TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ball game. Diagnosis (if you've been): endometrial polyp

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Benched until after surgery. I’ll be able to schedule it after the HSG.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) HSG this week, waiting to hear back from scheduler

How are things going?: The RE office got back to me on Friday about my question to clarify her comment about TTA. She said that their recommendation in these instances is to avoid contraception. I didn’t even tell DH until last night because I didn’t want to think about it during the long weekend. It was kind of nice to get to slowly get used to the idea without really having to face it so I’m doing okay with the news.

So that’s fine, and we are going to TTA per her recommendation, but I find it very odd that she is acting like this is their routine recommendation but nothing about that was said until I brought the subject up when she asked if we had “any other questions” at the end of my appt. I think that’s a huge flaw in their protocol of not going over any results until all of the testing is done, clearly there was too much to talk about that she skipped over a very important thing. I know I’m probably redirecting my anger and trying to find a way to place “blame” but it really is annoying.

Any questions? The provider I see at the RE office is a PA not a physician. Can a PA remove a polyp? I’m ready to be done with her and I’m hoping this is my way out.

GTKY: We do an artificial tree. It’s pre lit so we just add ornaments. They are a mix of ones from when we were kids and then we usually get an ornament when we visit a new place. I guess we will have to try to get one in the bahamas next week!

Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained secondary IF

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW - one week to go!

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): 7.5 letrozole, Trigger, IUI and progesterone.

How are things going?: Pretty good, actually! Last week flew by and I feel like this will be a quick week too. So far I haven’t gone crazy with SS, which is a nice feeling, and I’ve had no side effects to the progesterone!
Overall, I feel rather relaxed this cycle, which is good, but at the same time my hopes aren’t really high. I guess I have an “whatever happens, happens” outlook this time around. I’m catching a cold though, so that sucks 😝

@bows22 It’s frustrating when they act like we know / should know things or just forget / omit information. Hope things are more clear moving forward.

@bows22 you’re benched now?? I’m sorry, friend, but it does sound like that’s the best option at this moment, and I’m just happy you finally got a solid answer about it. You’re right, there was too much for them to go over in your follow up that they clearly missed some of the BIG details that should have been talked about. How else are you to know? Thankfully you knew what questions to ask. Also, our trees sound very similar! I have a lot from my childhood too! Our tree WAS prelit but the lights died and I didn’t want to splurge on a new tree just yet, so I’ve been adding our own lights to it. Works just as well!

Actually, I do have a question for my fellow progesterone ladies...

In the shower this morning I was “cleaning out” some of the leftover progesterone that did not get absorbed (@inthewoods23 was that you that suggested scooping it out? Or was it @keikilove? Either way, thank you for that suggestion but also 😝)... anyway, while I was doing that I noticed it was rather difficult to even get a finger in... like the entry felt swollen or closed off... is that typical on progesterone?

@kpearse99 ugh yes I’m benched. I never said anything when she sent the message back on Friday because admitting it would have made it real haha. I needed to process it first but I’m doing okay now. I’m not happy about it but it is what it is I guess. I’ve been thinking about you though! I am glad you are feeling good (TTC wise at least). Our trees do sound similar! Ours died a few years ago and we got a really nice one on sale the day after Christmas!

@NYTino24 that’s exciting that your temp is high! When is beta?

@kpearse99 - Yay for a quick week! I love your tree!! I didn't clean out the progesterone so I'm not sure!

@NYTino24 - I also love how easy the fake trees are to put up! And it makes for much easier storage!

How are things going?: I stopped birth control on Friday and I still haven't gotten a bleed, so I'm in limbo just waiting for that. Starting to get a little nervous because I'm going away this weekend for my sister's bachelorette and I'll be damned if I have to drive back on Saturday to have bloodwork done. AF needs to show up today or not till Wednesday.

One is white and gold, one is red and silver, and the one on the porch just has lights. @bows22 I feel like my clinic misses details too when they're spouting out so much information. It's sad how much we have to question something just to find out oh yeah, don't do that thing. Like why not say that in the beginning if it's that important??

@kpearse99 I love having a TWW during holiday periods because those days go by so fast! And no, I don't think that was me about the progesterone. Maybe it was? I don't think I typically would dig in there, but I would do more of an exterior cleaning. After showers I'd put in a fresh liner to catch the remaining.

How are things going?: well, see the holiday thread for my wild story from Saturday/Sunday. But today I'm feeling good! But that could be because we checked out some hedgehogs at a breeder yesterday and now those cute boys are on my mind.

