baby is the size of a(n): Slow Loris, which is SO cute!
Cravings/Aversions: My mom makes this really good vegan chilli. I’ve
wanted that a bunch lately, but that’s about it…
Upcoming appts: I am doing the glucose test Saturday morning and
super pointless 28 week appointment on 12/19… but I turned it into a day off
work, so?
Rants/Raves: RAVE: My acid reflux was starting around Thanksgiving
but has subsided. I hate that part of pregnancy so much, so the longer I can
put it off, the better. AND our treadmill gets delivered/assembled this
Saturday! Another RAVE: I love that I won't be at work March-the end of May. Sorry, y'all and good luck lol lol.
Questions: Is it Friday yet?
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new
traditions with your new addition? Oh man, I like it all. We go to our zoo’s
festival of lights each year, and we did that Sunday. SO fun. But I just love
Xmas day for no great reasons. Presents at our house with the kids and then we
go (two doors down) to my parents house and camp out there all day with a few
breaks. It’s quiet and lovely. We do crafts the week before and a gingerbread
house on Xmas Eve. I love it all. Nothing new with the new one, but having
him/her there will be AMAZING.
@emilyace Counting down the days here too…
lol. And I did the glucose screen with both my pregnancies before this. Super
easy.
@varimama I love that you are really craving
sweets now after going so long not wanting them!
@stassischroeder LOL to your cat comment. Mine
oddly seem to enjoy the kicks. I have had MAJOR nipple soreness too especially
when cold. Eww.
@stacey6689 That IS super annoying having to
sit there again!
Cravings/Aversions: Nothing new on the cravings front.
Upcoming appts: Regular check-up plus glucose screen on Dec 16.
Rants/Raves: Rant, DS has been acting up like crazy lately, which is making our house a stressful place to be. I think it just 'clicked' with him that he can assert his independence, but yikes.. if you tell him to do one thing, he'll side-eye you and purposely do just the opposite, then wait to see if you notice and deliver up any consequences. of course, I know consistency is key, so I've tried to stay on top of the time-outs. it gets pretty tiring though. Rave, I can't believe how fast time has been flying by. At this rate, LO will be here before I know it. I've been trying to savor her evening kicking sessions when I can (she is always very active right before I go to bed) ... I know I will miss that part of pregnancy once she's here.
Questions: None at the moment...
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition? I like baking and decorating sugar cookies with DD, and driving around looking at lights on Christmas eve - both traditions we'll keep. DS might get in on the cookie decorating more this year, he was too little last year. One tradition I absolutely love - DH dresses up as Santa on Chrismas morning and wakes up the kids to see their presents. We really fooled DD with this when she was little, she thought Santa really came to our house - until one year, she noticed the Santa suit in the basement. She asked me," Why did Santa leave his clothes here?" I told her Santa needed to change clothes and he must have forgotten them... but she didn't really buy it. lol. Of course she's known 'Santa' is her dad for several years now, but she still enjoys it. And DS still doesn't know.
@stacey6689. boo to another glucose test. hope this next one goes well for you.
@emilylove25, I'm also looking forward to being on leave in March. I'm so ready to be done with work at this point, I'm just suffering from some serious burnout.
Cravings/Aversions: Cookies (because I can't bake right now and really want to) and also, soup (because I have a terrible cold)
Upcoming appts: Just measurement appointments from here on out, I think
Rants/Raves: Passed my glucose test - Yay!
Questions: I'm getting weird menstrual cramp feelings lately. It seems from responses on this forum that this is not what BH feels like? Maybe I just have indigestion.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition? I really enjoy decorating the tree and having lights up and all that. Hopefully I have a kid who enjoys the shiny holiday stuff as much as I do. I also have a series of recipes that I like to bake but unfortunately our kitchen remodel is going to prevent any of that this year.
EDD/W+D: 27 weeks omg. Hellooooooo THIRD TRI! Ahhhhhh what?!
Team pink/blue/green: blue
Baby is the size of a(n): a size 12 men’s shoe?! Lol
Cravings/Aversions: I cannot even tell you how badly I NEED a chocolate frosty from Wendy’s.
Upcoming appts: midwife and OB next week. I’ll decide then which one to continue care with! Eek!
