Re: TTTC Check In 11-18-19

  • Hi all!

@meri-mac thanks for the extra love last week! Sorry my response would not go through!

I know we have a lot of people waiting for things this week, hope everyone is doing well and hanging in there.

My week is weird so far- home from work today because I have a 2:45 HSG at the hospital in the opposite direction from work and it was just easier to stay home, but it feels weird. Also second guessing my decision to not temp or use OPKs this month... I’m only on CD 10 and going a little crazy.

QOTW: I love playing board games with my hubby, we have a whole collection of fairly complicated games and it’s nice on a Friday or Saturday to just hang out at home but doing something together besides watching TV.

@2dogsmom I've had quiet a few half days during the whole IVF process and it does feel weird, but very nice. I have finally reached a state where I do not think about work if I am not at work. DH and I have a healthy board game collection as well. I absolutely love when his family come over because that is when we can break them out. Hope your HSG goes well!

QOTW: What is your favorite thing to do that you do on a regular basis (at least once a week)? I love to knit! I haven't been doing as much as I want. IVF has taken up my energy and brain space for a while, but I have gotten back to it almost daily!

*Edited to add a negative that completely changes the meaning of my sentence*
  • @2dogsmom how'd your HSG go? Hope everything is in the clear!

@meri-mac I wish I could get myself into crocheting, but then I stop after like 2 days. Would be a good use of my hands though since I can be fidgety

Snuggling with my cat or DH and put lounge pants on lol.

AFM, nothing new with IF, just chugging along with the BCP. We did put our hedgehog down yesterday afternoon and so it was a pretty tough day. Surprisingly I felt much better when it was done. I don't think he was ever suffering besides not really being able to eat from the oral tumor/cancer. DH has taken it really hard and unfortunately he has to go on a business trip today through Thursday so we had to do this at a not so great time! We'll be ok. And there's probably another hedgie in our future.

  • @inthewoods23 The trick for me was finding a beginner knit kit of something I really liked. It was spelled out for me and all the materials were there. Super easy so no reason for me to stop! Again I am so sorry for Pinecone. Losing a pet is devastating. Hope YH can rally soon.
  • Hello friends! Hope everyone has been doing alright while I've been off!

I did a quick skim through the past few weeks!

I saw @chiblackhawkie popped back in! Was nice to see your name!

My cycle off was .... a tidal wave of emotion. Lol. I didn't  really expect it either. I had thought I had been coping pretty well with things. At first it was the anger at the "double fail" of the IVF cycle being cancelled and then turned into an IUI cycle which also failed, and how truly awful I felt through that whole cycle. But then the anger didn't really go away like it would have with previous cycles. Thought maybe I was literally purging excess hormones. But I think it was just not having the momentum of a new treatment cycle to focus on and divert my thoughts to.... 6 cycles worth of operating on sheer adrenaline and not realizing how much I wasn't processing just sort of overwhelmed me all at once. Took me a few weeks to process and pick myself back up again.

So well needed break, if not entirely "restful". We didn't OPK for ovulation which I think was a mixed blessing/curse. It was nice to not think about but then made it hard as to when AF would arrive and we symptom spotted for O anyway, so may as well have done the OPKs! Lesson learned.

Day 4 of a new cycle and started Letrozole and Gonal-F for IVF. This is my clinic's new protocol. No more menopur! Will start Cetrotide later this week. So far AFC shows 8 on the right and 7 on the left.

My mantra with this cycle is to just go with the flow and not get too mired in the minutia. If I can!

QOTW: Fav thing to do.... big steaming cup of tea (now decaf) with a spoonful of honey and milk and catch up on my tv shows by myself while DH is doing something else. My tv shows include Grey's Anatomy and Outlander. And I've been binging on Kim's Convenience (which is probably only a Canadian thing lol).

@inthewoods23 so so sorry about your hedgehog. 😔 Our pets are so much more than pets, they're our family. Sorry you had to say goodbye.

@2dogsmom hope your HSG went ok? It's kind of a catch-22 whether to OPK or not... either way has it's pros/cons. You're forced/taking a cycle off, I guess?

@meri-mac how have you been doing with your IVF cycle? What med protocol are you doing? How have you been feeling?
    Me: 36 DH: 37 // Married: 2015 // TTC#1 Since: 2017 // PAWrents to 2 dogs: 6 yo female shepherd-malamute & 1 yo male weim/heeler mix // Dx: Unexplained endometriosis & adenomyosis 12/2020 // Rx: 2019: IUIx6 & IVF Retrieval Result: Abnormal/High Mosaic Laparoscopy/Excision - Surgery Sep 2021, Round #2 IVF Retrieval with new clinic - 2022
  • The last 10 days have been relatively relaxed. I had some headache with the 100mg of clomid. But nothing else. I have an ultrasound on Friday to determine when my hcg shot will be. I am looking forward to next week as I am taking time off before thanksgiving to just spend time with my DH. He travels a lot so we want some time to ourselves.