Ours is fake. Somehow that was an easy sell to DH when his family has always done real trees. We don't do lights as I wasn't sure how my cat would be as she sometimes wants to nibble on our phone charging cords. Tree gets decorated with just ornaments. I didn't even set up the tree last year but feels good to this year. Turns out we have a medium sized tote bin full of weird ornaments that I don't want up on our tree and the bin of the good ornaments is a small tote bin that's a little larger than a shoe box 😆

@bows22 I totally understand taking time to yourself to process it all. It’s big news and certainly takes time to comprehend. I’m sorry 😔 but I am also glad you’re at peace with it now. We will be getting a new tree right after Christmas this year too... fully plan on taking advantage of that tree sale!

@feather_heather what a beautiful tree!!! I love that our pups sleep next to it!! I wish our house was big enough to have more than one tree!’ I can barely find room for this one and it’s skinny!

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IVF info session/counselling tomorrow, urology appointment end of January

How are things going?: Things are okay.. getting used to the idea there isn’t much we can do right now until we see the urologist. It’s just hard being back to waiting.. I’m so ready to just move ahead with treatment already, but I know that this is for the best if we can find a way to optimize DH count first.

Diagnosis (if you've been): PCOS

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): More bloodwork hopefully by my MD as recommended by my naturopath!

How are things going?: well it sucks to have PCOS but also a relief to have a diagnosis. I am still trying to process it and what I should be doing to help myself

Any questions?: from the info I’ve gathered diet and lifestyle are main things to help with your PCOS which is probably why I’ve Been ovulating because I work out and eat healthy already! But now I’m going to try and alter my diet to be PCOS friendly! Anyone else try diet modifications for PCOS?

It’s actually my parents old and first fake tree they had haha and I love it. It’s a little crooked but nice and green and fluffy and I do tradition green and red (and a lot of buffalo plaid) decorations!

@misshelen86 I know how badly you want to get started with the next steps of treatment but you and YH are doing everything right and focusing on what needs to be done first, which is all you can do right now. ♥️

@tryingktogku does that theory include a stuffy nose and startings if a sore throat?! Haha I wasn’t around much this past weekend but I did see your post. I’m sorry you’ve found yourself here and for the PCOS diagnoses, but like you said, it’s good to at least have a diagnosis so you can get a plan in place!

@misshelen86 I found personally, that knowing we were doing everything in our power at that time, gave me a lot of peace. We can only control so much. Hope you are able to improve the count some with the urologist though.

@tryingktogku I am sorry about the PCOS, but like you said, having a diagnosis gives some relief. I have heard good things from people that have seen naturopaths, hoping for good results for you too.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IVF

How are things going?: Egg retrieval was on Sunday. Mostly smoothly, other than the incision on one side of the vaginal wall was a bleeder, so they ended up putting a couple stitches in. I am definitely feeling like the recovery this time is taking a little longer. A bit more sore and cramping.
Last time we got 12 eggs, 10 fertilized. This time we got 18 eggs, 16 were mature and all 16 fertilized! I am extremely happy either those numbers. We will get another update tomorrow and then not again until Friday. Feels like such a long wait.......

We do a real tree. We generally go out and cut it down ourselves too. Take the pup and make a trip out of it. Ornaments is just whatever goes. We have a few special ones, but most are just items that we have collected over the years.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Au naturel this cycle. Feeling a bit sad that I’ve been traveling a lot for work & we’ve had to fit in what we can in between my flights . I think we only got as close as -2 and that today is O day while I’m on the road, but only temps will tell... (I tried to force him to give it to me once more before my flight & I was going to use a cup for the first time to hold it in to avoid a mess as I ran to my flight. But alas, he couldn’t perform under that crazy pressure!😆)

How are things going?: Up & down. Lots of doubtful thoughts since the last cycle. Trying to maintain positivity but having a hard time blocking out thoughts of all that we are up against.

Any questions?: Who was it that told @kpearse99 to scoop out the progesterone? 😄 I remember that advice too but can’t remember who it was.

I’ve never had a tree in my whole adult life until last year! I always flew home for Christmas & decorated my mom’s tree with my siblings. Now that I have a DH he insisted we needed our own tree last year. Always live, filling the house with that gorgeous scent. This year DH wants to get a fake. I will miss the smell of the real thing. We decorate with old-fashioned ornaments I’ve collected over the years & some from childhood.

How are things going?: OK. I'm feeling somewhat positive. Tomorrow I start bloodwork and ultrasound so I am excited to see if my ovaries are doing their job. I have had some cramping so hopefully that's a good sign.

