  • EDD/weeks+days: 16 weeks today/ DD is May 11

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pink

Baby is the size of a(n): Dill Pickle or an Avocado

    Upcoming appointments: Wed 27th

How are you feeling? Pretty okay. I *think* I'm feeling some wiggles and flutters. Not sleeping great, it's hard to turn my mind off at night.

Raves/Rants: Just excited about Thanksgiving, tbh.

Questions: What are y'all buying on Black Friday?

GTKY: What’s your most-missed item, food, or drink while pregnant? Definitely just desperately want a big, cold sub sandwich.

  • @Austenista Eat the sandwich! Just make sure you get it from a place you've eaten at regularly and has never made you sick.

    EDD/weeks+days: My 14th/15+4

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Lavender

Baby is the size of a(n): Naval oranges

    Upcoming appointments: Nothing until December.

How are you feeling? Pregnancy symptoms are fine. But I have a cold and it's making me so miserable. I normally won't take any meds while pregnant, but finally broke down and took some tylenol for my sore throat. I'm so over this.

Raves/Rants: Head cold - see above. I feel like crap and I'm really hoping it gets better before Thanksgiving.

    Questions: Nope.

GTKY (stolen from Group 3): What’s your most-missed item, food, or drink while pregnant? Probably wine. There is very little I won't eat while pregnant.... Oh wait, I really wanted the burrata from one of our local restaurants and I couldn't have it because I was pretty sure it wasn't pasteurized. That was so sad.
  • @austenista I'm with @ruby696 I would eat the sandwich  :p. I'm so not prepared and don't have anything planned to buy Black Friday but I will probably try to scout out some random deals. I wanted to check into double stroller deals but MH wants to wait until after baby is here because he isn't convinced we will need one. Are you getting anything?

@ruby696 You deserve a break from your colds! I hope it's better soon.

    EDD/weeks+days: 5/14, 15 +4

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blue

Baby is the size of a(n): Cinnamon Roll

Upcoming appointments: Tomorrow, just a doppler check and how are you

How are you feeling? Fine! I was super crampy last week and thank goodness the last few days have been better. I don't feel any sort of energy boost but also I feel like this may be the best I will feel  :D

Raves/Rants: Well, my IL's (+ grandma IL) arrive tomorrow and I have so much cleaning to do tonight. The man I am nurse manager for was sick this weekend/ still is and so I was here a lot. I hope he pulls through but if it's his time to go it's his time to go (he's 98). But that also means I need to find a new job since I am privately hired.... which won't be stressful at all.

    Questions: Nope

GTKY (stolen from Group 3): What’s your most-missed item, food, or drink while pregnant? Ummmm I don't really follow any of the rules besides alcohol (well and medication). Unless I'm someplace sketchy. But I do really miss wine.

  • EDD/weeks+days: 5/14. 15w4d

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blue! Twins!

Baby is the size of a(n): two avocados

Upcoming appointments: had one today with the high risk OB, and another one on the 9th. Yay for every other week ultrasounds!

How are you feeling? The kids I nanny gave me the plague, but as far as pregnancy symptoms go, I’ve been pretty lucky!

Raves/Rants: The damn ultrasound tech blurted out “there’s a penis” without even asking if I wanted to know!

    Questions:

GTKY (stolen from Group 3): What’s your most-missed item, food, or drink while pregnant?
I honestly haven’t missed much. I haven’t really wanted to each much of anything, but soup, and I’ve always been a soup whore so it isn’t so bad. I do however wish I could take more meds for this damn cold/flu thing I’ve got going on! The sinus pressure headache is brutal!
  • That's okay, y'all. I prefer to follow the guidelines because they exist for a reason and I'll save a sub sandwich until I can enjoy it safely.

@Austenista yeah but it’s very very rare to get sick from deli meats.. the medicine we practice is often outdated. It takes on average like 17 years for research evidence to reach clinical practice. I get it though, obviously the choice is yours and avoiding them altogether is safest. Anyway, from the CDC (they do go on to recommend avoiding them but..):

     ETA missed a word etc
  • @rachelg777 Seriously, you couldn't pay me to eat produce from Trader Joe's right now. Seems like they're always having produce recalls for Listeria.

I'm pretty anal about not eating packaged salad mix/pre-made salads. Or fruit that has been pre-cut. Which is a bummer because we're supposed to eat lots if fruit and veggies, and that would make it so much easier.
  • @ruby696 I know it’s killing me because I crave watermelon every single day and it’s such a hassle cutting it myself 😝.
  • EDD/weeks+days: May 9th 16+2

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Hopefully know by Christmas. My 20week starts the Saturday before Christmas, so not sure when my anatomy scan will be booked.

Baby is the size of a(n):Avocado

    Upcoming appointments:Midwife on the 28th

How are you feeling? Meh. I thought maybe I had a UTI but those symptoms went away overnight. My lower abdo had a dull ache and I had to pee soooo much. Today I basically feel fine. Guts are little off, everything gives me gas, like painful trapped gas.

    Raves/Rants: None

    Questions:  None yet!