Rants/Raves: H had his total hip replacement surgery yesterday and I need to vent. It may be long. So for the last few months all we have been told is how great he will do and how it’ll be no big deal and he will heal so fast and be up and walking in no time. He got to go home same-day, which is a first for this hospital/surgeon. They said he’d be a great candidate since he’s an athlete and so in-shape, etc... H has been all gung-ho about it and went along with everything the Dr said. So last night when he’s in excruciating pain, and this morning when his whole leg is slightly swollen, he starts totally freaking out that something has gone terribly wrong, because nobody ever told him that this is normal. Thank HEAVENS for the home-care physical therapist because she came over at 9am just as we were close to calling the surgeons office, and basically said “Uhhhh. DUH! Of course you’re in severe pain and swollen. You literally had all of your muscles cut in half, a piece of your bone taken out, and a whole new joint put in your body. This is MAJOR dude!” She made us both feel so much better and it made me so freaking angry with the doctors for not giving us a heads up that the first few weeks were going to be awful. I/we felt so blindsided by all of it and I am so thankful for the PT. She stayed for over two hours and just talked about everything and it was so good. She said multiple times that she can’t believe they send people home same-day after such a major surgery and when she first started 15 years ago they stayed 3 weeks in the hospital. How insane is that?! It also didn’t help that I hadn’t slept in 24 hours and H was ordering me around last night because he was in pain and freaked out so I was having breakdowns because I’m pregnant and tired and emotional. Blah. But today has been a whole heck of a lot better and I think I need to get the PT a gift at the end of our time with her.
Questions: I don’t think so.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition? I don’t know what my favorite is? Probably baking cookies and cakes. I love decorating so I always have a blast with it. Also Christmas morning in general is just so special when you have kids.
———————————————————
@emilyace that is such a cute Thanksgiving tradition! Love that.
@varimama my boobs definitely feel swollen and heavy and sensitive. They’ve grown a fair amount in the last month for sure.
@stacey6689 I have to take the 3 hour also. Wah. Not looking forward to that. Let us know how it goes!
@EmilyLove25 yay for your Treadmill! I used mine more before pregnancy, but it’s so nice to have for a quick workout when you can fit it in. Can not wait to get back to it post-baby.
@mauvelousone I’ve felt those menstrual cramps also actually. I think it’s just the ute stretching and making room for the growing baby. My OB didn’t seem concerned. I’ve also been getting a ton of BH contractions and they definitely feel different.
@emilyace I love the idea of writing thankful letters to each other at Thanksgiving 🥰
@varimama Yes, I’ve noticed a big change in my boobs recently. Kind of like they’d feel during a period. I hope it’s not going to last the next 13 weeks because it’s super uncomfortable.
@miss.sally You are a saint! That is a huge recovery to handle, especially misinformed, pregnant, with a toddler, at Christmas. Hope he starts to feel like himself again soon, and in the meantime that you continue to get some support.
@treetop19 We’re going through something similar with my 4 year old daughter. She wants to assert her independence all the time. I try my best to empower her by giving her choices but sometimes I just need to get something done (like getting out the door and into the car) and it’s so darn frustrating. It’s made worse by the fact that it’s mostly me she acts out for, she’s much more cooperative for her dad, grandparents, and teacher.
At the same time we’re going through a sleep regression/terrible twos attitude adjustment with my 2.5 year old daughter . And I’m definitely worried about what they’ll be like in March. Really need my little sweethearts back while I manage a newborn!
Cravings/Aversions: Sweets. The holiday treats everywhere are not helping.
Upcoming appts: Friday I go to the lab for my glucose test. My doctor orders the 2 hour test. Does anyone have experience with that? I think I’ve done it all 3 pregnancies, and hated it each time, wish I could do the one hour.
Rants/Raves: I mentioned this in another post but I’m feeling super grinch-y this year. I’ve enjoyed making Christmas in our home but I’m not into the plethora of holiday-themed events going on everywhere. They’re all so crowded, and managing toddlers in those situations is difficult, plus I’m still feeling sick whenever I stand around someplace hot. So yeah, I’m the grinch and I wish everyone would stop posting pics from a different event every day. Too much pressure!