GTKY: Christmas trees - do you use a real tree or fake tree? And how do you like to decorate it? We have a fake, pre-lit tree (DH is allergic to the real thing). Most of our ornaments have special meaning. We have ornaments from trips we have taken, gifts from students, etc.

@kpearse99 it was me that told you to scoop it out! 😁 Yes, I remember the inside feeling “swollen” which is possibly from the progesterone and possible just because you’re sticking stuff up there and leaving it. Don’t feel the need to scoop it out daily, but every few days worked for me!

Diagnosis (if you've been): elevated prolactin; unexplained IF

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): 50mg clomid, trigger, IUI

How are things going?: Okay... I had my IUI last Friday. They will do a blood draw to test my progesterone level (I guess to see if I ovulated? and to see if I need progesterone supplement?). Beta is 12/12; AF is likely to arrive prior to that if this cycle is a failure, as I have a pretty consistent 12-day LP.

Any questions?: Wondering if my E2 is a little low before the triggering shot; on CD10 it was 496; on CD12 (date of triggering) it was 416. My LH was only 11.9 at the trigger. Also my lining was at 6.4mm... Are the numbers too low?

@feather_heather when they found the polyp on 11/11 she said they were booking into January so it will probably be February. However they only do surgery one day a week and it typically has to be between AF and CD 14 so it may be hard to schedule. The PA said that I could probably go on BC and then they could do it at any time in my cycle so I may try that. Fingers crossed for you that AF arrives today! Also your pup is too cute!

@inthewoods23 it weirdly makes me feel better that I’m not alone with an RE office that is bad at communicating. Frustrating that we both have to experience that though. I’m glad you are feeling better today, I’m sorry that your family is so incredibly clueless.

@misshelen86 I’m sorry you have such a long wait until the urology appt. I’ll be here with you! Good luck at your appointment tomorrow!

@bows22 I actually don’t know! Somehow I didn’t save the date in my phone and I have to call since they’ve done it at 13 and 14 dpo before. I always know before then anyway since I temp and the progesterone prolongs what would have been AF. No sense in continuing if I know I’ll have a negative beta in 36 hours, YKWIM?
@pom9207 Yeah the progesterone check is usually a week after. They also sometimes check your estrogen level with it.
@kpearse99 It’s okay to get it all out. Not sure if it’s the same with you, but it’s like CD1-5 or 6 is AF with a CD3 US, then a few days of BD, then US CD10, maybe again CD14 and then IUI, about 3 days without anything being shoved in there, and then progesterone until beta... so about 28 days or so with annoyed lady parts and like 3-5 days off per month.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Letrozole (5mg), TI, and Progesterone after O.

How are things going?: Going pretty well...in the TWW and definitely enjoying not temping! I haven’t really been symptom spotting, so that’s been nice! Got some cramping a few days ago, but I’ve had that before in the TWW and it’s meant nothing! Just gotta wait until 16DPO to test! We had a really good Thanksgiving weekend, but I’m happy to be home and know we don’t have any more traveling coming up for a few weeks!

@bows22 ugh, I’m so sorry you have to be benched until after surgery! Your feelings are totally valid, I’d be very frustrated at the way they handled that! I hope your HSG goes well and you can get that surgery scheduled soon! And I hope you can move on from the PA either way!

@kpearse99 I’m liking your attitude! I’m hopeful for you though! ☺️ Ah, sweet sleepy puppy & beautiful tree!! As far as the progesterone goes...I don’t dig mine out, they seem to dissolve/absorb pretty well and the remainder comes out on a pad. I haven’t really noticed swelling...but it is more difficult to insert them at times than it is others, so that could be why. Also, hope you’re cold goes away soon!

@inthewoods23 I’m still irritated for you about your SIL! Hope your day was better though! My kitties have been known to chew on cell phone cords, but they have always left the lights on the tree alone! Have you seen cats that climb Christmas trees on the Internet? That was my biggest fear the first year I had a tree with the kitties...they used to chew on the low branches a bit, but now they leave it alone completely! By the way, I love all your hedgehog decor!! 😍
@misshelen86 I hope your IVF info session goes well tomorrow! I’m so sorry you are in a period of waiting, but I hope this waiting leads to improvement and being able to move forward to your THB!!

@tryingktogku having a diagnosis is a bit of relief, because now you know what you are working with! That is great that you are already ovulating on your own! I hope the diet modifications help! I’ve tried to at least decrease carbs...but I haven’t been very good at it lately!

@nitnat007 16 fertilized eggs...that’s amazing!! So happy for you! I hope you get a great update tomorrow! Sorry stitches were needed, but hopefully the soreness goes away quickly!

