Re: Group 2 (July 8-16) Check-In: w/o 12/9

  • EDD/weeks+days: July 11, 9w2

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): pecan

    Upcoming appointments: Wed check up

How are you feeling? Pretty good, finally on the other side of this cold. I still get tired easy, kinda intermittent nausea/heartburn, but overall feeling better and less hungover

Raves/Rants: we’re house hunting and we found a house we loved but the location isn’t what we want. Grrrrrrr. Hoping for a bump in inventory in the new year.

    Questions: none really

GTKY: What’s the dumbest way you've been injured? I took NyQuil a few years ago while sick. Stood up in the middle of the night and promptly passed out, injuring my neck in the fall. I gave myself whiplash with NyQuil. Had to have physical therapy, etc. 🤪

  • EDD/weeks+days: July 11; 9w2d

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: team green

Baby is the size of a(n): cherry

Upcoming appointments: not so patiently waiting for 12/30

How are you feeling? tired and lazy. I feel like I've been so worthless lately. I'm just so worn out all the time.

Raves/Rants: Only two more weeks of work and then I'm off for the rest of the year! I can do it!

Questions: Who have you guys told about being pregnant? So far only our parents know (and everyone here I guess haha), but I'm eager to tell more people! We're planning on telling our siblings on Christmas and then extended family will find out through the New Years card we're doing this year instead of a Christmas card.

GTKY: What’s the dumbest way you've been injured? The summer before I went into 4th grade, I was at my friend's house and we were riding bikes around her driveway with a sprinkle in the middle. Her cat decided to run in front of me, I swerved, fell off the bike, and broke my wrist. Whoops.
  • EDD/weeks+days: July 14th/8 weeks 6 days

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: we were team green with our first, I kind of want to find out at the anatomy scan this time, but my husband said fine we will find out and not tell anyone (I can't do that!!)

Baby is the size of a(n): wild strawberry (until tomorrow!)

Upcoming appointments: December 19th nurse appt. I have a different OB provider than my first and apparently they take a lot more time/actually care what you have to say so I'm excited about this one.

How are you feeling? Pretty crappy, just so tired and nauseous, but I can eat, so that's a plus.

Raves/Rants: Regular pants are starting to get super uncomfortable.

Questions: Anyone else peeing a lot at night already? I'm up several times a night at this point, and then wake up in the morning having to pee. Feels like the last month of my first pregnancy. Hoping it chills out a bit in second trimester?

GTKY: What’s the dumbest way you've been injured? When I was like 6, I was jumping on the bed with a neighbor friend. My dad came in and told us not to. So obviously, we kept doing it. We had a contest to see who could jump the highest and do a karate kick in the air and land on the ground. So I jumped, kicked, landed funny and broke my foot. I don't think my dad has ever said "I told you so" but he definitely told me so lol.

@rachelredhead we are going to be house-hunting in the new year as well! It's exciting and scary at the same time, and the overall timing gives me anxiety. Do you guys have to sell your house too? I'm honestly more worried about that part, our old-ass house is in pretty rough shape and we've been there for ten years basically putting off projects forever.

@stlbuckeye132 I have been much more loose-lipped this time lol. Last time I was so paranoid about telling people. I think I felt like I would jinx myself. Didn't tell family until around 10 weeks, and didn't tell work until after my 12 week scan and NIPT came back. This time, I texted my two best friends after I got a positive test, told my two bosses last week at 8 weeks, and would have already told family except my husband is going a grouch about it lol.
  • @meanjellybean we’re actually in good shape in terms of selling our house. It’s a small (890 sq ft) bungalow, perfect little starter house, in a fun neighborhood. Our realtor is very confident we won’t have trouble selling just because the inventory for starter houses is so small. So fingers crossed he’s right! I’m more stressed about finding a house we like in a location we like that’s in our price range. But since I bought our current house as a single lady, it’s fun to house shop with DH this time!
  • EDD/weeks+days: 9w2d (july 11th)

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out!

Baby is the size of a(n): green olive/cherry/weighs as much as a penny

Upcoming appointments: 12/31 i have 12wk US--cant wait! i must see baby again!!

How are you feeling? tired and overall blah.  sometimes the blah turns into nausea and sometimes it is just steady blah-ness

Raves/Rants: had bloodwork drawn at apt last week on Thursday and saw results online, but no HCG reading?!? i was frantically looking through everything and its just not listed.  so i just left a VM asking if they measured it--i assume they would since they did everything else under the sun?