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition? I’ve always loved baking Christmas cookies with family, and that’s something my girls are enjoying helping with this year. Plus who doesn’t love cookies?
Cravings/Aversions: still sweets, specifically cookies. I went to Trader Joe's last night which was a mistake!
Upcoming appts: 12/19 for a 28 week check up
Rants/Raves: my grandma passed away yesterday. We were able to be with her when it happened. She'd been declining for a long time and she took a nose dive this week. I'm really sad, but also relieved that she's no longer suffering. I'm really thankful that she got to know DD, who was her first great grandchild. DH reminded me of all the ways he sees her in me last night which made me feel really, really good.
Questions: not at this time
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition? I also love Christmas day with my parents. Before I was married, I'd go over early in the morning for breakfast and stay all day in my jammies. Now we have to drive to 3 houses so it's less relaxing. I'm really excited for DD to be able to open presents this year!
@emilyace and @stassischroeder I've totally been craving champagne for some reason and your posts aren't helping!! I might have to have a tiny sip if someone opens a bottle. 🍾 @cristin343 I'm currently waiting for my blood draw for my glucose test and feeling your pain! @varimama sorry you're not sleeping well! That makes anything else in the day so much harder. @stacey6689 that sounds like such a cute and fun tradition! @EmilyLove25 I'm also a huge fan of Christmas day! I wish we could just stay at my parents, but now we have to go to my in laws too which is fun but tiring. @treetop19 your husband as Santa sounds so so CUTE! @mauvelousone yay for passing your glucose test! Have you checked in with your doc about the cramps? I always default to calling in...they're probably sick of hearing from me but always say that calling is the right thing to do. @miss.sally your story sounds like a nightmare! I can't believe they sent him home so soon! Sending good vibes to you all for a speedy recovery from this MAJOR SURGERY! @momoftoddlers I'm doing my one hour right now. The lab tech said that they've gone back and forth between all combos of fasting and not fasting 1 and 2 hour tests. I lucked out because they used to do a blood draw before and after the test, but I only have to get poked once this time.
@miss.sally HUGS! That
sounds so stressful, especially without the sleep. I’m glad you had a
professional who was able to talk to DH and make him realize this is at least
normal. I sure hope you don’t keep getting ordered around… because you have
kids, and you are pregnant, and my god!
@momoftoddlers I hear
you. Last weekend we did TWO events, and I managed… but there is NO way I could
do more than that. I’m eyeing a day off work next week to get some crafts done,
but I’m not going to overdo it this year. And besides, the grinch wasn’t bad
after all!
@keeksie84 I’m going
on 12/19 for a 28 week check up too! Should last two minutes haha. I’m so sorry
about your grandma. I think that is awesome she got to know DD and DD got to
know her. Sounds like DH is being fantastic. Love that for you.
@stassischroeder I miss mimosas so much! 😫 I will definitely miss them on Christmas. Welch’s does a mimosa “sparkling drink.” I found it at Target and tried it this weekend. It was fun to have the taste, but of course, I miss the buzz!

Baby is the size of a(n): Bunch of bananas (which obviously varies in size)
Cravings/Aversions: Peanut butter, chocolate milk... and now I'm back to wanting buffalo chicken dip, thanks @emilyace!
Upcoming appts: 28 week, with ultrasound in one week
Rants/Raves: Rant: sleep has sucked so bad. Between my toddler’s recent wake ups, DH snoring, discomfort and overall pregnancy insomnia, it’s not fun.
Also, I got my estimate for my OB office and have to pay $2100 for visits, which doesn’t include lab work, ultrasounds, or anything from the hospital. I hate our healthcare system!
Rave: I passed my glucose test! I obviously didn’t want GD, but I also didn’t want to do the 3 hour, like I did with DS1.
I’m also loving all the movement I’m feeling right now 😊
Questions: How is it possible that this baby will be in my arms in 3 months?!
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition? It’s not really a tradition, but since we’ve had DS, we do our own thing for Christmas. I’m pretty adamant about it just being the 3 of us on Christmas morning, and having a relaxing day at home, rather than hosting or driving around to visit other family. We do “Christmas” with everyone else on a different day.