@keikilove I’m sorry traveling is making it difficult to get timing in! But I hope your -2 was all you needed! Will you be doing all your post O meds, or totally natural this cycle? So sorry for all the up & down feelings! I hope this latest diagnosis of the NK cells is the missing piece, and treating it will get you to your THB!!

Hi everyone,

Diagnosis (if you've been): Secondary Infertility, recurrent miscarriage

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Benched

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): We will be meeting with our RE in about 2 weeks (hopefully) to discuss next steps and the testing that we had done after our most recent miscarriage.

How are things going?: I am really struggling right now. We thought we had figured this out after our last round of bloodwork, and now we are back in this boat again. Im so confused and angry right now.

Any questions?: Not at the moment, but I joined in, because I know I will have some. I need to start compiling my list of things to ask my RE when I go see her again. I am worried that the testing that we are getting done will come back with nothing to show, and then we will really be stuck, so I want to have other things to ask about and test if we need it.

GTKY: Christmas trees - do you use a real tree or fake tree? And how do you like to decorate it? Growing up we always had a real tree (I grew up in Maine, the pine tree state, so its almost frowned upon to have a fake one). When I got married, we had a fake one, because we would travel for a while around Christmas. Now everyone comes here, and we get a real one again. There is nothing like that smell. All our ornaments are from special things that happened in our lives. Trips we have taken, engagement, wedding, etc. unboxing is like a memory time capsule every year.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): letrozole, gonal-f, trigger, IUI (#2), progesterone

How are things going?: I'm feeling good now, mostly because (to quote Flight of the Conchords) "Conditions are perfect." Meaning, my lining was great, i had 2 strong follies on the right (in more ways than one) side, and MH's count was amazing. So.... now I'm trying not to get my hopes up in case this still doesn't pan out.

Any questions?: Does progesterone make your boobs sore? I've tried googling and can't get a definitive answer. My boobs got sore really soon after I started progesterone. I know my body can't know if I'm pregnant yet, so I'm not letting the BSC take over. Just wondering what causes that.

@littlebug2010 I have no advice to give, but just wanted to commiserate about feeling like you're in a cycle that never ends. It's so hard to not feel like you're making forward progress.

@bluetickgal I'm glad you're able to avoid the BSC too much during TWW. That's not easy! Your tree is so pretty!

@pom9207 I'm no expert, but I don't think it matters too much what your LH is at trigger. My understanding is that they draw it to see if you're O'ing on your own already. The trigger will make it happen regardless. But again, I'm not an expert.

@keikilove I'm sorry you're not happy with your timing. I couldn't get MH to HIO the night after IUI. He was totally tapped out. And I was so frustrated! Like, come on! Just make it work!

But I guess it doesn't work like that.

Hey! Ugh work has been so crazy so I have just been lurking the last few weeks, but going to try to jump back in now that we are off the bench!

Diagnosis (if you've been): chronic endo

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): ABX, coq10, prenatal, baby aspirin, vitamin D, Ovidrel, IUI, progesterone

How are things going?: Good to be off the bench and doing something, but nervous with timing with work travel. And we are missing results from the lab for H so we have to track those down before IUI.

Any questions?: for anyone that has done the trigger while traveling, how did you keep it cold?

GTKY: Christmas trees - do you use a real tree or fake tree? And how do you like to decorate it? Fake and pre-lit, we change up our color scheme ever few years, right now it is jewel tones.

@bows22 Can you not ask to switch without an out? I think having the right personality is important for any provider! Sorry you are benched!

@kpearse99 yay for a TWW that is flying by! I never noticed the cervix being closed or low during the TWW on progesterone but kind of makes sense.

@shoogapoff yep the progesterone always makes my boobs super sore. Congrats on perfect conditions, that is the best to hope for!

I just get angry when people are assuming we are "childless" instead of "child-free". They are right but I am so mad...

@bows22 Glad that the RE clarifies her recommendation. I also need to ask my RE for information & implication, as they won't be upfront and tell me when the results come up or explaining the meaning of the results.

@kpearse99 glad that this TWW goes by fast for you! Holiday season sometimes helps

@ramzlau I actually have the same question; There is a chance that I will need to trigger myself while on a short trip next cycle... I was thinking maybe I can have the doctor send the order to the city I travel to, and then I can pick up the shot from the local pharmacy.

@tryingktogku I hope you are adjusting to the new diet quick! Since earlier this year I have been changing my diet to include more fat too. I now drink whole fat milk, and it's making me so happy haha. They are so much better than 2% or fat free ones!