Questions: none at the moment :)

GTKY: What’s the dumbest way you've been injured? i actually have never been injured (feverishly knocks on wood).  just lucky!
  • replying to my own message.  OB just called back and said once they confirm the pregnancy with the US, they dont test HcG anymore...which i guess im glad theyre confident but i almost wanted to see what it was to make sure its still trending correctly.  Someone tell me i am overthinking this!!
  • @asf0613 I think it’s kinda great they don’t test HCG after a certain point. After all, it does start to level out and stop increasing much. So I think I’d just be glad to hear that, from their perspective on your US, there’s no more reason to run HCG because everything was looking great! I understand being greedy for data though, anything to reassure the anxiety.
  • @rachelredhead I'm glad you're getting over your cold! Good luck with the house search! I bet more listings pop up after the holidays.

@meanjellybean I'm sorry, but I'm dying picturing this mid-air karate chop with the bad landing. :joy:

@asf0613 I totally understand wanting to see more data, but I would try to take it as a good sign that they don't see a need to test HCG and assume all is progressing as it should. Your 12/31 ultrasound will be here before you know it!
  • Hi everyone, today is a lot and is soggy and so's my attitude but here goes:

    EDD/weeks+days: 9 weeks

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding Oit

Baby is the size of a(n): Cherry

Upcoming appointments: Maybe tomorrow for first ultrasound if the two doctors offices literally nextdoor learn to communicate (and then first real appointment with new obgyn/midwife is Jan 2)

How are you feeling? Deeply annoyed today but physically mostly fine.

Raves/Rants: RANT SO CRANKY. So I get a call this morning from the ultrasound folks saying I need a prescription for the ultrasound. I then call the obgyn practice and ask them to do this today. At this point I've been back and forth between the two of them half a dozen times to try and get this coordinated but at this point I'm kind of like fuck it, I'll go tomorrow and if I have to pay $120 so be it/will get it fixed for next time I'm so annoyed.

Questions: Really just any advice on how to get health care providers in a large hospital system in a large city to suck less.

GTKY: What’s the dumbest way you've been injured?  I broke my arm by tripping over a dog.

  • @pocketrose ugh that is so annoying! Re: the crankiness, I'm 9 weeks today and my app says this is peak cranky time, so you're not alone lol.
  • @pocketrose omg that sounds super frustrating. Let us know if you ended up getting the US today! I hope so!
  • @stlbuckeye132 I did end up getting it (after a $120 copay and a future potential fight with insurance that H will handle as he's a lawyer and also an expert with insurance :s) and all looks good. Now I have to figure out if I can get NIPT done before my first appointment with my new provider given that it'll be 12.5 weeks at my appointment and that's stuff I'd like to know ASAP vs further along in the process.
  • EDD/weeks+days: 7/10 / 9w1d

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): cherry

Upcoming appointments: January 3rd, seems so far away...

How are you feeling? extra tired and lots of nausea, I just got the flu so... today I feel like a zombie at work

Raves/Rants: still haven't decided were to spend Christmas with, my family or his.... things will get interesting there and I am so not patient...

Questions: where is that pregnancy glow everybody talks about?

GTKY: What’s the dumbest way you've been injured? I can't remember anything other than falling down the stairs on Christmas eve a long time ago... I just slipped, it was weird....
  • @pocketrose well I'm glad everything looked great on your US, but sorry about the copay and future fight with insurance. Insurance companies truly are the worst.

@mayisch still waiting for that pregnancy glow here too!
  • @mayisch @stlbuckeye132 same!!!!
i just started using a new skincare regimen from Belli skincare to help with this insane acne and dry skin im getting.  brand specifically formulated to be safe for pregnancy.

so fingers crossed i start getting my glow soon!!! i will report back!
  • @mayisch @stlbuckeye132 @asf0613 no glow here either. Mostly just an ashen gray with a couple of red spots because even though I have dry skin, I'm also randomly getting pimples here and there. Joy!
  • @meanjellybean @asf0613 @stlbuckeye132 yes!!! dry skin and pimples.... I thought it was just me because sometimes I'm so lazy and don't remove make up
  • EDD/weeks+days: July 14th, 9 weeks

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): cherry

Upcoming appointments: 12/12 appointment to check in with doc and discuss questions, genetic testing, etc.

How are you feeling? Kind of rough. I'm still able to get through the work day pretty well, thankfully but once I get home I'm usually a mess. Nauseous, fatigued, the works, I feel so useless. Sometimes it's even hard to sleep I'm so nauseous. My friend recommended eating oatmeal or something light before bed and that seems to be helping a bit.

Raves/Rants: I feel way worse this pregnancy than last. I know all pregnancies are different but I was so blessed last time and now feel like it's so hard to just get through normal things in the evening, especially trying to keep up with my almost 3 year old.

Questions: When are you all telling work? I'm trying to wait as long as I can, but I feel like I'm starting to show already.