QOTW: my DH and I just make some tea, sit in our patio and drink it on the evenings he is at home. Some good conversations. Ok this is making me miss him. He’ll be home Friday. ☺️

@2dogsmom how did your HSG go? Hope you feel ok.

i agree with the whole no opk thing being a little weird. They asked me not to do it this cycle, but it feels weird to not pee in a cup 😁 first thing in the mornings. I am calm right now.

    keeping FX for everyone.
  • @hithertorue I'm sorry for the tidal wave of emotion. I think anyone would have been the same with the cancelled/failed cycles. I'm glad you are back on a plan though and I have my fingers crossed for you! IVF is mostly over. Just waiting for the blood test next week to see if I am KU. I have had a couple of dreams now about getting a BFP, but I'm not placing all my hopes on my subconscious. I'm curious as to why your clinic isn't using Menopur. Did they tell you?
  • @meri-mac I did Gonal, Menopur and Cetrotide last IVF cycle and didn't have a good response. This new protocol was something my Ob learned at a recent conference and they've been having good numbers with it since trying it on other poor responders. The letrozole I think works to block some FSH receptors which slows down the stimulation and potentially boost the quality of eggs. The GF is started at a high dose and then reduced gradually to mimic your natural hormones to a degree. The goal is quality over quantity I believe. So we will see how this round goes. FX for you!!

@amgpg25 tea and chats - the best!! I'm also using my downtime as something to look forward to. If all goes well with this IVF and we have some to freeze we will get December as a rest cycle which will be super nice over the holidays. Maybe can let our guards down and enjoy some drinks and really have a rest.

  • hey y'all!!

@b_1029 - how is everything going with you? been thinking of you!

@chiblackhawkie - nice to hear from you!! how is giving up drinking going for you?

@2dogsmom - how was your HSG? hope your break is going okay, even if it isn't ideal for you.

@amgpg25 - i did the HCG shot in my belly and it wasnt bad at all, just some soreness afterwards. hope this cycle is going well for you so far!

@meri-mac - hows your TWW going? how many embryos did you end up freezing? hope youre hanging in there!

@inthewoods23 - wow, that mini pharmacy is impressive! haha. you're amazing for managing all of that! im so sorry about your hedgie....i had a hedgie that passed away a year or so ago, it so sad! they just dont live very long...mine had cancer too we think. hoping youre doing well despite the rough times!

@hithertorue - so good to hear from you again!! so sorry you had such a rough time. how are you doing this cycle?

    AFM:
i took a HPT on saturday and much to my (and DH's) surprise, i got a BFP! we've been taking a break from IF treatment since the beginning of August (aside from continuing the Metformin for insulin resistance/help with PCOS symptoms), so this was a complete surprise! i had a feeling when we were in Scotland that i had ovulated (we didnt do any OPKs) and thought there might be a possibility, and i prayed that if it was supposed to happen that it would, and it did! we are still in shock. i took another HPT sunday and it still said "pregnant"...so that confirmed it wasnt just a dream.

we're still very anxious about it and praying and hoping for the best, but we know that the first 12 weeks are so up in the air that im just trying to take it day by day, and even if the worst happens, we now know we CAN get pregnant, so we will take that win. i had bloodwork done on Monday and my HCG was 366, and they just took some blood today so we will see how things are progressing. they estimate that i am about 6 weeks.
married to DH on March 15, 2018 <3 TTC since May 2018
dx: PCOS, hypothroidism <3 tx: timed intercourse with meds (dexa, clomid, letrozole, metformin, trigger shots)
First TTGP: 5/9/19 BFN, 6/21/19 BFN, 7/29/19 BFN, 8/1/19 started a break from tx, 11/16/19 surprised with a BFP! LO born 7/7/20
Second TTGP: started meds for first cycle of tx on 10/13/21

  • @knockupthestock We ended up freezing 9 embryos, one of which was lower quality. The embryologist was very positive about them so that's a plus. Fx that we won't need to use them! Had some spotting last night, but the nurses said that it is absolutely normal. They can't tell if it is a bad sign until the blood test next week so I am focusing on the "absolutely normal" part.
  • @knockupthestock awesome news! Pinecone was about 3.5 years old which per our vet was pretty typical for a life span for the hedgehogs they see. They're actually one of the very few in the state I believe that can see hedgehogs - and they're only a 10 minute drive from our house! DH has taken it the hardest since he would cuddle with him under his shirt most nights. So now he's feeling like something is missing when he winds down for the day 😢 we'll get 1 or 2 soon, just don't know when. We're about to get very busy for the next few months so we'll see.

  • Hi all, super crazy week at work has been a good distraction for me this week.

@inthewoods23 OMG I am so sorry to hear about your loss, I lost one of my dogs last year and it is so hard! Will be thinking about you and your hubby.

@hithertorue welcome back, you’ve been missed! Sorry to hear your break wasn’t very relaxing, but sounds like it was still good to have the break. It also sounds like the first few days on these new IVF meds are going well! When is your ER?

@amgpg25 interesting that they didn’t want you to do an OPK this cycle. I have always been asked to do it when doing clomid & trigger just in case I ovulate before I trigger (never happened but still), but my cycles are super irregular.  Good luck w your US today!

@meri-mac FX for you!! Hopefully the bleeding is just the normal implantation bleeding!! Also 9 embryos sounds great — lots of chances to try/get a sibling in the future.

@knockupthestock wow congrats — that’s like the IF dream come true!! So happy for you.

AFM the HSG was completely clear, so yay happy about that, though in some ways I think finding something would have been nice because then we would know why we can’t get pregnant. As of right now there is no clear reason.  Had to bench IVF for a little while due to timing with a family wedding/holidays/doctor’s schedule (I could see someone else but I like mine) so taking November completely off (which feels weird and kinda disappointing) & hoping to do another IUI cycle in Dec & then IVF in Jan (if needed but assuming we will).
