1st Trimester

How to deal with appetite; first trimester

HI, I feel like I am having an opposite issue from most pregnant ladies. Need help!

I can't stop eating proteins and fats when I start my meals. I can eat the whole rack of pork ribs, tons of cheese, or 6 protein bars in a row, or a bag of cashews. I am just on week 9 and I know I am not supposed to gain weight at this point yet, so this gets me worried.

Anyone else experienced that and found solutions?

Re: How to deal with appetite; first trimester

  • I was always hungry during my first pregnancy. Some people get nauseous and others really feel the extra calories burn. Don’t worry about gaining weight, just try and listen to your body. Eat when you’re hungry stop when you’re full.

  • You're fine. Protein and fat (that isn't trans fat) are great for your baby and pregnancy.

  • I was super hungry during 1st tri with my first. Don't stress about weight gain, eat if you're hungry and if your worrying about overeating, just try to stick with healthier options.
  • thanks for all the encouragement. It's really important. I have a history of disordered eating and while my mindset has shifted now that I am pregnant, I find myself falling back to my pre-preganancy way of obsessing about calories.