GTKY: What’s the dumbest way you've been injured? Thankfully I haven't had many injuries, but I did get injured my junior year of hs warming up at track practice. I turned my foot, realized I had an extra bone and it's never been the same.
  • @rachelredhead I'm glad you're feeling better! And good luck with the house hunting !
  • @stlbuckeye132 I'm feeling the same way, it's rough. I'm hoping to feel better in the next few weeks. I'd like to be able to do some light workouts, but by the time I'm home from work I'm done. We told my parents, sisters and a few close friends, waiting to tell everyone else until around 13 weeks!
  • @meanjellybean I agree about the pants. Do you think you'll do maternity pants soon or do the rubber band trick? I'd love to be team green, but feel like I couldn't do it, it seems so exciting though !
  • @asf0613 it's definitely a good thing that they don't test for HCG anymore! But I completely understand feeling the way you do, I feel like I'm going to be anxious until 20 weeks!

    Hi all,

    EDD/weeks+days: July 11th, 9w/3d

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): cherry

Upcoming appointments: 12/20 follow up and viability scan (see below)

How are you feeling? I’m OK. Physically I’ve been OK. Symptoms are pretty much limited to fatigue, sore boobs, light headaches, and general achiness, but thankfully no nausea. However, I did have brown spotting start a couple weeks ago. And that has been really worrisome. My midwife wasn’t worried about it, and said it sounded normal (no cramps or other symptoms and always very light). But it went on for a couple weeks, so last week they had me come in for another ultrasound just for peace of mind. The baby looks good, heartbeat of 178, and measuring right on track. But after the scan the midwife called to tell me that the gestational sack was measuring smaller than the baby. By almost 2 weeks. She said that we just have to wait and see at my next appointment. She said that sometimes these things just resolve themselves and the sac will catch up, but it also puts me at a much higher risk for miscarriage. So they scheduled a viability scan for 12/20. That’s a scary term. So emotionally, I’ve been better. Feeling very scared and anxious and just trying to stay positive. It’s funny because some days I wake up feeling really positive and strong, and some days I just want to cry all day. Or scream and break something (these hormones are serious business). The good news is that so far I don’t have any scary symptoms and the brown spotting that they say is unrelated is going away. Or seems to be for now.

Raves/Rants: The first trimester is the worst! You don’t look pregnant but you feel crappy and the worry is intense.  And most people don’t know or can’t even tell that anything is going on with you. We told our family and close friends immediately, but it’s been really hard going through this and trying to work and stay focused on anything else. The first trimester feels like a full-time job these days.

Questions: Anybody else been through anything similar and had it all turn out OK?

GTKY: My favorite part about the holidays is decorating the tree with my husband. We always watch Scrooged, which is one of our favorite Bill Murray movies, and decorate the tree together. I also just love the downtime with family and the break from work. Comfy sweaters, wool socks, my couch, and old movies.

Thankful for this community. Best of luck and love to all you mamas.

Hi again, that’s my post directly above. I think I fixed my profile to get rid of the “knottie” profiled name. Feel free to reply to this post.
    Thank you!
  • @jmcpool88 I'm also hoping to delay telling work as long as possible. I think last time I told them around 16 weeks. I definitely at least want to wait until after getting NIPT results this time, but hoping it's not obvious for awhile still...

@katbirdy ugh that sounds really stressful. I'm sorry you're going through that! I don't have any experience, but I'm really hoping everything is fine with baby and this next week and a half until your scan goes by quickly for you.
  • @katbirdy hoping the next few days fly by so you get to dec 20th that much sooner! and welcome to the due on 7/11 club! (since i dont think i saw you post previously)

also, i second your notion about first trimester being a FT job-one that is like a secret FT job on top of my regular FT job!!
  • @jmcpool88 I already told my boss and my other boss. I work very closely with them and just haven't been myself and have been feeling all around awful so I told them. My one boss was like yeah I already knew lol. That was at 8 weeks. Last time around I didn't tell anyone at work until after my 12 week scan and NIPT came back. I would have preferred that this time, but I'm just struggling and feel better that they know. I think it just depends on the situation. I plan to tell other people at work in the new year when I'm past 12 weeks. I'll definitely be in maternity clothes at that point womp womp.

@katbirdy I'm so sorry you're going through that. Really hoping that everything looks good at your next scan. It's hard enough being exhausted and emotional in first tri even without having all of that worry on top of it! Please take care of yourself.

  • EDD/weeks+days: July 14 by LMP/ July 16 by U/S

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out on Dec. 31

Baby is the size of a(n): not sure

Upcoming appointments: genetic testing is NYE and I don’t have another until Jan. 10

How are you feeling? Not many symptoms but I was absolutely shocked when I saw a baby exactly where it should be with a 172 heart rate today.

Raves/Rants: I can actually accept that I am pregnant at this point.

    Questions: none

GTKY: What’s the dumbest way you've been injured? When I was pregnant I opened my cabinet and it fell off the wall and gave me a black eye.