@littlebug2010 I’m so sorry you find yourself here! I understand being afraid your tests won’t show anything...but my RE assured us that an unexplained RPL diagnosis means our chances of having a successful pregnancy are quite high! I get wanting to have something that you can fix though! I hope you get some clarity when you meet with your RE in two weeks!

@shoogapoff thanks lady!! I hope the perfection continues and this is your cycle!! I have everything crossed for you!! Yes, I think the progesterone makes my boobs more sore than they are just naturally after O!

How are things going?: Well I got the official BFN for IUI #1. I feel pretty okay with it, wasn't really expecting the first try to work but I guess I can't help but be a little sad.

Also had a talk with MH last night. He let me know that the whole IUI process caused him a lot more stress than he expected (worrying if it would work, worrying about me, etc) and said he would like to regroup after the next try to decide what to do going forward. I'm concerned he’s going to want to stop IF treatment although he didn’t outright say it. Im in a place where I feel like we should be moving to IVF. I told him I wasn’t sure starting with IUI first was the right decision for us so at least he knows how I feel.

Any questions?: nope

GTKY: Christmas trees - do you use a real tree or fake tree? And how do you like to decorate it? Fake! We do one in the living room and one in the basement. The one in the basement has all the fun random ornaments we've collected over the years. But boy I do miss the smell of a real tree! @littlebug2010 you are right about how wonderful that is!

How are things going?: OK, I'm feeling a bit nervous for my appointment next week, and as I get closer I think I'm going to be waiting for the new year to get anything started because of my insurance changing. I assume I'll need to wait for Jan 1 to submit for any treatment approval to the new insurance, which pushes me out another month. Just trying to stay calm, I guess. I did all of my paperwork over the weekend, so it's feeling more real yet again. I have a patient portal login and everything!

Any questions?: Nope

GTKY: Christmas trees - do you use a real tree or fake tree? And how do you like to decorate it? I'm 100% a fake tree girl! We never had real trees growing up, my grandfather was a cop and had seen way too many tree fires. He once took my uncles after Christmas to the beach across the street with someone's old tree they had thrown out to show them how quickly a tree can go up in flames once it's dried out. I would love to be a person with a beautifully decorated color scheme etc, but the reality is my tree is all sentimental ornaments (places we've travelled, Disney, Hallmark, etc.) and I wouldn't change a thing about it!

@pom9207 hmmm your lining does seem like it's on the thinner side, but I'm sure it keeps thickening up after you do the trigger. My RE's office likes the lining to be at least at a 7mm before doing an IUI.

@bluetickgal ahhhh you test the day before I do!! (I think anyway!) I'm right there with you on feeling some slight cramping these last 2 days but I've also had that in other cycles where nothing came of it. So just another reason why I'm not SSing this time around... they literally could mean anything!

@NYTino24 You are so right! I guess I never thought about how much our "hoo-haas" go through in the course of one cycle! Ugh!

@shoogapoff You really have had excellent conditions this cycle!! I have not had that side effect from the progesterone, but I have read (and remember others on here saying) that it can make your boobs tender/hurt and basically it can mimic symptoms you would feel in the TWW.

@ramzlau We've missed you! Yay for being unbenched!! Woohoo!!! I hope the timing ends up working out in your favor, work travel really does suck even more when you're TTC.

@ellieemc26 You're allowed to feel sad over the IUI not working. Your chances do increase with every one that you do, though, so keep that in mind. I think it's great that YH was upfront and open with you about his thoughts.

@mvt2003 I got hit with the cold too!

I'm staying home today to rest up and hopefully feel better tomorrow. I'm glad you're feeling more with it today!

Hi ladies! I am just starting preliminary testing so I don't have a ton to add to this conversation at the moment, but its a little quiet over in TWW so I thought I would say hi

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): we had a consultation with RE on 11/22. MH is doing semen analysis and I'm doing blood work. We have an appointment this Friday 12/6 to go over results and I will also be doing an ultrasound at that time

How are things going?: Things are fine right now. I'm very curious to get results on Friday! We have been trying for 6 cycles, so not incredibly long. We are both 34 and I just want to be as aggressive and proactive about the process as possible so if there's anything we should know, I want to know now as opposed to waiting. We had pretty good timing this past cycle so fx!

Any questions?: not right now

I love the smell so much and I really enjoy the process of picking out the perfect one each year. We do mostly gold and ivory balls, with little sprinkles of sentimental ornaments we've collected over the years. We also both have a handful from childhood that we incorporate now too. We just got our tree this past Sunday and we'll be slowly decorating it this week! I will share a picture when it's done