I used ginger beer and orange juice to make a mimosa substitute that was pretty good. Also I've found great joy in hot chocolate with peppermint extract, just be careful how much you add.
Rant time.
I'm having a terribly stressful time now that I'm entering the home stretch. I still haven't found a good infant care solution, my husband won't sit down with me and talk about it, and therefore I haven't wanted to commit to any real maternity leave plans. I have 12 weeks and 5 days left, I need to get this shiz done and it's like no one will talk about it but me.
There's my kitchen remodel, costing me a ton of time and money, and no matter how usable I try to keep my house there's no way to even pretend to cook in these conditions when every surface we have in the house is covered in clutter from the surfaces and storage we no longer have. Starts every morning with a dose of "wtf is my life". Plus I can't concentrate on setting up a nursery because everything that was in my kitchen is in the room that will become the nursery, anything I buy for the nursery has no place to go while we clear everything out.
There's my baby shower. My sister is planning it, my mom is hosting it; DH doesn't really trust my sister to plan a party that I would enjoy and wants his mom to plan it instead. I've basically gone hands off the entire affair besides some requests for no weird poop-themed games and some input on the guest list. I want something small and chill with people I like and baked goods like my sister had. DH believes it should be a big coed affair with fancy food and a lot of fuss, like the one his childhood friend held last year. I don't mind if it's coed, but I don't want a second wedding, and frankly I worry if I get his mom involved I will no longer have a small party but a big deal with all of his family friends (whom I don't know very well at all, and trying to small talk with a dozen people I don't know sounds EXHAUSTING AS HELL).
I know I can solve this particular problem with communication and making sure all of the family including my MIL are in the loop. I'm easily pressured into saying yes to anything and the whole thing makes me want to crawl into bed and not come out.

@emilyace Counting down the days here too… lol. And I did the glucose screen with both my pregnancies before this. Super easy.
@varimama I love that you are really craving sweets now after going so long not wanting them!
@stassischroeder LOL to your cat comment. Mine oddly seem to enjoy the kicks. I have had MAJOR nipple soreness too especially when cold. Eww.
@stacey6689 That IS super annoying having to sit there again!

Baby is the size of a(n): cauliflower

Baby is the size of a(n): Kleenex box
Cravings/Aversions: Cookies (because I can't bake right now and really want to) and also, soup (because I have a terrible cold)
Upcoming appts: Just measurement appointments from here on out, I think
Questions: I'm getting weird menstrual cramp feelings lately. It seems from responses on this forum that this is not what BH feels like? Maybe I just have indigestion.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition? Will you be starting any new traditions with your new addition? I really enjoy decorating the tree and having lights up and all that. Hopefully I have a kid who enjoys the shiny holiday stuff as much as I do. I also have a series of recipes that I like to bake but unfortunately our kitchen remodel is going to prevent any of that this year.

@emilyace that is such a cute Thanksgiving tradition! Love that.
@varimama Yes, I’ve noticed a big change in my boobs recently. Kind of like they’d feel during a period. I hope it’s not going to last the next 13 weeks because it’s super uncomfortable.
Team pink/blue/green: It’s a boy
Baby is the size of a(n): I’ve given up on these
Cravings/Aversions: Sweets.
@emilyace and @stassischroeder I've totally been craving champagne for some reason and your posts aren't helping!! I might have to have a tiny sip if someone opens a bottle. 🍾
@cristin343 I'm currently waiting for my blood draw for my glucose test and feeling your pain!
@miss.sally HUGS! That sounds so stressful, especially without the sleep. I’m glad you had a professional who was able to talk to DH and make him realize this is at least normal. I sure hope you don’t keep getting ordered around… because you have kids, and you are pregnant, and my god!
@momoftoddlers I hear you. Last weekend we did TWO events, and I managed… but there is NO way I could do more than that. I’m eyeing a day off work next week to get some crafts done, but I’m not going to overdo it this year. And besides, the grinch wasn’t bad after all!
@keeksie84 I’m going on 12/19 for a 28 week check up too! Should last two minutes haha. I’m so sorry about your grandma. I think that is awesome she got to know DD and DD got to know her. Sounds like DH is being fantastic. Love that for you.