GTKY (stolen from Group 3): What’s your most-missed item, food, or drink while pregnant?
@Austenista I was with you and was pretty strict, and still am mostly. But I asked my midwife and she said roasted meats that you know where they come from are generally pretty safe. The deli around the corned roasts and cures their own meats, so I’ve been getting  turkey sandwiches. Soooo good.
I do miss sushi! This pregnancy was a surprise and I am so disappointed I didn’t go out for one last sushi dinner! Everyone keeps telling me to just get California rolls, but I want Salmon! LoL
Oh and beer. Non-alcoholic beer is just not the same.
  • @smashley09 I feel the same way about coffee! I know lots of people drink it after 1st tri, but because of my loss history, I just can't do it. And decaf is not cutting it. Also, MH had an IPA last night and I kind of hated him a little bit.
  • EDD/weeks+days: May 15/15+3

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out. so close yet so far away!

Baby is the size of a(n): ring pop

    Upcoming appointments: Dec 10th

How are you feeling? pretty good overall but still feeling "stretchy" every now and then. I told MH I guess life is just aches and pains for the next 6 months.

Raves/Rants: so excited to travel to my mom's for Thanksgiving and getting to finally tell the rest of my family we're expecting, but really not looking forward to dealing with a crowded airport at the crack of dawn tomorrow

    Questions:

GTKY (stolen from Group 3): What’s your most-missed item, food, or drink while pregnant? I miss wine and beer. MH picked up a new beer from the store last weekend and told me "I'm sorry but I'm really looking forward to this" 😂
    Me: 31 ~ DH: 34
    FTM
    BFP: 9/5/19 ~ EDD 5/15/20
  • @smashley09 I hear you on the trapped gas. It’s so bad at night sometimes.
  • @ruby696 I tired to give up coffee, then tried decafe, then gave up and I have one every morning. I’m a big coffee drinker and not having it was a nightmare. So I get my one a day.
But I totally get not wanting to risk it. Have you ever tried/heard of chicory root coffee? Most health food stores have it. It’s like an instant. It’s definitely not coffee but it does have a similarly satisfying flavour. I drank it when I was on an elimination diet a few years ago.
  • EDD/weeks+days: May 15/15w3d

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blue

Baby is the size of a(n): Yellow Canary

Upcoming appointments: Wed appt with midwife including doppler and first progesterone shot.

How are you feeling? Nausea comes and goes, also dealing with the painful trapped gas

Raves/Rants: in-laws arrive tomorrow and I’m just not feeling it. They’re not bad as far as in-laws go, but I just can’t fully relax around them.

    Questions: none

GTKY (stolen from Group 3): What’s your most-missed item, food, or drink while pregnant? I haven’t quit much and what I have are things I didn’t eat much anyway so not really missing anything. Though now I want Buratta, thanks to @ruby696. 😝 I’ll have to see if I can find a pasteurized one.

I think it’s important for people to make their own decisions on food/drink during pregnancy and know that I can make people uncomfortable with how lax I am. When I do have coffee or wine or beer, it’s usually half a glass and nursed over hours. If at any point I start to feel it, I immediately stop. But I definitely don’t judge anyone who wants to be more careful, we are all doing what feels right to us to keep our growing babies healthy. (Sorry for the soapbox, stepping off now!)

@Austenista - I haven’t even had a moment to look at Black Friday circulars. I haven’t shopped the big stores in a couple years, but try to plan for the good deals and catch them online. Any recommendation on which store(s) are worth checking out?
  • EDD/weeks+days: May 16/15w2d

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): Navel Orange

Upcoming appointments: Nothing for a few weeks

How are you feeling? Alright, been a little grumpy.

    Raves/Rants: None

    Questions: None

GTKY (stolen from Group 3): What’s your most-missed item, food, or drink while pregnant? Definitely a good red wine and I'm with you on the shusi @smashley09 I really want a dragon roll.
  • EDD/weeks+days: 15+5, May 14

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out in less than a month!!

Baby is the size of a(n): light bulb

Upcoming appointments: Just had my 16 week yesterday, next is the anatomy scan on Dec 19!

How are you feeling? Pretty great. I had some RLP and slight nausea on Sunday.

Raves/Rants: Opening hunting weekend went well. Yesterday was a nice day at home just DD and I. We had appointments and I was able to catch up around the house. I am really looking forward to the extended weekend hunting and spending time with family.

    Questions: Nope

GTKY (stolen from Group 3): What’s your most-missed item, food, or drink while pregnant? I guess I don't really have one, but I will say Sushi. I don't eat it that often not pregnant anyway though. I'm the one who still eats runny eggs and lunch meat. I have never really been a drinker so I don't really miss that.

  • @Austenista   I'm with you on the sandwiches and being careful.  Last week I really really wanted a toasted sub from our work cafe which is all local, organic blah blah fancy words and I feel confident they aren't serving shady things and following all precautions etc so I figured toasted would be okay.  I got to the middle and the meat was still cold and I freaked out and couldn't enjoy it and then convinced myself I had listeria and was dying.  Soooo pretty sure I'll just avoid it completely from now on or ask them to warm the meat separately and then toast.  I know odds are we would be fine, but it's just not worth it for me.  I'll just eat tacos haha

    EDD/weeks+days: May 13th/ 15+6

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: pink!

Baby is the size of a(n): travel size deodorant

    Upcoming appointments: nothing until 12/16

How are you feeling? like a lot of others feeling ok pregnancy wise but lovely DD brought home some daycare germs a week or so ago.  She had croup and I had a nasty cough/could and now a sinus infection but I started antibiotics yesterday and already seeing slight improvement.

Raves/Rants: just excited to have a short week and a long weekend.  My parents said they might keep DD a night or two this weekend so we can get some other work done organizing the house and getting things ready for the baby and catching up on sleep.

    Questions: none

GTKY (stolen from Group 3): What’s your most-missed item, food, or drink while pregnant? The biggest struggle for me especially around the holidays is cookie dough.  I know it's never "safe" or recommended to eat raw cookie dough, but I always lick the bowl after making cookies and in tough times I've been known to buy a tube at the store just to eat raw (go ahead, judge me lol).  It's hard to not even take a little lick off my finger when baking cookies these days but I'm staying strong for now.
  • @Austenista I'm not sure about my Black Friday purchases yet, but mine will be limited to what I can get online. I used to always buy cat litter to last the year at Shopko near where I hunt, but they are closed now and I don't think I can get that online. I am eyeing up some glass pyrex sets at Target or Kohls and I am looking for some sort of power wheels for DD. I also agree and say eat the sandwich. In my opinion you are way more likely to get listeria from fresh vegetable produce than you are from deli meat. I think all the recalls during my last pregnancy were for lettuce and things like that. I just saw your response comment, so never-mind.

@ruby696 I'm sorry you still have the cold. Have you tried a Neti Pot yet? Gargling warm salt water many times a day should help your sore throat too. I've been battling some post nasal drip/congestion for a few weeks now. But it is pretty minor.

@rachelg777 Sorry about your client and the possibility of needing a new job. I hope you can get your cleaning done and have a nice visit!

@bender29 Sorry about your cold, I hope it goes away soon!

@smashley09 I would ask at your appointment in a couple days if you can schedule the AS early. My practice has let me do it at 19 weeks last pregnancy and this one too. Last time it was the Friday before the 4th of July, where we used our fireworks show to tell all of our friends and family. This year we have it scheduled the week before Christmas so we can tell everyone then! FFC, I ate smoked salmon a couple times in the first tri.

@heyybritt I hope your travel day is smooth and you have a nice visit!

@lajoliedreamer I have similar sentiments to you when it comes to things to avoid for pregnancy. I definitely partake in the things that I usually eat not pregnant once in a while. I don't do wine while pregnant, but I also don't really drink it not pregnant. I may have a sip here or there over the holidays, but if I'm really craving it I will have Kombucha... which I don't think is recommended while pregnant either. Definitely a you do you and what you are comfortable type of situation.

How are you feeling? Much better this past week or so. I think second trimester is finally taking over.

Raves/Rants: I really don't want to be at work this week.

    Questions: None

GTKY (stolen from Group 3): What’s your most-missed item, food, or drink while pregnant? I really miss alcohol, especially with the holidays coming up. I may cave and have a sip of wine at Thanksgiving dinner.
  • @bananapanda I didn’t even think about cookie dough, because I haven’t made my Christmas cookies yet, but that’s going to be BRUTAL!
  • EDD/weeks+days: may 14, 15+5 (what happened that day?! So many 5/14s!!!)

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blue! Found out yesterday

Baby is the size of a(n): orange

Upcoming appointments: day after thanksgiving for glucose tolerance and meet a new OB

How are you feeling? Better, some headaches and what I assume is RLP

Raves/Rants: we told our boys and parents last night and I am so happy about how excited SS was about having another brother. It was so cute

    Questions: none

GTKY (stolen from Group 3): What’s your most-missed item, food, or drink while pregnant? I am lax-ish, I’ve been very nervous about lettuce this time and I love all things salad. (Olive Garden salad was my major craving last time I was pregnant!)
  • EDD/weeks+days: May 12th / 16+2

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: pink

Baby is the size of a(n): avocado

Upcoming appointments: Dec 17th for anatomy scan and regular appt

How are you feeling? Good. Still tired a lot, but that might just be life

Raves/Rants: being with family can be stressful...I’m over it, but we have 2.5 more days to go...

    Questions: none

GTKY (stolen from Group 3): What’s your most-missed item, food, or drink while pregnant? I miss blue cheeses and unpasteurized cheeses generally. And just eating stuff without worrying what is in it.

@bananapanda I think they pasteurize the eggs in those cookie dough tubes they sell at the grocery store
  • @adventuresawait2 I know with DD1 they sold some type of tubs of edible cookie dough at the grocery store.  It wasn't quite the same but it did work in a pinch lol

@Austenista I highly recommend reading Expecting better by Emily Oster...you’ll find that a lot of “rules” aren’t all that founded. I’m a facts and research based person so I thought her book was very helpful in deciphering the actual risks of various activities while pregnant, but to each her own.
